Thanks for the video. I used this for more than two years and it suddenly stopped working. I thought of disposing and buy a newer model. But I saw your video and dismantled and found that it requires a bit of cleaning it’s Motörhead. Surprisingly working now!!! Thanks again
If you think battery is dead try taking the shaver head off and cleaning underneath it. Just fixed mine that way today after finding this video. No disassembly required.
For 2 years, the battery died and the trimmer stopped, I need to buy a new battery, it is easy to disassemble, But the glass case breaks during disassembly, at the assembly points, but it is not fatal, I will reassemble it. A bigger battery can be put in, but check how it fits in your bed, Needs silicone/glue to attach the battery The blades should be lubricated with thin oil, from a sewing machine is suitable The engine runs great. Thanks for the video, Greetings to all..
Yeah but it’s a Lithium-Ion battery. It looks like the green Sony VTC (18650) batteries I would use for my old vape mod. They were the best because the could run at higher amps. You might have higher MAH NiMh batteries but if they can’t take the higher amps that the motor needs then it will burn them out quick. He mentioned you could fit a bigger battery but with that circuit board I’m wondering if it would effect performance in any way. As long as you matched the amp output on the OEM battery you could probably get way more run time. But in all fairness mine is the 9000 series and gets 6/hours of run time and the 7000 series still gets 5/hours of continuous run time. So I don’t think battery life is the issue. The Phillips and Wahl Li-ion have the best battery performance out of any trimmer by far. I can’t see you needing more than 5-6/hours of continuous use on one charge? I mean if you have the battery and are good at soldering then by all means. I definitely wouldn’t recommend putting any NiMh battery in place of Li-Ion. I’m not sure why these would need to be taken apart? I just got mine a few days ago so maybe there’s a design flaw. But I wouldn’t recommend running these under water no matter what the packaging says. The blade attachments, yes… but not the handle itself. Just use the brush and maybe some canned air. I think that’s why a lot of these fail. Eventually water gets in somehow and causes rust or oxidation. Idk I could be wrong as I haven’t had mine long enough
*People, do NOT run the battery handle under WATER… just the attachment heads!!!* the device is *water-resistant* not water proof. They tell you it’s OK but it’s definitely not!! I just got mine a few days ago and I laughed reading that in the instructions and I have a better understanding of electronics than most, so I understand why most people read that, then dunk them underwater like it’s a toothbrush are upset their razors are dead after two years. Yes things are engineered to stop working but this can largely be prevented if you just brush the hair out and maybe use a old toothbrush snd some canned air to get hair out. Trust me your razor will last much longer that way. I’m sure there’s some that will crap out regardless, but most of these dying because of oxidation and rust.
2:28: I broke 2 out of the 4 tabs to make it easier to open... u could try to open without breaking it.. Note: Even though the company says its waterproof, its better not to use in shower.
I have a question my trimer got wet from the inside the top ruber seal was broken, i disassembled it and cleaned it sprayed with electric Contact spray and now ot started running again. So my question the small LED is dead it dose not light up, will it charge if its dead, because i dont have the tools to replace it. Or its only there for indication of curent running true the charging port.
Thanks for this video! I've managed to disassemble my unit because it suddenly stopped working... Now that I've got it open, I see that there's water/moisture inside. Is it still possible to fix this? Can't have it brought back from warranty as it was bought in the US.
I had an older model and battery went out, no more rechargeable. I looked online to see the price of the battery and it was roughly half the cost of the unit
I’m sure you could rig up a mosfet switch or something… but these things get 5/hours-6/hours of continuous runtime for the 7000/9000 series? Once you see the light blink charge it or even sooner. With Li-Ion batteries the worst thing you can do is run them down to 0% dead. It’s really damaging to the overall battery health… just like a cell phone. You’re better off topping off a battery that’s %50-%70 charged than waiting until it’s completely dead. You can do the 5-minute quick charge and get a quick shave out of it, but again it’s terrible for the battery health and longevity if you do it too often.
I have the same machine, I took it apart to see what was wrong with it, and I don't know if it's the engine or the battery. Sometimes the machine starts, and sometimes it shuts down when it's running. What would be the problem?
I have again second for second time the same and its off again 2 buys the same product and after 1 year starts this problem at last times the machime start and stop alone and then dont charging i think maybe take water but i know you can tell me after one year? Mystery problem or take water or the battery is bad i dont know
the power of battery not a problem, meaning 14500 battery can be replaced. just make sure the voltage it supply is correct. if not it may not work well.
@@LaughingOutLaud1 Nice! What size battery do you think will fit in there without "modding"(I don't have access to a 3D printer), do you think an 18650 will fit? Or is the largest that'll fit the original assembly an 14500 as the video creator suggests? Looking at the video, it seems like there's a lot of space lengthwise, so I assume the diameter is the limiting factor.
Thanks for the video. I find out when disasembling mine that the circuit board had bad components because of water filtering in. DONT USE THIS IN WATER!
Mine fell down too, I disassembled it and have nothing fund, just while disassembling it shaked a little gone on and suddenly gone off It may be the battery connection between battery and the electronic board or the board it self or the battery it self
Love how everyone's has died 2 years into it. So has mine! Lost the receipt!! Babyliss ones are well built. There was a decent babyliss one at the time so I bought this one
I think it's not perfectly waterproof. Just disassembled mine which is also 2 years old and has moisture all over, and some rust spots on the negative side of the battery. It stopped even charging. I'll try cleaning everything and resolder some rusty solder spots to see if it can be revived. Not running through water ever again though.
@@k-yoexactly!!! I just got mine a couple days ago (9000 series) and it says wet/dry and there’s no way I’m running the battery handle underwater. The blade attachment sure but that’s it… all it takes is some moisture to built up and you get oxidation and rust. These are water resistant not “water proof”… if you get water in there you can take of the head and let it air dry or maybe a bag of rice. But I see people running these underwater like it’s a toothbrush 🤦♂️
Babyliss are pony. Everything I have bought from them has died within 18 months. A stubble trimmer perished within 6 months and their Pro range is way too noisy.
