I was pretty young in his prime years, I forgot how much power he had putting balls into the third deck and over center field wall. Nobody else comes close to his distance
I came here expecting Bryce, Ryan, Jim (Thome) and Kyle (Schwarber). Utley and Burrell also had a ton of HRs but I don't know if they were that powerful. Anyway, great team Phillies
How can this not have Matt Stairs' blast off Broxton in the '08 NLCS? Turned the tide of the series, and Stairs put a flat side on that ball. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UCBJv3Xz7QY.html
People harp on Joe Buck, and I’ll agree that he really used to not give a shit, but he’s improved so much over the years, if he started announcing today he would be considered a great announcer
“Castro has it spins fires… A PERFECT GAME ROY HALLADAY HAS THROWN THE SECOND PERFECT GAME IN PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES HISTORY HE FACES 27 BATTERS HE RETIRES ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL 27”. He may not be HK but Tom McCarthy is a great replacement.
I’m just a bitter Met fan pointing out that CItizens Bank Park is a bandbox. But then again, I’ve seen those boys send some deep souvenirs at Shea & Citi too so kudos!
1:55 Joe Buck gotta be one of the worst announcers in history. A World Series home run and he acts like it’s a bloop single in a regular season game 🤦♂️
Should’ve had Inky’s grand slam in 93. He hit an absolute monster of a shot that would’ve landed who knows where in the upper deck of the vet if not for the foul pole netting stopping it
I was at the game on the first clip when Howard hit it over the Powerade sign. The buzz was crazy in my section once we all realized how far the ball went.
My question is has a right hander ever hit a moonshot, that basically cleared the seats in left field, and perhaps, on a bounce, hit a car in the parking lot?
Howard hit that grand slam so hard and high even the pitcher was mesmerized by it. 2:13, Matthews didn't turn around to trash talk as some thought, he was making sure Yeager didn't get hit by his bat. And I wish there was video of Greg Luzinski when he hit the replica Liberty Bell which used to sit in dead center field off of the 400 level of the old Vet(contrary to popular belief he didn't hit the Liberty Bell, the one that sits outside the 3rd base gates at CBP, that used to be on top of the Vet. No one ever hit one into the yellow 700 level seats(closest was Willie Stargell) let alone hit the top of the Vet).
Agreed, I remember seeing video of that when it happened, and it was insane. Never seen a ball hit to dead centerfield with that much power. All the monster home runs are of guys pulling the ball--a lot harder to hit it to centerfield that far.
