We have to remember that this girl has gone through ALOT. **SPOILERS** Random other kid gets taken in by her father and becomes his favorite, she studies to become a prosecutor at only 13, walking in her brother’s shadow all her life, always having to live up to the “von Karma” name. JFA was only 5 years later, when she’s 18. And she’s always put up a brave front, that von Karma pride and all the pressure of being not Franziska, but “Manfred von Karma’s daughter”. The only person she could break down in front of was the one she hated, yet loved as a sibling.
Amazing ending to an amazing game. The whole Franziska and 4th piece of evidence storyline was so interesting. I absolutely loved this whole game. Well done, Takumi.
When they said “We have no way of finding where Gumshoe crashed” and I remembered what at the time I thought was just a funny gag showing how cruel Fran was, and realised, it all clicked.
@@aisharosealeta6801 You know how Fran had a tracker on Gumshoe so she could moniter him more closely? Yeah they use that to find him later on when he crashes his car.

@@dinodoestuff I personally enjoyed case 2 story-wise, I think some of the actual gameplay could have been better. Also, one reason why this game is seen as weaker is because the cases aren't really connected, there isn't really a main plot. But I honestly think it's a more character based story. While there isnt a big event tying everything together, character motivations and backstory are a major focus for all of these cases. It's hard to follow AA1 with such a strongly connected plot with DL-6, but I think that only helps to strengthen the impact of the character development. That's why I think case 4 makes playing all the other cases worthwhile. It's the ultimate climax character-wise, where we see all the conflicting motivations and different layers of character broken down through edgeworths arrival and the events of case 4. The epilogue with Fran and Edgeworth ties up the story of the main people of focus besides Phoenix up. It's a perfect conclusion to an amazing character-driven story, even if that means that most of the actual cases may not have the best plots (I didn't mean to write so much, I'm just super passionate about the characters in these games, but you are entitled to your opinion :3)
I've only experienced 1 & 2 so far but I have to say that I'm not the biggest fan of the idea that all the cases have to be linked because Phoenix is just doing his job as an attorney, there doesn't need to be a big overarching plot IMO. It just kind of bogs it down but I suppose it's because I view these as more of interactive movies rather than games. I think every single case in 2 is better than in 1. I'll have to play through the whole trilogy to cast my final verdict but 2 crushes 1 for me.
It has some very high highs yes, the last case I'll agree is one of the absolute best in the entire series, but it's got some really low lows. Overall it's a good game, I just wouldn't call it great like 1 and 3. I do agree with that other person that the cases don't need to be tied together though, that doesn't bother me
I agree, mostly, except for points 1 and 2. I'll admit, this game has some of the best tracks in the entire series. I mean, for Pete's sake, I'm commenting this on an O.S.T. video, but to say the whole SOUNDTRACK is good...I wouldn't agree. And I don't mean by "a couple tracks are bad, therefore the whole O.S.T. is bad", I just mean in general it doesn't hold up compared to the others. In general I'd say the "standard" tracks (basically themes like Trial, Cross Examination, Objection, Investigation, you get the idea) are pretty lackluster. Relatively speaking, of course, they're great tracks, but not compared to the other two games. Like the trial theme for example, the first game has some smooth, calm music that gets you into the mood to interview some witnesses. It definitely fits, ESPECIALLY since most of the cases in that game, Phoenix can just take the "guilty" verdict or just leave without much loss from the trial itself. Most people say it as a criticism of the game, but I think it's good to establish what cases are like for Phoenix Wright, especially since it was the first game. The stakes are pretty low, so the music accompanies it. T.&T.'s trial theme is the polar opposite, it goes for this fucking BADASS trial theme that almost gives me Castlevania vibes, it goes so hard *especially* since most of the cases are *extremely* important and dramatic, it sets the mood perfectly (not to mention, it's one of the few songs in this series that leitmotifs in other songs in that game!). J.F.A.'s trial theme...is just...trying so hard but it just doesn't hit the mark. Like it's trying so hard to seem "imposing" and "dramatic" with the deep bass drums, but it just doesn't click and isn't that good. However, the UNIQUE tracks in this game are some of the best this series has to offer. "Reminiscence: The Fire Carves Scars", "Hotline of Fate", and "Core 2002" (it's weird, the first "Core 2001" theme appears so early on in the first game, it's practically a regular standard track, but "Core 2002" and "Core 2004" are some of the final tracks to be heard in the respective games.) really slap hard. However, again, MOST of the songs are meh, and I don't count songs reused from previous games. Now when it comes to point 2, yeah. Franziska is definitely a well-written character, but is that enough? Most of the characters in this entire series are written EXTREMELY well, I'm not saying Franziska is a BAD character, because she's not. She's definitely great, but especially if you're comparing it to the other PROSECUTORS of the series..."well written" isn't a valid achievement. And honestly, that's kind of not fair in a sense. Like Edgeworth and Godot, and even Manfred von Karma are written GOD-TIER level, like some of the best characters in all of fiction no doubt. Edgeworth had an insane character arc that spanned the whole game, where he was expertly introduced as the complete subversion of Payne (what you were used to so far), capital prick and borderline cheating, but his character was still so endearing and charming you dealt with it, and when Phoenix actually sparked that bolt in him to finally take on a journey to be a better person, only after (spoiler alert A.A.: P.W.) being caught in the situation he so unjustly prosecuted before is so genius. Not to mention Godot, he's almost as good as Edgeworth, and even better in some scenarios. His completely cuntish attitude being (spoiler alert A.A.: T.&T.) a façade for his own insecurities of not being there for Mia is so good, his grudge against Dahlia, his murder of Misty being the culmination of said insecurities, and the ending is just so good. Franziska meanwhile...doesn't get much character development. She's, again, definitely a great character that's written very well, but when it comes to character development, the only thing I can really think of is the *final scene of the entire game* , where it's revealed that she's secretly extremely insecure about being a failure and not living up to Edgeworth and Manfred's expectations of her. I'm not gonna say that it feels "shoved into the game", like I can definitely buy it and it does make sense, but they really don't DO a lot with it. Definitely a far cry compared to Godot and Edgeworth's incredible character arcs.
I’ve been playing video games since 2003. My first gaming console was a PS1. It has been a long time since a video game made me feel the way ace attorney did, I didn’t play it until 2023 and I felt the same magic that I used to feel as a child. Shame they don’t make them like they used to.
@@thegreatchipman Nah, I think 2-1 is far, far worse then 1-1 in my opinion. It's unnecesary to have a huge tutorial since most people will be coming from the first game, it's also longer then 1-1, and while Wellington is hateable Sahwit is so much more fun to bash over the head. T&T's introductory case not only serves as one, but a great case on it's own terms, and I feel like 2-1 needed that in order to not suck. Plus, 2-1's story just feels dumb to me, I have more issues with the logic in it then in 2-2 and 2-3. 1-1 absoultely nails it as an introduction and 2-1 is not only unnecasary but if it was the first case in the series I still think it'd be pretty bad.
An emotional roller coaster of a game. More so than any other game in the series. Also the last one before they went off the deep end with the supernatural stuff.
Seeing Franziska crying in the post credits scene was so adorable. Even thought almost my mood of her was like: F*ing little b*tch! the 4 case change my mood of her after Matt Engarde showed he was really guilty. Then I was like, right now, Phoenix is at her level, and that is really bad... fortunely, it ended good, then I think about all the shit that she probably had to take for being Manfred's daughter and I started to sympathyse with her. But when I literally saw her crying. That was her true self.
I actually waited a year between playing AA1 and AA2, so the scene where Edgeworth talks about his growth between the games and reminisces on the DL-6 trial hit even harder.
justice for all has my favorite ending in any ace attorney game, yet i feel it's almost undeserved? ending the game with that beautiful heart-to-heart between franziska and edgeworth, following it up with her monologue, all the while having this song play, it's honestly beautiful and the perfect way to resolve the relationship between franziska and edgeworth going forward. and i say it feels undeserved almost given how loosely connected justice for all's overarching narrative feels as a whole- it feels as though this ending is too good for justice for all.
oh, and to answer any questions regarding my opinion on jfa as a whole- i honestly love this game, more so than pw:aa, this is only my take on its ending.
I actually disagree - it’s so beautiful and calming, after the low points of JFA. Big Top and Reunion both had some seriously convoluted logic required to be allowed to move forward, making them some of the “hardest” cases in the series (though I feel that “difficulty” is a bit cheap.) Throw in Farewell and suddenly we have wildly raised stakes, while expecting something at least as convoluted and difficult as earlier. When it’s over, we finally get this beautiful theme as Phoenix gets a well-deserved break (Farewell happens pretty soon after Big Top,) Edgeworth opens up, and starts to crack Franziska’s façade.
@@thesquishedelf1301 I don't really have many problems with reunion, the whole folding screen thing was a little odd, but I especially don't like the convulutedness of 2-3 when Acro drops the Max Galactica statue onto Russel and then when he pulls it up Moe sees it as Max Galactica flying, even though it was like only his head and upper torso, but other than that I love JFA. Probably my favorite game in the trilogy, I am personally not a fan on 3-2 and ESPECIALLY 3-3, which imo is the worst case in the entire series, but of course I love 3-1, 3-4, and 3-5.

1st case: Very subpar 2nd case: Quite good 3rd case: Bad (it's worth noting I still enjoyed certain aspects of it) 4th case: Out of this world. Maybe the best in the franchise.
My least favorite ending theme. I don’t know what it is but I’m really picky about my ending themes xD The original will always be my favorite until something mind blowing shows up
original ending theme has got to be one of the most underrated songs in ace attorney, currently it's my second favorite or maybe even my favorite song out of all the ace attorney games
