I was at this show! Such a weird and perfect setting for a Phish gig - hash and shroom vendors out in the open, European hippie vibes on full blast. These were killer shows. A small room, & extra tasty late-90’s playing. Doesn’t get much better
Yep, was there too. We told our Danish friends about it the next day and a whole bunch of Danish kids came the second night. They loved it. We saw the band sitting together at a little sidewalk cafe, having beers on the street after the show. Nobody bothered them. That was the vibe.
I actually camped along the chilly lake that lay beside Freetown, if town can describe Christiania. One of my clearest memories from the Europe 98 tour was from this show during the Runaway Jim breakdown as the music and audience got quieter and quieter until the point of almost complete silence. You can hear it very well here from about the 1:43:15 mark. I have never before or since experienced this at a Phish show. And then they explode into that section before the last verse. Magical shit! I can't believe homie has video of this!
For those wondering, the filming onstage is for Todd Phillip's 2000 documentary "Bittersweet Motel" Only "Brian & Robert" made the final cut from this show
I was there! There are more views on this video than there were people there...possibly 1200-1500 fans total!? Such a treat. thank you for finding and posting these epic 98 Europe shows. Copenhagen & Prague were some of the best shows I got to see....thank you again!
Was so glad to have been there for these 3 shows. Drove from one corner of Germany and took a car ferry across the Baltic. Such an amazing time. Thank You!!!
that second set....unfortunately wasn't there but through a maxell xl 2 cassette it felt like I was :)....the nostalgia is heavy I remember those type sets...special stuff. Thank you as usual!! Can hear a lot of what would become that prague ghost on 9/8/98 in there and and ending is radio city esque ...that I did have great fortune to see literally and figuratively most expensive ticket I ever bought lol. Amazing stuff thank you again
First of all, this is an amazing show from beginning to end. Second of all, I hate to be that guy, but, I'm bummed that I drank and smoked thru the whole first set, and the first half of the second set, just to find myself listening to a blackened out YEM. Yeah, ok, I realize that's ridiculous. 🤣
Is it just me, or does this sound exceptionally good for an audience recording? Perhaps it’s because it’s a small club compared to where they usually play?
