For those of you who don’t know, Don was the guy who called out the “Marine” who attacked the Covington school kids in Washington DC. Once Don found out who he was, he made a video about it and RU-vid responded by completely shutting down his entire channel. He’s rebuilt it back from the ground up. If you share anything at all on RU-vid, this would be the one to share. Help him rebuild it back to what it once was. Even after all that, Don prevailed and kept making these videos or posted them on his website.

He actually worked for the Village People as head of security according to his book, "Keeping The Backdoor Closed, Special Agent on Tour". He was on vacation in Key West (the key to happiness) when he hear screams coming from the hotel pool. One of the backup dancers fell into a 4' deep pool getting water in their eyes, so he jumped in saving both the dancer and the "Naval Uniform" they wore. The dancer was too upset to continue the video shoot for "In The Navy" so they hired this guy. He loved it, the uniform never wrinkled he could eat, work and sleep in it, plus he could add metals & it smelled pretty. The band was so impressed, that they hired him for tour security. He wore the outfit adding stories of his "armed services" and demanded to be called by a code name, "Danger Zone". He included stories in his book of how they lost some good men-to hotel swimming pools, hair dryers shorting out, being held as a prisoner after the band's accountant forgot the band's credit card & he spent 18 days inside a restaurant in Spain and losing one man to eating uncooked seafood. "We lost a lot of men to tummy aches, headaches, and sunburn...I had to leave them in lobbies of hotels, often running out the door, something a tour security agent never does but the wounded would say, 'Go on Danger Zone, get the boys back to the airport, I'll waddle back to my hotel room"...you never leave another man behind, but it was too hot, plus they had cherry slushies on the bus and I loved them" he added.

I'm having flashbacks from the time I served in the GRAVY SEALS , back in the 80s when we ambushed a Golden Corral buffet in Dallas Texas.... LOL

Stationed in Turkey, Army, 1985-86 sixty miles outside of Istanbul, the hotel you mentioned was used by us back then as a drop/ off-pick up point , met a lot of U.S. military members who would be staying there. We worked along side of the regular Turkish soldiers, conscripts as you call them, mostly illiterate peasant type guys, funny, friendly guys wearing old uniforms and carrying what looked like ww2 rifles, we were a very modern force to them and we were big men compared to their usual small stature... Thanks for reminding me of days gone by.....

Don just strikes me as the absolute perfect American. He just is seething with confidence but not arrogance, He's as badass as they come and I love that he hasn't lost his confidence in his older years and man I just love this page

I was in Turkey in 98. The Commandos were hard as nails. I stood night watch with a Turkish soldier on this airfield and we were comparing rifles. He didn’t speak English and I didn’t speak Turkish so it was a little bit awkward. We just smiled and nodded. He loved my NVGs. They didn’t have muzzle awareness that is for sure. They carried their weapon like a guitar, and as he smoked his cigarette he would smile, and turn, and point it straight at my chest. He saw me move out of the way a few times and then he finally figured out what he was doing and then he pointed his muzzle towards the ground and it was all good. So later that night I was in my bag and I hear a single loud shot. At first I’m thinking oh shit! But it was one shot from within our position, and it’s not like we were in combat. I didn’t hear anything for a few minutes so I just went back to bed. Probably a negligent discharge, or maybe one of the Turks got hungry and saw a squirrel. So the next morning I saw a kid in the chow line and his face was black and blue. My buddy who stood a later watch in the night said they beat the hell out of him. About a week later we went to their camp up in the mountains near Syria and we thought it was awesome. They had this awesome obstacle course. None of us had been able to do any PT there, so we staged our rifles, stripped our blouses and decided that we would go run their course. As soon as we put our rifles down, these dudes start going into combat mode and they start setting up a perimeter. We were all kind of confused and we just stopped what we were doing. The Commander walked up and said that there were Syrian snipers in the hills who would love to take out a Marine. We grabbed our shit, apologized and we all went inside and ate some good food. I mean, I shit my brains out afterwards but the food was tasty. And I still think they were bullshitting me about the snipers but I sure as hell didn’t want to find out the hard way.

What I like most about this channel is the stories that Don tells. He's a good storyteller with great sense of humor. Thank you for making this content and doing the good work you do.

Was never a seal, but recently (2020) retired from the Army after 20 years and I cannot believe the amount of people pretending to have been in the military period, let alone saying they were seals. I had no idea it was this bad. Doing great work Mr. Shipley keep it up!!!!

Now listen Don, I was a Navy SEAL. Fighter Attack Squadron 15 (VFA-15) out of Jax, Florida was my day job. I completed BUD/S in night school and correspondence courses. CO Cmdr. Landon sent me TAD to DEVGRU on weekends when I was sober enough to participate. Basically, I made Team 6 what it is today (or maybe yesterday) but they knew I'm a dangerous man, capable of taking over the world with those boys, so they promised me a case of beer and promotion from Jet Mechanic 2nd Class to retired Vice Admiral to go away quietly. Seemed reasonable. I 'updated' my DD-214 with all my night school buddies from BUD/S. Maybe we should chat?

Hey Don, the Turkish Navy had one of Our (US) Diesel/Electric Boats and were participating in War Games, snuck up on one of Our Nuke Fast Attack Boats, and said "Oscar Oscar.." then pulled beside us on the USS Orion, La Madd. They were great and extremely Proud.

That one dude is or has been nicknamed Squeaks at some point in his life.
