I can't live without my machine. I've had it since May of 2016 and I have used it every night since then. The features are too many to list but I can tell you that this machine has saved my life.
I wish to inform that I`ve been practicing for few monthsusing this snoring treatment SnoringTreatment5.blogspot.com and I had excellent results. The best part is I never snored any longer after almost 2 months of doing the physical activity. Neither the snoring or the feared sleep apnea have returned. .
I’ve been using this model for several years. Could not do without it. When I did a sleep study I stopped breathing 41 times per hour. No wonder I kept falling asleep all the time. I have to use my machine for at least 4 hours at night to keep my driving licence, but I use it all night anyway. A real life saver.
interesting points ,if anyone else wants to learn about how to cure sleep apnea at home try Nadazma Amazing Sleep Helper(just google it ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my brother in law got cool success with it.
my new machine is quiet until I take off the mask at nite. Basically I have to take it off to rinse dry mouth. Think there is a setting to auto stop when mask is off. Have to find it. Must not wake up wife.
mine sounds like a motorcycle going thru the gears when I breathe unless the lady that set it up put the filter in backwards. as for the dry mouth guy . I'm a mouth breather when I sleep and have been getting severe dry mouth lately . so I'm going to try a chin strap. because the air could be leaking out through your mouth causing it to dry .I hope this helps
@@Garysopinion I was thinking like a hand held hairdryer. It is SOOO loud when you slip the mask off without turning it off. That's my main complaint. Between family members we've had 4 of these and all the same - not a fluke.
I’ve had a lot of cpap machines and I have to say this one is by far the best one I have ever had. Never had any problem with the machine since I’ve had it. Sleep good thru out the night.
kenamaro sorry took so long.. it is very effective but like many new users it is very uncomfortable to sleep in. But when I do I feel good. I use it as much as I can but most days I’m not going to lie, I don’t just bc I feel claustrophobic
Hi I got my dreamstation about a year now and no problems yet all so some one asked of buying the cleaning out fit I would not pay 400$ for this I use anibacterial dish soap or pure white vinegar on my hose and my nose gear and i been on c pap for 9 years no problems i do the cleaning once a week hope this helps you all,,,
I have had three machines in 10 years and this one is my favorite. I have had it for 7 years and the only problem I have is putting it on before I fall asleep.
Hi there, thanks for sharing! We are glad you have had success using CPAP therapy. If you ever have any questions or need assistance, our team would be happy to help. Call us at 866-414-9700.
We would be able to tell you the cost of a machine from a different distributor. Please reach out to a company based in that location. If you are asking what the coast would be for us to ship a machine, please reach out to questions@thecpapshop.com.
Check the seal mating the base station to the vertical face of the tank. Make sure its seated properly. Also check the seal in the top lid above the tank. It round lip around the outside may have folded over on itself or stuck together, run your finger under that lip to ensure its like a flap seal.
I love this machine so much, I can't stop telling people about it LOL. I know its the machine and not my mask because I'm using it with my old mask and I never wake up to hit the ramp button anymore. My old machine would wake me up because the pressure was so uncomfortable and I would hit ramp to fall asleep again. I was doing this 2 or 3 times a night! now its zero times a night! And my pressure is actually higher now, 6 - 16 (it used to be 4 - 14) but its way more comfortable now with this machine.
I just got one to replace my old one. It works great, I especially like the fact is is 12 volt instead of 24 volt so I can use a portable car jump start type battery to easily run it when power goes out. I only wish the humidifier would hold more water as my tank is sometimes dry when I wake up with this machine.
I've had mine for about ten yrs. I had a back operation & in the recovery room I stopped breathing. My husband & son was called right away, (they were on their way to work hubby went berserk), but then I started breathing and my doctor diagnosed it as, "Sleep Apnea". It really takes a lot off my mind to have it, and a lot off of my hubby's mind so he doesn't wake up to a dead wife. (shutters)... Anyway, it also comes to a point that if I don't have it it's scary because I don't want to stop breathing either. I'm comfortable with my machine to say the least. One time we went on vacation and I forgot my cord at home. We were only gone 3 (three) days and the second night is the night I woke up from lack of air and I awoke sucking up a ton of air, which scared the hell out of me. Needless to say I never did that again. Be careful & double check your equipment all the time. I do have a few questions, but I don't know who to ask or how. Any suggestions???

Was really nervous getting a cpap machine for the second time...the first time I had one, I couldn't stand it and refused to give it a real chance. I've now had this cpap machine for about 1 1/2 months...and there hasn't been 1 single night I've not used it! I'm finally getting some real sleep after years of misserable sleep full of nightmares, frequent wakings needing to use the bathroom, and tons of tossing and turning. I HATED sleep before this...now I really look forward to it each night! What's really great...is that I'm finally really getting use to it. I don't even notice the mask and the air pumping into me anymore. At first it felt like a bit of a struggle to breath with it...but now it's almost completely normal. And I use to wake up in the mornings with my mask off...I never remembered taking it off in the night, but I was. That hasn't happened in a couple of weeks now. It's just great! It hasn't fixed all of my sleeping issues...but dang, it's been pretty amazing. I use to average 45+ disturbances per hour during my sleep...with my cpap machine, it's dropped down to a 30 day average of 1.9 :D. My sleep is deep now too. It's amazing and restorative. I never really got much deep sleep before...I was constantly tossing and turning and frequently waking up...or having nightmares and screaming out in my sleep./sigh...I sure don't miss that!! I love that I no longer fear sleep1 Sleep felt like an enemy to me before...and no matter how tired I was, I fought hard to stay awake. I felt like the moment I fell asleep I'd be plunged into violent nightmares...and I'd wake up frequently and feel miserable. I'd only get 2-3 hours of decent sleep per 3 or 4 days and I just couldn't function! I'm now getting 5 or 6 hours of solid sleep per night, and sometimes I'll take a nap during the day as needed. And I love my sleep! I don't plunge anymore...I float into sleep now! What a wonderful feeling that is! I understand that not everyone can do cpap machines...it's just too uncomfortable for them. And I don't look down on them...I had the same issue the first time I tried one years ago...but I do feel bad for them :(. They're really missing out. It's been less than 2 months for me...but it's already made a major positive impact on my life. I'm getting the best sleep of my life...and it's getting better as I'm getting more use to the machine! Sorry for the long post! xP
+twitchster77 Don't apologize for the 'long' post, as I'm about to become a new CPAP user--specifically with the Philips DreamStation Auto--so I'm looking to read about how others have adjsted to the machine, any problems, etc. But, I'm more looking for reassurance that it works! Frankly, after trying everything from wedge pillows (gravity) to silicone nose rings (to presumably keep nasal passages open), etc., I feel like I'm almost out of options, which is why I have to start using the DreamStation, because I feel like my life literally depends on it working for me. About a month ago I was diagnosed again (first time was diagnosed with mild sneep apnea 3 yrs ago, but found the CPAP options cumbersome and noisy), this time with severe sleep apnea, so I'm going to start by watching TV with the mask, so that hopefully my body gets used to it. I used to LOOOVE sleeping, so now that I've done a total 180 and struggle to sleep more than 2 hours at a time, I really feel like CPAP is my last chance...or I'm screwed!! Any advice or suggestions you may have would be MUCH appreciated, as I'm awaiting for my DreamStation to arrive. Thanks, Mike in Boston.
FYI, this machine does NOT have an automatic "on" feature like my ResMed Aircurve 10 did. I had to get an new CPAP because I now have Central Sleep Apnea. That feature was great...
What do you mean by automatic on? I can put my mask on, and breath a few times into the mask...and my dreamstation turns on automatically for me. Is that what you mean? I think it's an option that you have to turn on in the settings. I don't remember if it's in the basic settings, or the advance settings...you can get to the advance settings by holding in the round dial and the small ramp button on top for about 5 seconds.
Thank you for your post. My wife got her Philips Respironics Dreammachine in June 2019 from Southside Infusion / DME located in Houston Texas (713-660-8888) and have been complaining about smell to the company who supplied it however the company people are not giving her time of the day - says that there is no issue. Talked to Curtis, Goldwin and Vinod telling her that it is plastic smell which will not going to harm you - however it is not allowing her to get any sleep and use the machine. They are monitoring the use and telling her that you are not using the machine! What a nonsense response. We need a better replacement machine that does not stink.
I got one last August, one of the first few in my state. I've used a CPAP machine for more than 15 years, and my sleep has been poorest on this machine. I was sleeping great on my Remstar One until it stopped working. So, a new machine was necessary. My provider only carries the Dreamstation. When I used the auto-mode on humidity, it would wake me up with spikes of freezing air throughout the night. I added a heated hose, but that did not help. I turned that feature off. The humidifier runs low at six hours and dry at about 7 hours. I quit using the pre-heat. No improvement. I put a regular, non-heated hose on. It clicked loudly and rained condensation on me. I put a sleeve on the hose and those problems stopped. But if by chance I managed to get more than 7 hours, my throat was in bad shape from running with a dry humidifier. And the little white fill line is hard to see. The humidifier reservoir has much more surface air space available for evaporation than my old machine. I think this is a design flaw, giving me more moisture in a shorter period of time and running dry much sooner. Never had that problem before. The pressure on exhale was too high (does not back off enough) and the flex was less adaptable than my previous machine (RemStar one). I tried various settings, but I never managed a good night's sleep. My throat stayed sore and hoarse and my GERD got a lot worse. Sometimes, the flex pressure seems to actually cause apneas that wake me up. I lie there for a while and observe it happen. I stop the machine and start it again and that stops. (I have great fit on a full-face mask, so that is not the problem.) The phone app software does not report any additional data from what I can see on the machine itself and that is just for one night (no trends). At least that's how it works on my Adroid smart phone. Sleepyhead open source software is great for long term trends and deeper information, but the developer has not yet added data analysis on this machine. To top it off, the machines turns on a bright, white/blue light when it starts and when it stops. I can see everything in the room, and it's enough to wake up my partner. Anybody who knows anything about sleep knows a reddish light is much better. It slaps off my melatonin right when I need it most. My providers say I'm the only one reporting problems, but that's not what I see when I scan the forums. They can't give me anything else. So, I am back to shopping for one on my own. It's really unfortunate when a supposedly improved technology is actually two steps back.
Good info. I don't use the humidifier because I wake up drowning in condensation. Didn't know about the setting until I saw this. Still can't get the Bluetooth app to work though. Keeps asking for a code that appears on the screen but no code appears on the screen..
Hi! I have this unit as well. I was curious if I can use the machine on a daily basis without the humidifier? Would it make any difference in how effective the machine is? I don’t particularly care for the moisture. I don’t use any of the heating features either. Please help! Thank you.
Yes, you would be able to use the Dreamstation CPAP machine without the humidifier and still get the CPAP therapy. The humidifier is a comfort feature, and it is not necessary if you prefer not to use it.
I have a problem sleeping and get up about 4 times a night and sometime i start thinking about my wirk day, upcoming meetings and projects and then i cant get back to sleep. I am going to call the dr and get the study done
I love this machine! The only problem I'm encountering is that it makes my mouth super dry and it hurts. The moment I drink some water it's like such immense relief. Has anyone else experienced this?
Cottonmouth usually occurs if you sleep with your mouth open. A full face mask may help. If you already have a full face mask you may want to incorporate a chin strap or the Somnifix adhesive mouth strips. www.thecpapshop.com/somnifix-mouth-strips
i got mine 2 . It save my life . I would like to ask is it important to pre heat like how many minutes ? Before u start using it . Because i staright away to use it .
Thank you for the demo. Just wondering what would cause water to be under the water basin on the heating element? We tested the basins and there are no leaks in them Please help. ty
Then you overfilled your basin. There's a water line on it. If you over fill past it then when you close the top, excess water escapes the funnel. It usually doesn't get inside the unit, but you want it on the heating element either. The water line is faint. Hold it up to the light, you'll see it.
Hi Nancy! Great question, check out the brief demo in our video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NqW6VLEXH38.html We will definitely include a more detailed explanation in an upcoming video!
If the humidification settings have not been locked by the manufacturer you can select the preheat Icon and turn it on or off. The Preheat feature allows up to heat up the water chamber up to 30 minutes before you start your therapy.
Just started to use this and it’s making my mask very loud when I breath in. The machine itself is very quiet. But the sound of the mask is Keeping me up.
On the Flex setting I have choices 1-3, what would be the most comfortable one ? I have a very difficult time exhaling back from my pressure of 8. Have had it for 3 days and I only average 2 hours I wake up hot and just uncomfortable, can't sleep on my stomach sucks.
3 is the highest Flex setting, and will flex (lower the pressure) more when you exhale. Talk to your provider, would recommend the DreamWear mask for sleeping on your stomach. Also ask about EZ-Start to help cope with your pressure.
I was thinking like a hand held hairdryer. It is SOOO loud when you slip the mask off without turning it off. That's my main complaint. Between family members we've had 4 of these and all the same - not a fluke.
I still have not received a replacement unit from the recent recall - or even been contacted. They are supposed to be dangerous having the foam breaking down and entering the lungs.
Usually, the blame falls on faulty bearings or a piece of plastic sticking out of the smooth fan blades. The expensive bearings should be whisper quiet. Car wheel bearings or router bearings can be very noisy if faulty.
What can I do when my reactions are totally opposite to the norm? I have a Philips Respironics (as demoed above) but my body reacts differently. The higher the humidity, the worse the dry mouth to the point where my tongue is glued to the roof of my mouth and my lips glued shut to be opened only by prying my lips apart with my fingers. I have taken the humidifier right off. I cannot use the full face mask because I take my dentures out at night and the fit is extremely poor and the nose mask isn't much better. The pressure is on 8 but I ramp it down to 4 and the dry mouth isn't quite as severe. My sleep is shallow the whole night until I take the mask off (about 6 am) and then I can get some sleep. After a few nights using the machine, because of the lack of sleep, I have constant headaches, nausea and everything else that goes with insomnia. In this state, I do not feel safe driving a vehicle but have been told by RoadSafety that if I do not use the machine, they will pull my driver's license. The only way I feel half way alive and normal is to stop using the machine for a couple of nights; then I do any shopping and driving around in a day or two then back on the machine. I have tried to talk to my dr who refers me to my specialist who refers me to the people he sent me to for the CPAP machine who refer me back to my dr. There are more issues with the machine but these are the main problems that are destroying my life.
@@Thecpapshop I am not a mouth-breather and never have been. And with my mouth being totally glued shut, how could I be breathing through it and get it to that state. I have actually used a chin strap several times but it has made no difference at all and have used Biotene which was no help at all. Over the years, I have found certain settings work best for me, no humidity, a constant flow and lower pressure. Now my machine is resetting itself and gone to a fluctuating flow. So when I press the 'ramp' button to have the flow at 4, over a short period of time, the pressure will be back up to 8. I have an appt with OxyLife to get the machine recalibrated and hopefully find out how I can reset it myself. I hope I can some resolution to my problem because, if I want to keep my driver's license, I must use the machine. My body seems to go in the opposite direction for some meds as well as the CPAP machine.
It is good that you are having your machine looked at and we hope that helps. Dry mouth can also be caused by different medications or if you are dehydrated. YOu may want to discuss that with our treating physician.
HI I was told when travelling to other areas I don't have to take the humidifier piece with me. What areas in general would you not need to take the humidifier with you? Heading to Vegas NV in July and was curious if I should take it or not.
What type of portable battery does this use? The company wants $329 for one. That's too pricey for me. Can they use another brand / type that's more affordable? Thanks
The filter keeps getting smaller and smaller. (requiring more changes) Same with the humidifier container. My water is gone in about 2hours so I still end up with dry mouth.
Hi Gary! Have you tried adjusting the settings on the humidifier? You can try lowering the humidity if too much is being used too quickly. If you have the owner's manual, the humidification settings can be found on page 10. 5 is the max setting and 0 the lowest.
Thalnks. Had it on the max due to dry mouth. Lowered it. note that the tubing is also heated. can lower that because I never get condensation. The real prob is dry mouth. I think the manufacturer should use an ultrasonic nebulizer instead of a heated humidifier. And the container is too small. See design problems.
Right now. Amara view. Had many others. This one is neat in that I can use it with my eyeglasses on and read myself to sleep. Doc said for me to have dry mouth, I must be a mouth breather. Basically I get a stuffed nose after being on the bipap during the nite and end up mouth breathing.
Hi Tammy! Are you sure the noise is coming from the machine and not your mask? Has the machine been bumped, dropped or have you traveled with it lately? If the noise is from the machine, have you checked all the connections and made sure everything is securely in place? If you use the humidifier, make sure it is securely connected to the machine. The water chamber also needs to be in the correct position and secured or this will cause noise from the unit.
Hi, I live in Ireland and I cannot find this machine anywhere online in Europe, can someone please send a link which I can buy it from anywhere within the European Union cos to import it from abroad cost too much for me. Thank you.
if you start to get chest/lung pains after a few days of first ever using the CPAP machine, is there a specific thing I should talk to my doctor about? thanks
Paul, thank you for reaching out. However, the CPAP Shop cannot offer any medical advice and recommends that you consult with a physician to discuss all of the symptoms you are currently feeling.
I'm confused as to the "Mask Type" setting which goes from X1 & up. I have a Philips DreamWear Under the Nose nasal mask with a medium cushion size. What would the Resistance setting be?
how can i get my insurance to give me a nice unit like this and not some janky old non-bluetooth cheap thing? my dr just prescribed my cpap and i have to wait 2-3 weeks in limbo for my insurance to send me whatever they want?
Be sure and use it before taking it. I found mine to be very noisy and after trying other Dream Stations it sounded like an old school iron lung machine. I went with a Resmed which is very quiet.
I was thinking like a hand held hairdryer. It is SOOO loud when you slip the mask off without turning it off. That's my main complaint. Between family members we've had 4 of these and all the same - not a fluke.
If you are planning on using your Dreamstation in your camper you can use the Shielded DC Power Cord System for Respironics DreamStation, SKU# 1120747. This will allow you to use that battery, or it can be used with a deep cycle marine battery: www.thecpapshop.com/pr-dreamstation-shielded-dc-cord-system.
I have this model and the rubber cushion came off the mouthpiece and I can't put it back on? I've seen replace mouthpieces for sale on Amazon but I don't know which sized to purchase?
Question we had a power interruption and my husband Respironics DreamStation will not come back on. I have unplugged it to reset but it does not work . Can you help?
I have checked all connections and refit mask and even took humidifier off to see if that would resolve issues. it didn't solve problem. any ideas or suggestions you may have?
Thanks for this great overview. One question, if you know, how does the auto version vary pressure? I mean is it just some kind of programmed fixed varying response, or does it actually respond uniquely to each person based on how they breathing?
This unit is incredibly sensitive and has an algorithm that senses on a breath to breath basis to increase the pressure to the lowest possible to maintain the integrity of the throat during an apnea episode. Once through the episode, it will decrease to the lowest possible pressure so sleeping is more comfortable.
user1198 , 1.2 AHI is fantastic. My people say anything less than 10 is acceptable but of course one should strive for lower numbers. On my older system one machine my numbers bounce around some but they have always been lower with plain cpap and flex. A flex and auto gave me higher numbers. The new electronics might help me and others. If anybody can have a 1.2 then they are ‘dialed in’. That’s an excellent number if it’s for all night.
I am just starting to using this machine. I've had it for 5 years, but never really used it. I vaguely remember the instructions. One problem I'm having is that I wake up in the middle of the night feeling like the pressure is too forceful INTO my mouth mask .... almost like its suffocateing me. I feel like I have to push (breath) out against a high pressure then take a deep breath. Any advice?
Perhaps reach out to the company you received your machine from about the Flex setting which provides pressure relief. If you adjust that and are still not comfortable, please consult your treating physician about the pressure level.
Maybe a lot of different type of breathing problems will be coming at people with the Corona virus that mainly hits the lungs in the bad cases. The U.S.A. needs to make more breathing machines of all types from light home duty to all the way up to ICU types. If Corona virus gets really bad in the state of Washington, state of Calif., and New York City, the U.S.A. might need the manufacturers of breathing machines to go to 24 hours a day shifts.
Just got this machine to replace a broken F&P Icon that has this capacitor that wouldn't turn the machine on after being unplugged from the outlet.. grrr.... hope I won't have such an issue with this model. Programmed obsolecense?
The old F&P Icon had a problem with that capacitor (or whatever it is) that was located as a big bump in the middle of the power cord. Eventually F&P fixed that design flaw and sent my provider with a free replacement machine (without even asking, I guess they replaced everyone's) that still has the bump (a newly designed bump) and I've had no problems since. I'm now thinking of getting the new F&P Sleepstyle machine since my old Icon (the replacement one) is quite a few years old now. The new Sleepstyle does not have that bump thing on the cord.
According to SoClean.com "The water chamber does not need to be emptied before using the SoClean 2 but the water in your sleep equipment should still be changed as recommended by the manufacturer."
Is there any therapy difference between philips auto bipap systm one and dreamstation auto bipap?? Otherthn light weight ,bluetooth, and other modern feautures?? Does it comes with s and t modes?
Hi Tanishka, the machines are very comparable when it comes to the therapy. Most of the differences fall under the conveniences you've mentioned, such as the bluetooth and a color screen, and both machines are under 30 decibels in volume.
My wife’s setting is at 4. She feels as thought it’s too much air pressure and can’t fall asleep comfortable. Her prescribed setting is 4-14. Is there anything we can do?
No not really. It sucks...but it's just something you have to get use to. She WILL get use to it if she lets herself...though I understand her discomfort. I refused to give my cpap machine a real chance the first time I tried one years ago. She just has to keep at it :(. wish there was an easier way. Maybe she can talk to her doctor about trying some sleeping meds to help her get to sleep? Or maybe some over the counter melatonin?
Hi Jay, have you replaced those parts in the last 6 months to a year? If you have not, we recommend trying to ensure proper functionality. If you would like additional assistance, please call us at 866-414-9700.
I had to return the first one I got because it made so much noise. The second one was reasonably quiet at first and is now starting to make the same noise. If you push down on the top of the unit it quiets down for a while then starts up again. It is a very poor design. Also I agree with the other comment below about the off switch not being good. My old Resmed would shut off automatically if you took the mask off. It was a much better unit, but the insurance would only pay for the Phillips.
We are a bit surprised by the comments as we rarely ever have an issue with Philips Dream Station machines. If there ever is an issue, Philips wants the machines back to analysis. Also, the DreamStation has an auto off setting. However, its default is off. It will need to be turned on in order for auto off to be activated. However, given our experience with this feature, if the user gets a mask leak in the middle of the night and tries to fix it, the CPAP will react to the mask being removed and shut itself off. This sometimes gives people pause about activating this feature which must be done through the provider menu.
Hello. I'm having an issue with my Dreamstation. Whenever I have to wake up to go to bathroom I see that the machine “restarts” the therapy period again. For example; if I have to wake up 3 times at 1.5 hour intervals and then resume the therapy, the machine shows that last 1.5 hour period as my total therapy for the night. I'm just starting on this. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance for your kind help.
Hello. The machine records usage anytime it's on. It may just be displaying the last session after you woke up and placed your mask back on. You can go to My Comfort on the machine or download the Dreammapper App to view more information.
The smaller button with the triangle on it is the ramp button. If an event wakes you up you can hit the ramp button to lower the pressure, which should allow you to fall back to sleep.
Why my therapy time does not match my sleeping time or my CPAP using time? For instance, I use the CPAP for 8 hours and it shows at the end 5 hours or 4.5 hours?
It is most likely generally due to the CPAP mask leaks. If the leaks are excessive, the therapy session will have gaps and present a shorter time span than the full time the mask was worn. However, please contact the manufacturer, as they may be able to provide a more concrete explanation.
The Dreamstation Auto machine is currently $329.00, or if you include the humidifier it would be 379.00. In order to set the machine, we would need you to provide the sleep study results with the diagnosis of sleep apnea or a prescription. You are welcome to place the order on Thecpapshop.com or please contact one of our customer service representatives at 1-866-414-9700.
it doesn't make any sense for the machines going to ramp up only if you have to get to sleep first how do you do that if you can't breathe enough to go to sleep if you go online you will find there are a number of these machines been returned because of issues with with control systems and a loud whining noise after several months of use a lot of these machines are way over designed and overpriced are we getting what we need or just the ones with the highest profit margins?
I just got mine and its blowing cool dry air instead of warm moist air at level 5, I lowered the water level so it can warm up easier but its still the same. Any suggestions?
Hello, Bill. The humidifier is intended to provide moisture but will not provide heated air. The setting to change the humidifier on your machine may be blocked by your provider. If it is not you can access this by going into my setup or my comfort, then selecting the option for humidification. In order to change the humidification setting, you would need to select fixed. Another thing you can do to make the therapy more comfortable would be to adjust the preheat option. Turn the Preheat option on about half an hour before you plan to go to sleep. This will heat the water up, so when you go to use the mask it is not blowing cold air.
I just got this one but they never told me it came apart and I didn't get the heated tubing! was that supposed to be in the box? when I got to the place to pick it up they had already opened the box.
+Teia The heated tubing is an optional upgrade for the machine, so it depends on where you got it and what the package you purchased contained. We give the option when you're buying the machine, along with a few other features. www.thecpapshop.com/respironics-dreamstation-auto-cpap
It is nice that these machines are getting more advanced, but I wish they would come with climate control. I hate the warm moist air that comes out of mine. I wish it could be chilled. I have a hard time getting excited about any CPAP as I hate being a slave to one. If there was a good way to fix my apnea permanently I would take it.
During my sleep study, I asked them to turn the humidifier off entirely. I was used to sleeping with the bedroom balcony door wide open, and I love the freshness of outside air. Since I got my dream station about 16 months ago I have never hooked up the humidifier, even during the dead of winter. I far prefer the un-humidified air. I use a lip balm (Chapstick or similar) every night before I put on the mask, which is the only thing I do to accommodate the absence of the added humidity.
The Philips Respironics DreamStation starts at $335, but is currently out of stock from the manufacturer due to a recall of the interior foam. If you're curious, check out the DreamStation 2: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q64-NmZ7dCM.html
