A friend of mine lost their mum in 9/11. She called me up crying when this happened and just kept saying “it’s happening again” over and over. I had no clue what she was talking about and I thought the world was ending honestly. It was only after she calmed down enough to form proper words that I found out and looked more into it. My heart goes out to all the victims of this horrific event.

One can't watch what the world witnessed and not find a connection through tragic irony of the two devastating events.

I'm an owner of a condo unit in a 7 story building located in WI that was evacuated by the city in December due to threat of collapse because they feared another Surfside would happen. It's very hard for me to listen to the stories of the survivors who describe the moments when they were suddenly awakened and in automatic fear for their lives. I fully understand this glimpse into what they went through. By the grace of God our situation didn't end with people losing their lives - but I'm fully aware this could have been us.

I know a guy who, I'm assuming, lived in your building. I felt so bad the residents were displaced. But yeah, it's better than a tragedy like Surfside. Hope things are looking brighter for you all.

I think that piece of land should be turned into a beautiful garden with trees flowers and fountains ....birds playing in the water ....just a peaceful place where families of the victims can visit and remember their loved ones in a beautiful environment. RIP 🤍🌸

@@megatuanis I wonder who would buy an apartment there. Not only from the moral aspect, but history repeating itself. After this tragedy I would never buy a condo in a high rise built on sand and so close to the ocean. The maintenance fees will be so high now to keep a building like that, I imagine. I also couldn't live with the thought of family members resenting me for living there, and for good reason. But this is me. I have a heart.

This was captivating and beautiful. It told a visceral human story, highlighted the importance of the imagery being captured and linked the work of the photographers in the field to the suffering and work of those directly involved so as not to steal focus from the latter. Thank you for sharing this, MH.

@@WhittyPics the owners need to be held accountable for killing innocent lives. I think the rules of maintaining condos and such should be changed. force these contractors to renovate or get thier lisence provoked and lose money. get more frequent check-ups on the structure of the building. i feel there needs to be more regulation and requirements to prevent future incidents like this.

I think that who ever purchases this property has a change of mind and just says let's make it a memorial park where people can visit and sit. Mourn and spend time with others who lost their loved ones .
@jadedelarge8929

That would be a beautiful and honorable thing to do, but I doubt it. I don't see any investor spending millions of dollars to not profit from it. It just doesn't make sense in the business world. If they build again though, who in the right mind would buy a place like that? I wonder if there is a law that prohibits the actual owners the right to sell due to a criminal negligence. Then the city could make a beautiful resting place and memorial for people to visit.
