@@wolfspledge1762 as a Canadian, I hadn't realized that. I watch a lot of tv and movies from Britain and I have visited Manchester, Burnley, and Wigan, but hadn't heard that. Always learning, I suppose.
I have often considered that the central reason for the Declaration of Independence, was the retention of slavery. The time line for the Declaration of Independence fits exactly into the timeline for the slavery abolitionist movement in the UK. Slavery being illegal in the UK by law, that law was about to be applied to the British Empire, all colonies would be required to free their slaves. So life Liberty🤣 and the pursuit of happiness was not for everyone in America. And give me freedom or death, could have just as easily been the slogan for American black slaves.
I am reminded of the line in A Fish Called Wanda where Kevin Kline's character says that if it wasn't for America's help, England would be a fucking province of Germany.
@joeschembrie9450 I'm not talking about the line, I'm talking about it being bullshit about the USA "saving" England (or Britain, England is one single country) , the Soviet Union contributed far more than USA.
@@wolfspledge1762 The line is funny because it's exaggeration to make the point how obnoxious his character is. Anyhow, if you want to defend the British Empire or the Soviet Union, you're decades late in either case.
And who were they bought from? People who conquered towns and villages and enslaved the locals. There’s people being stollen at some point down the line, doesn’t matter where it happens.
@@jk844100 The point is that it wasn't Europeans forcing Africans into slavery, but Africans stealing other Africans and selling off some of their surplus to the Europeans, who were far from the only costumers.
