I was in prison when I heard this song, and it use to give me a feeling of yearning for freedom. Now that I'm free, I hear it, I smile and cry. I don't know why
I'm a nomad and travel around the country hiking and visiting cities and stuff. Everytime I'm back on the open road out west this is my favorite song to listen to
Had my first drink last night , to celebrate my sisters bday, since quarantine. Woke up at 3am to my brain playing this song in my head. Haven't thought of this song in 8 years.
It's 5:16 A.M. and I have to wake up at 9 A.M. for my online school because of the ongoing quarantine. I'm 15 and I'm turning 16 in a few weeks! May 30 to be exact! Just have to finish listening to this great song before I get some rest!
I used to play a video game called APB, it was a online Grand Theft Auto like game, and this song was part of the song list that played when you drove your car around. The game came with maybe 1000 songs from different artists that must have allowed it for free. But this single song stuck out to me and I played it over and over and over! I then listened to the album, and the band for all these years. I have every album, and love every album. We find new music is the strangest places now adays!
I miss this genre of dreamy 2000s indie pop. I guess, my nostalgia stems from me being in my late teens and early twenties during that time, so it's a bit rose tinted... Phoenix, Whitest Boys Alive, Radio Dept, etc. 🌥
Nostalgic as hell… I think it was fall 2009 when I heard this on a car commercial… took me days to find it, bought it and it was on repeat in the car for weeks.
Someone played this song lastnight when I was on lsd and I literally fell in love. I could feel the music playing through my body. I’m surprised I never heard it before.
Dude I remember when this album hit the mainstream, I was working my first job when I was 16 at Pac-Sun in 2010 and they used to always play it, but it never got old - I loved that job so much. It was literally the best summer of my life, I used to walk home with POCKETS full of phone numbers 😂😂 this song gives me the best nostalgia vibes out of any other song.
@@failedpayments6310 bro you never been to Pac-Sun?? Well to be honest - I'm not entirely sure that it's still around or not - BUT - if it isn't, Pac-Sun used to be a retail store that had clothes themed around "West Coast vibes". So like a lot of surfer/skater brands - I freaking LOVED that job. It was literally the best first job I think any 17 year old could have lucked out with.
@@failedpayments6310 hahaha not to mention I got 50% off of any 10 items I wanted each month with the remainder everything else I bought being 30% off. I think I literally reinvested every paycheck I got back into the place I worked at 😂😂😂
@@failedpayments6310 Pac Sun is the shortened version of the name for the mall chain store Pacific Sunwear of California. It still exists. It still has a website as well. There are 325 stores across the country. It was founded in 1980 and is based in Anaheim, California.
This song was literally my life in 2012…. It turned up on a Facebook Reel and when I heard it, it felt like all of the air inside left me. It had that type of impact on me. I haven’t listened to this song since 2013. Great memories surrounding this song, who else can agree… 🙌🏾
heard this song first on NHL 2k10 and loved it since. Haven't heard it for a long time so finding and listening to it again brings me back. This was the song of my childhood.
I can’t tell you how hard and long I’ve been looking for this song. Literally want to learn to play to guitar so i can play this song to show my appreciation for it.
Don't ask me why but this gives me nostalgia from when I was a kid on a snowy night in winter at my grandma's watching TV and hearing a commercial with this and fell in love with it.
Counting all different ideas drifting away Past and present, they don't matter Now the future's sorted out Watch, you're moving in elliptical pattern Think it's not what you say What you say is way too complicated For a minute thought I couldn't tell how to fall out It's twenty seconds 'til the last call, going hey hey hey hey hey hey Lie down, you know it's easy like we did it all summer long And I'll be anything you ask and more, going hey hey hey hey hey hey It's not a miracle we needed, and no I wouldn't let you think so Fold it, fold it, fold it, fold it Fold it, fold it, fold it, fold it Girlfriend, you know your girlfriend's drifting away Past and present, eighteen-fifty-five to nineteen-and-one Watch them build up a material tower Think it's not gonna stay anyway Think it's overrated For a minute, thought I couldn't tell how to fall out It's twenty seconds to the last call, going hey hey hey hey hey Lie down, you know it's easy, like we did it all summer long And I'll be anything you ask and more, going hey hey hey hey hey It's not a miracle we needed, and no, I wouldn't let you think so Fold it, fold it, fold it, fold it Fold it, fold it, fold it, fold it
2024 first time hearing this, comments referencing how good this genre of band music was, are so right. the intro and verse is proper addictive. ive had this on repeat. i dont know why, im a musician myself and they say the most simple beats, rhythms, melodies etc trump anything else thats complicated and "impressive", this is because the listener can relate INSTANTLY to what there hearing and almost fall into a state of being brainwashed into wanting more. this is that... so good
I loved this song when I was little and it just disappeared. I hadn’t heard or thought about it since 2012-2013 and I heard it one day at work and I remembered this song that I completely forgot about. Nostalgia really is a blessing and a curse.
Listened to this song 100 times since a while back. It's solid in a time where lots of stuff had become a soap Opera. "It's not a miracle we needed ..."
This one of those songs that u only listen to alone, ive always love how Phoenix, being that theyre from Paris, sounds so much like 1970s rock beach boys type of music
Phoenix are one of the few bands that made music that all generations loved. Kids, teenagers, young adults, adults, old farts.....everyone loves Phoenix. Very unique.
this song popped in my head while i was at work. I haven’t heard this song since i was 11 & im almost 20 now. i still remembered the lyrics and typed the hook in and found it !!!!!!
This song brings me back to my 21st Birthday in Vegas... While I was out there in 2009 (which was one of 6 times that I was there), it kept playing during what I believe was an Apple ad on a big-screen outside of that Fashion Mall by Treasure Island on the Vegas Strip.
The world is so crazy synchronistic . I remember this song from the 2k about 12 years ago. But I heard this song playing in target today and it wouldn’t pop up when I Shazammed it,but I’m scrolling through instagram and it pops up on an addd hours later the same day …
This song will be one of those many songs that will stick out for me personally. It was like a shift in music history. To be honest this song was the one that opened the door for me towards the new millennium. Not Y2K or the year 2000.....but this track. Funny how certain things work out for the common good but this timeless art piece hit the mark. It wasn't before or ahead of it's time. To me it was one of those songs that came out right at the perfect time. It was Punctual and on Point.
I was 15 when this song came out, they had a massive good era from the commercials they were in, tv shows for soundtracks, and late night shows wow good to hear this song again 😢

This song takes me back to when I still sat in the carseat, my legs too little to reach the ground, windows down next to my little sister, ma and pa still together sitting in the front and everything is OK again
To complete the day..... Take a late night cruise through the city looking out the sunroof listening to this with the volume not too loud or not too quiet.....❤
Here in Dallas, they still occasionally play this on ALT 103.7 Forgot about this song since I last heard in in 2019 until just today, when it played on the radio
