What are your experiences with verrucosum? 🌿

I have found it easy to grow in a self watering pot with chunky mix. I let mine touch down to slightly dry on top before watering but never let it dry out. Soaking the moss pole prior to watering the pot helps the stem roots to attach to the pole and it appreciates this. Humidity as always is important with this one. It's a fast grower! Another thing is I do not overfill the self watering pot, up to half full on the indicator that way I feel it's not sitting in too much water.

Great video ! You are the cutest 💜 Just wanted to mention, when you see droplets of water on your leaves, it’s totally normal. It doesn’t mean overwatering. It’s called transpiration🌱🌱

Yes I ordered from there and I live in Florida and it's hot n humid here so there it's like 40-50 but it survived shipment thru there but probably coming through Florida it got pretty warm, when I opened it looked great but the very next day it was wilting, and following day had dampening off and I checked the roots it was about 2 inches long, and barely rooted 🤣

very beautiful looking plants! Actually, springtails are not pests. They are beneficial bugs, they consumes compost/dead root in the soil, nursery tends to put springtails on purpose. And they usually die off when there're no more compost in the soil.

I prefer splendid, no spider mites, has the red backing and neon sripes of verru and then the dark darkness of melano at the end when it is done. u get the best of both worlds

Lucky to have a good size verrucosum bought with a good root system so I was able to go straight into an Aroid mix perlite, bark and potting compost (not soil based). Made a good length moss pole out of UPVC kitchen waste pipe and plastic mesh which ends up being some 3” diameter. The thing is the stem roots get right into that moss pole. Great support and plenty to root into. Your comment on water to soil is very relevant to me as I recently made the same mistake of rushing into soil with small plants so sphagnum seems a good intermediate step. Thanks for your video

Gorgeous plants! I believe Verrucosum x Melanochrysum is called Splendid.

Funny, I just bought two baby Verrucosum from Botanicaz last night before I stumbled upon this video. I'll keep an eye out for the springtails but my understanding is that they don't do TOO much damage to live plants, it's mostly dead and decaying ones they're interested in, though they might occasionally have a nibble on some roots if there's a rot issue happening. I actually have a ton of springtail in my home because they're roommates with the isopods I keep! They make sure the isopod enclosure is nice and clean :)

I wash the plants when i got them. Sometimes with just water sometimes with a bar of soap. Then i don't have to worry about pests. If its in soil i keep them isolated. When they adapt (min 3 weeks) if the soil is suspicious i change it. Thats it. Pests are no big deal.

I always get so confused on if I should put a new plant in moss, water or soil. They are so beautiful!! 😍 I always shine with my phone flashlight to see spider mites, you can see them starting with a flashlight 😂 They are on my wishlist! 🌿

I imported my verrucosum from Indonesia around April this year. For me it’s a slow grower. It has only put out two new leaves since I got it, but so far so good. I can’t speak about pests on it because I use systemic treatments for all my plants to reduce the overall chance of getting pests. I got bored with the verrucosum a few weeks ago so I decided to experiment by chopping and propagating it😅 putting the top cutting into leca to see if it does anything. Botanicaz is also I great shop! I’ve purchased from that shop a couple of times and had great experiences both times🙂 great video!
