Phillies President, Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski and manager Rob Thomas address the Philadelphia media after losing to the Mets in the NLDS ending their 2024 season.
Michael Barkann is a real and true Phillies fan. And he expects perfection every time or at least most of the time. He is very spot on at times and very entertaining to watch on Phillies sports.
Still Delusional. Why have the 3rd highest payroll if you’re content with simply not being the worst. Cleveland one the lowest payrolls, and a motivating manager. Too soft a manger rubs off on players. Historically bad hitting in playoffs. Bad sign for the future.
My guy you sound like a straight front runner 😂😆 obviously you didn't go threw the hard times over the years with this team! But other than that saying the Phillies are a joke of a franchise you should pry get another team my boy. Cause you don't win every year it's not possible and trust me I'm pissed at the Phillies too but I'm not sitting here throwing the towel in and saying there a joke of a franchise. The Phillies were an underdog that went to the world series and lost to a loaded Astros team. We played them tough. Last year they let us all down losing to the Dbacks in 7.. and than this year they won 95 games won the division and lost to a hot team and we're all hurt over that shit.. but they are a great team and they got good young players coming they'll make moves but they will be here next year and trust me I hate when ppl say there's always next year but I never seen so many fans quitting on their team like this.. maybe they have a bad playoff next year... maybe they win it all next year...
I read the comments, and I just laugh,, he knows this team far better than most fans, I tell you this there will be moves, they need an outfielder, they will be fine, as to the manager, the guy wins games, why make changes just to make changes. He will improve the team.
Topper managment is perplexing. Shwarber is NOT a good leadoff. Turner, even Stott would be a better leadoff. Shakeup the lineup. Like it wasnt working.....what do you have to lose
@andrewgreenberg5068 no he's not. He leans too much into analytics and has zero emotion and heart for the game. When guys aren't playing well there is zero accountability and nothing is done to get them right. This team played .500 baseball after the all star break and nothing was done to fix it. That's bad management
@@crimsonvance3294 his passive approach to coaching is very feminine. he would make a great high school softball coach. but his emotionless aura is a testament to what is going on everywhere. he is too concerned with feelings and personalities and possibly making a player hate him. what makes him a horrible leader is he wants to be Liked. which is fine, when we are 12...
I think Rojas will get better at the plate each year. He put on some weight and got a little better with the bat this year. Let's hope his skill level keeps increasing.
Rojas doesn't need to hit homeruns. He needs to be fast and agile. He needs to strive for contact and just getting on base. The long ball should be the least of his concerns.
Let me start by saying I'm a diehard 4/4 Philadelphia Sports Fan and trust me I'm hurt just like any real Phillies fan out there. With that being said unless you recently jumped on the bandwagon or a fairweather fan that keep your opinion to yourself about what the Phillies should do. After that being said let me say Rob Thompson was on my hot seat. He is single handedly messing up Marsh and Stott. They are 2 super good young players and they aren't getting paid yet and they both have 1 problem and that's vs left-handers?? So your philosophy is every couple games you bench them??? So let me ask what player when they get hot and then benched then they play then they pitch hit.. Marsh & Stott are everyday players and can be big time pieces let them play... And Bohm also struggled in the playoffs but I have to tell you gun to my head Bohm, Stott, Marsh or Turner, Castellanos, Walker give me the daycare.. Walker, Castellanos, Turner making a half a billion dollars.. Castellanos was 1 of the few that showed up in the playoffs but he also disappeared against the dbacks 1/37 don't forget that. Turner is the one tho... Turner has got a monster deal and did what? 2 seasons he played like shit
If complacency were currency, Dembrowski would be the richest dude on the planet. Show this team the tapes of 22'/23 playoff losses, bats went cold because of undisciplined hitting. It's every stinking year Dave! No accountability -"just a bad stretch".
Wow is this last years press conference sounds like a whole lot of excuses to me. Also it sounds like are fixes are the exact same as last year as well and we all know how that turned out .
This Phillies president GM. Needs to be fired. The team is older. Going back wards he has over paid locked the team in contracts did nothing at trade dead line or in off season. He has the gift of gab he needs to be fired.
This was disgusting, and as a Phillies fan gave me even less hope than before. This guy is really starting to piss me off, did he even watch the NLDS? So basically he's saying he's content with just running it back again with this same lineup of HR or bust, strikeout machines. And did he also say we have 4 reliable starting pitchers? Other than Wheeler, who on this staff do you trust in a big game? Is Middleton actually ok with this clown running this franchise into the s@#$house??
As much as some of these fans saying f this team, and the Phillies are a joke of a franchise, and blow the team up etc... is annoying tf outta me i must admit its alarming af than Rob Thompson and Dave Dombrowski separately in the end of the season presser and especially off of a devastating loss to are arch rival and they both came out and said they need to learn to put the ball in play?!??? You need to be the voice?!? Do something!! Cause what nobody is talking about is that every year for the last 3 years theres a point where we go 30-30 my boy thats 2 months of the season and you go .500 or under for 2 months is unacceptable
They need fewer free swingers in the lineup. Turner's a good hitter, but almost refuses to walk and with his speed, I would like to see him bunt once in a while as well...not sure what happened to the bullpen that was so good for most of the season...maybe they just ran out of gas..although our starters certainly did their fair share of the workload.
The entire team lack heart and that lack of heart comes from lack of true leadership. The look on every players face at the start of game 4 said it all. Every single one had a look of defeat before the game even began. They already looked like they wanted to go home and we're done. The lack of emotion in the locker room after the post-season exit. The answers they gave was that of a mid season loss like more baseball was to be played. The let down their owner and they let down this city! And all of them acted like they couldn't care less. We were all bought in on this team. Consistently selling out games, buying all the new gear. And for it all to have been for nothing. Something about the leadership and coaching staff needs to catch. Brushing it off as just their bats went cold is a bullshit excuse. There is zero accountability on this team and that comes from coaching.
I remember the Yankee clubs of 2010,2011 and 2012 when the Yankee offense was abysmal in the postseason most especially with RISP. And who was the hitting coach during that period, Kevin Long. But that is not to say it was his fault. A lot of those failures belong to the players although Long really didn't have a viable solution to the lack of clutch hitting in those postseasons. Maybe it's simply the players getting worn out from the 162 game season us the 30 games in spring training. Perhaps MLB needs to reduce the number of games played in a season. Start the regular season in April and end it in August and start the playoffs in September. Probably never going to happen because of the loss of revenue.
@@Rightbrainedboricua I agree with you. As I said, it's more on the players than anyone else. But it's also on the 162 regular season schedule. That why the season schedule should be cut to maybe 144 games instead of the 162 regular season schedule.
Wait...here's an idea....just keep swinging for the fence like it's home run derby, then get beat by inferior playoff teams that throw anything but the fastballs you guys are hoping for hmmm...already doing that....until you learn to play a complete game, which actually includes ground balls, bunts, sac flies, good base running etc. it's going to keep om.happening...oh and yeh, get some good relievers.......
Dave Dombrowski is my favorite MLB executive. He has built so many top level teams. And most of all, he started in the EXPOS organization, he produced so much talent with that team! Trust me, no better man to run a baseball team then Dave.
@eyesontheinsides the Phillies are not the Marlins or the Tigers. He will trade alot their talent, but I think Phillies do a good job of player development. I live in Clearwater, I see the players at the complex on 19 year round practicing.
Simple the phillies are rolling the same team 😂😂😂😂😂😂so for you phillies fans another good regular season and thats it😂😂😂😂the boss has spoken..so LETS GO METS 😂😂😂😂😂
Please for one time give the mets some credit..btw the mets roll over the phillies bullpen..and play better then the stinking phillies. Thats the hard truth....L.G.F.M.😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's not like this is the 1988 Phillies . I'm glad they are bringing Rob back. This team is good but played a better and Hotter team. Maybe retool the bullpen and Outfield
That is a poor excuse and a gross underestimating of what happened. This team was on a decline since the all star break. That's not just catching a hit team and the wrong time. There is zero accountability on this team for poor play.
My Analytics tells me that from the GM,Manager and all the players have a 100 % Check Cashing rate as well as 100 % CHASE AWFUL PITCHES rate ‼️‼️‼️🥸🥸🥸....And Dave's saying ' they're gonna be successful at Check Cashing ONLY next season 😳😳😳😳😳
