This model isn't available in the US (they use B78907 here), but the TAB7807 on your list is and I have it. It appears similar except for the extra two satellite speakers that come with the TAB8947, and the bar is a little shorter. The 8" subwoofer is great, but you have yours too close to a flat surface on the speaker side. The sound will fill the room better if you move it so the sound it isn't blocked by your entertainment cabinet. I recommend putting it on the other side, or turning it sideways so the speaker faces the room. I had that same issue since I also wanted it on the left of the TV. For anyone that doesn't know, you cannot use Dolby Atmos if your TV does not also support it. You cannot force the upward speakers to work, unless the TV can handle it. The system knows and will automatically set itself for the best performance. The one thing you must do, is set your TV for "Pass Through" in audio settings for the best sound. The default will set to "Auto", so you have to manually change it. Even though the Auto says it will set it to the HDMI connection, it does not do Pass Through in the "Auto" setting, which will elevate your sound experience. You will think it sounds fine on the Auto setting, until you set it to Pass Through and hear the difference!

Read this before buying any Philips soundbar:- I bought one of a Philips soundbar back in early 2018, worth around 28000 rs. Everything was fine, the sound quality-look and so on. But the only problem was haapen is the availblity of its parts. Back in fab 2023, my Philips home theatre stopped working, the issue was in a board. I gave it to Philip's official service center but they told me that the part is not available anywhere in India. Then, I tried to repair it from third-party local shop but ☹😔. So, the thing is, things are started having issues after 3-4 years and when it needs the parts till then Phillips stops selling that parts. Philips stopped distributing parts of the product within 1 year after the product had discountinued. So, I'm very disappoint with this and never ever gonna buy Phillips product again. If you are enough guts to replace the product once it stuck then you can go with this brand. Now, i'm done with Philips and about to move towards Sony and Samsung. Note:- Please share your service expeerience with Sony or Samsung home theatre if you faced something like that.

Hi, Thanks for the review. Nice review of the features and sound. However, I felt the bass to be almost non-existent. The thump wasn't felt unlike the other soundbars. I'm thinking of going for the Yamaha YAS-209 soundbar as it has very good sound quality and deep bass. What do you think? Thanks again for the review.
I have tested the sound and Trust me this far better then the JBL 5.1, I was not expecting since I thought jbl 10inch base would be better but Philips sound is more Balanced.

May I know, what is the subwoofer Wat and RMS. Just wanted to know, if we convert RMS into watts then 330 RMS would be 466 wats peak. How would be 330 Wats converting into 660 Wats Peak. Please clarify, thanks
Nice detailed review, I am already using Philips htl8163b and planning to upgrade to this one. But my house is sloped roof typical Kerala house. Does upward firing speakers give good effect for Dolby Atmos? My plan is to use with Projector with Firetv Stick and sound bar connect via BT
The Q800B has max 360 watts, or about half of what the B8947 (8907) has at 660 watts. However, the 800B does have 11 speakers. "Better" is subjective to the listener. If you don't need 660 watts of power, then that extra wattage is irrelevant since you wouldn't need it or use it. My B7807 has 630 watts, but I have never turned the volume past 45 our of 100. So for me, I don't need 630 watts, but the clarity is typically better even at lower volumes.

Is there any option to change the sound mode from Dolby surround to Dolby Atmos using the remote? It changes modes automatically but no other option to do it manually..the user manual is as basic as it can be..it even does not give the proper.settings menus..

I don't know about model B8947, but the B7807 that I have does not support FireStick. These two models are nearly the same, except for the extra 2 speakers that doesn't come with B7807.

I also faced the same problem ever since I purchased it, but I found the solution for this by myself. Thing is that, this soundbar can be connected to Wi-Fi only through "WPS Mode". If you would look at the User Manual that's been provided by Philips, the image also shows the Wi-Fi to be connected via WPS. So if you have your Wi-Fi router and your soundbar on a close proximity, then you need to press the WPS button on your Wi-Fi router and hold it until the WPS light becomes stable. And then, press the WPS button on your soundbar for 5-10 seconds and leave it, after which the orange light on the Philips Soundbar will "Double Blink" and your soundbar will connect to your Wi-Fi instantly. (There should be a blue button on the back of the soundbar, next to the HDMI ports). Hope this helps.

Thats a really good question. No without your tv having arc support it wont play fire tv dolby content, even if the fire tv stick is plugged to the soundbar.
Yes you can play dolby content by connecting your firestick to hdmi input port & hdmi out port to tv. My tv doesn’t have arc port & my soundbar plays dolby audio with the hdmi in out port.
What about in-built tv app content ? Example : How can in built netflix app dolby vision and dolby atmos content be passed through the soundbar as I don’t have a fire tv stick ?
