Finally, finally someone giving green a shout out! Thank you, Kim. It is my favorite color, because I think it has a lot more shades than people realize. You have the dark, subdued blue-green of conifer trees, then the generic green of grass, then the neon green of new growth, the turquoise and emerald of water, and the list goes on.

Hi Kim. I feel most at ease and relaxed when wandering through nature. We here in NZ are nearly into springtime and the beginnings of new life, a time to enjoy and embrace these new beginnings. As you quite rightly highlight green is the bedrock of nature, it drives life in most, it not all plant life on this earth. As many before me have commented, it provides the peace and tranquility we look for within nature. Embrace green as this is natures canvas that supports everything else. 😊

Thanks Kim, thought provoking video. I’m a golfer so spend a lot of time surrounded by green and you’re quite right it is calming and wonderful. However, as a photographer green gives me a problem. I’m struggling between what the camera produces and what my eye sees. The camera greens are always greener more luxurious, more poppy , saturated than what I see. They look great but they don’t represent reality. However, if I desaturate them so they more resemble what I see then they look duller and somewhat less interesting. Honestly, I haven’t resolved this yet. Only yesterday I was playing about with different Fuji simulations totally based on how the greens look. I wonder if others have this struggle and how they have resolved it.

Really interesting. I had no clue green was a color that didnt get much love. Ive only been taking photos for roughly a year - so still learning. And just now taking a deep dive into wildlife. To me it only seems natural to include it as its in such abundance in the environment. The biggest thing ive learned so far is to just go out there and do your own thing and not worry too much about it. Its Like you say all the time, just being out getting away from the busyness of every day life and reconnecting to the earth is a large part of the experience.

Hi Kim! Glad to see you're feeling better! I found myself nodding in agreement with pretty much everything you said in this video. Personally I love the colour green. I think the trouble is, that when we think of that colour, we tend to think of it as just one shade of green, when in actual fact there are, of course many shades of green. And the way the light reacts to the colour green can be absolutely spectacular!

Having moved to an area that is/was heavily industrialised green is not really a prevalent colour although much excellent work has been done and is still being done in creating nature reserves. What we do have though is coast line where an abundance of lush greens are exposed when the tide is out that are just so stunning especially if combined with a deep blue sky which I find totally mesmerising.

I don't have the time or the money to travel around all summer looking for places with colors and I can't get better at photography if my camera is collecting dust so, in the summer, it will be green scenes. Yes, it is difficult to find anything inspiring in summer when it's a wall of green out there. Especially if you use a wide angle lens. I think you just have to get a little closer, like you do, and reveal all the color contrasts and textures.

I follow your point: green is the color of nature and we should embrace it. It's my primary photography subject. But the thing why (portrait) photographers avoid it, is because it puts a green shine on the human skin, which does not look very healthy. As long as there is enough sky, light, brown or yellow in the picture, it should be in balance.

Kim, I don’t know which nature photographers you associate with, but I'm stunned to hear that any of them are dismissing or even "demonizing" green. In the Pacific Northwest (where I live), a hotbed of landscape photography, much of the work of the most well-known photographers uses green as a key color, to the point where even "grand landscapes" can be studies in green.

Green never worried me until we went digital I think its the worst colour to get right! its like shooting bluebells with film....I once worked for a company where everything was painted green I did ask why and they said its one of the hardest working colours! it never fades and never chips away, and the joke was when the painters are around keep moving or else they will paint you green too! I hope you like my answers to green and no there is nothing in my house that I would paint green....Thank you for this weeks topic! Take care...

Green is a difficult colour to work with in photographic terms, yet when mastered correctly it is beautiful. On the otherhand, without this green thing, we'd all be dead very quickly. I have heard some ridiculous comments about the green foliage in the last two days on Y.T. Two well known Y.T characters have been rather unkind to it. One called it ' all this green shit ' and the other said that he hated green so much that he'd desaturate it greatly and then shift its hue towards yellow. Makes no sense to me.

The Bright Field, by R. S. Thomas I have seen the sun break through to illuminate a small field for a while, and gone my way and forgotten it, But that was the pearl of great price, the one field that had treasure in it. I realize now that I must give all that I have to possess it. Life is not hurrying on to a receding future, nor hankering after an imagined past. It is the turning aside like Moses to the miracle of the lit bush, to a brightness that seemed as transitory as your youth once, but is the eternity that awaits you

Its a good job I like the colour green, seeing as I'm dressed in green from head to toe at work. And so is everybody else.🤣🤣 And I've got a meter wide image of my Patterdale, as a puppy on a bed of lush green grass, taking pride of place on the wall. On a completely random topic, I've stupidly formatted a CF Express card and then even more stupidly deleted the images on my computer before backing them up. Do you know of any good photo recovery software that may save the day?

@frankinblackpool
@frankinblackpool Год назад
@@kimgrantphotography I found a solution which could save you a world of pain should you do such a stupid thing as myself. I tried Disk Drill which cost me £83 and was unable to restore my images. Even though the site says 100% money-back guarantee, they have a Non Refund policy! However I tried some completely free software called PhotoRec. It works in Windows but only from the Command Line. Its very simple to use and more importantly, it found every single one of my images which are one of those more recent RAW file formats of RW2. PhotoRec recovered not only the RAW images but more importantly, the metadata for photo editing. The only thing it could not recover was the file names which is normal for data retrieval software. Stay clear of Disk Drill, however I can't recommend PhotoRec highly enough.
