Photo Editing and Manipulation with AI - Luminar NEO (Better than Photoshop?) 

I prefer Photoshops monthly where by I know what I’m paying and they update often. Skylum have unfortunately ripped me and many others off year upon year offering software such as Luminar, Luminar 3, Luminar AI and now NEO, all with advertised features that NEVER appear on release, yet it’s stuff we’ve all paid our money up front for. Without fail year upon year. Now yes they do update and eventually, like now wirh Neo do we have the full features as advertised before release but what… four months later? Plus, like with many other release, there are still features missing from previous iterations that most people use. Like the histogram, where did that go, yes that’s back now but come on, that’s just one of many things. I like to pay for what I know I’m getting. Not for what I will get 4-6 months after release - especially when in just another 3-4 months they’ll announce another new Luminar with a new code name after it with ‘advanced features’ that again we will have to wait for months after release to actually get. As powerful as they’re software is, especially the masking, it’s just one burn too many for me. Photoshop/Lightroom/ACR have very powerful new mask techniques now, so I use Luminar as an add on only and not my main editor.

I'm more into buy once and own it.

@@vmaxdani the problem with that (and LUMINAR) is that they expect you to pay once a year for their ‘new’ software. So in essence you’re subscribing without the monthly pay.

The same features that were in Luminar AI, and Luminar 4, oh and Luminar 3. The features you see now have evolved ever so slightly and work a bit faster. Nothing else has changed. Don’t be fooled.

Hair masking for people in images without lots of straggly bits works quite well in general but yes I agree, the people or shots with hair everywhere it doesn’t like. Even with the refine brush. Stick with photoshop, or Lightroom/ACR - as they’re masks are now spectacular. Even On1 Photo RAW has better masking than Skylums Luminar.

Are you one of the fools, like me, who purchased L3, L4, LAI and now Neo, and realising that they’re identical? LOL

@@WanderFeetChronicles No LAI was my first. With the early adopter deal it's not a lot of money to purchase NEO and I was looking forward to a few of its features such as spot removal and line removal etc, plus having the latest software is important I feel. I'm sure it will become great in time but as yet I never go to it.

@@LeeAxonisDigifin trust me, this is the same model they use every year with every iteration. They sell you on items. You preorder at the low price and SIX months afterwards the software is complete as advertised - and then three months later they announce their new software and rinse and repeat. Shame though as in essence ONE item is upgraded each year, nothing new, and everyone has to upgrade as they don’t update older software. It’s a yearly scam. One I won’t be partaking in ever again after this year.
