Rhiannon Giddens, Shawn Conley (bass), Maeve Gilchrist (Harp) performed live at A.R.T.'s Loeb Center in Cambridge, MA. November 2021. Omoide 思ひで ("Memories") by Tsunekichi Suzuki
The most talented ARTIST working today. If there is anything this woman cannot do it's only because she's to busy being fabulous at something else. WOW!!
Her stylings are gorgeous and I can attest that her pronunciation of Japanese is spot-on. I just wish there was a way to post the translation because the poetry of the lyrics is wonderful.
The song was played as an opening song in the Japanese drama series "Shinya Shokudo (Midnight Diner)". Thank you for your beautiful voice and performance of this nostalgic and beloved song.
@@craigbrann5231 just the melody - Suzuki told a new story with his - if you search for Midnight Diner OST on youtube, the top hit has his version with a translation of the lyrics in the video
Recollections that are imprinted on the soul, seared for eternity. They are so profound many whom receive transplants find themselves with memories that are not their own. Likewise, thoughts or memories of past lives are in reality passed on from one generation to another. Both are examples of this profound truth hidden from mankind. They are the lasting memories of your distant family members… The turtle who knows to run towards the sea and not the forest. That is why the DNA and RNA should not be altered.
Just a remarkable work with such a talented ensemble. Art and artistry lives at the change front both for the artists and society. It is part reflective and part avant garde exploration. Society is now global and such efforts are the normal evolution of art, fusion and nuance to different accepted forms.
This is the title song 'Omoide' from 'Midnight Diner' the Japanese tv series. The song was inspired by an old Irish song that was made popular by Judy Garland in the film 'Little Nellie Kelly' (1940) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JR0ESUIpmpw.html
The song misses something with this many instruments playing. The original feels so much more personal when its just a lone guitarist playing and reminiscing. This is the perfect song for Rhiannon to just sign alone while playing a guitar or a banjo.
She is so amazing!!! What a gorgeous singer and performer. Too bad musicians feel need, or are forced to have diaper faces, takes some soul out the performance.
The soul I need is also in the beauty of the human face, seeing that gorgeous concentration of a musician doing what they love. And the soul I need is the human family understanding the ecosystem of their body and nature’s perfection of coexistence with our beloved planet - ain’t no soul in a profiteering medical establishment and people believing they must fear one another and the air.
As great as Rhiannon is, She is not even diminished by silly pathetic looking orchestra in masks. God Bless you Rhiannon. Stay well and safe on tour🙏🏻🕊💜
