I for one am not a photographer that spends a ton of time on Instagram, but I find it to be an incredibly useful tool for developing goals for the new year. I've always been a big proponent of goal setting and identifying areas of improvement and what better time to do this than the days leading up to the new year. I state the 'goal" or desire as I AM rather than I will, or I shall. If I say "I am" then it feels as if it is taking place each time, I pick up a camera!

Quintessentially I need to invest more time and money to get to unfamiliar epic locations during epic light. That's what it all boils down to. Nice exercise though.

I tried to do the Instagram thing a couple of years ago and never could figure it out. I could never put my images from my PC on it. It seemed only set up to work with smartphones. I haven't been back since. When I asked others about it, I was told it was a platform set up for smart phones and not computers. Don't know if it's changed or not?

If I get extra cash next year I will definitely be getting a DJI Mini 3 Pro for photo and video making. I realized in 2022 I just don't enjoy going out with my bulky DSLR. If I got back into street/architecture photography, I would get a smaller camera without a protruding lens. For landscape, I want to have more fun, with aerial shots, and I think where I live, it will yield much better results than going out in nature as it's fenced everywhere and really hard to get land level shots with interesting composition unless I take my car, waste gas driving around and literally stop in the middle of the road to take a shot here and there, which is really not something I enjoy. With a drone, I will do 2 hobbies in one, and open up so much better opportunities for composition and even enjoy dabbling in video making which I really don't with a regular camera.

Thank you for another informative and well-thought-out video. However, have you looked at Vero? It's a much better platform for photographers. Instagram is focusing on reels and videos and the algorithm thing is so frustrating. Vero posts everything in the order it was posted by the photographer, no algorithm, you see what you want, not what it wants you to see or is paid for you to see. It's worth taking the time to see it. Happy New Year, looking forward to more of your great videos in the future.

This is the simplest yet most powerful way to get better, Mark! Instead of doing it yearly, we can make a note of doing this exercise quarterly - that way, we won't just be tracking our work but getting better at the same time by studying other photographers' work. You teach not only about photography but also take it more in depth or should I say take up subjects from behind the scenes to help others progress in their photography journey.
