This comparison is totally useless because it can be easily biased, depending on the adjustments made for each phone in particular. We don't know ANYTHING about the values chosen for each phone (iso, wb, shutter speed etc) so we just have to take for granted your 'professional photographer'' s renditions as 'objective'. Not very professional, sorry.

Xiaomi 13 ultra blows both phones out of the water. The way xiaomi's software handles photos really reminds me of the Pixel for some reason-good HDR (fewer blown-out highlights) and a neutral/warm color tone. Would be interesting to see how these phones fare in terms of video!

Loved the video🩵 Gotta say people should appreciate Xiaomi for such a great camera smartphone & stop always hyping Samsung, Apple & Pixel. I’ve the Galaxy S23 Ultra as my main phone & iPhone 12 Pro Max as my secondary one, I really love both of them for each of their camera performances & strengths But that Xiaomi is another level in night photography.

Samsung night photos look like you purposly blur the lenses, mine photos are far more detailed and crisper

Who is this professional? Didn’t look very professional to me. Sony rarely misses focus. And if shooting manual you could absolutely pick better exposure points. I don’t completely buy this test.

"pro" photographer that couldn't dial in the correct WB or measure exposure correctly 🙄 right... And plus a pro photographer would only ever use pro settings on landscapes or tripod use scenarios for long exposures and studio work and they would shoot in RAW .. on the galaxy you have expert raw to retain as much detail as possible in the highlights and shadows for editing in Lr etc. I love you videos don't get me wrong but this one didn't seem thought through enough a lot of little details rushed and looked over. Hopefully the next one is better. 🙏🏻

xiaomi is the next huawei, with the leica partnership. but, with the absence of leice in new huawei phones, they still managed to produce stellar phone cameras with their x-mage. i have the base model xiaomi 13.this phone is better than the pro model just because of the size. the cameras are almost the same

Hi Versus... Wonderful camera comparison as usual. I own Xiaomi 13 Ultra myself. Had Chinese ROM originally, but recently flashed EU ROM on it. Can you tell me which ROM you have on your phone, because i found difference in processing in LEICA VIBRANT modes in Chinese and EU ROM myself after using both! Just want to know please!

Samsung s23 ultra can't be in a photography contest, too little details, too much sharpening, too much saturation, bad quality of computing imo

This comparison is purely subjective. I had a completely different opinion than the author on many photos. For the test to be meaningful, photos taken with a real, high-end professional camera should be added to the comparison as a reference. Then give points to photos that would be closest to the quality from a professional camera, not those that seem ok to random people.

Y didn't u mention the sizes of 1 inch sensor in DSLR and mobile is different?

The thing is not to know which iso, wb, shutter speed etc, have been used but to know that a professional photographer has been commissioned to test each device to the best of them in pro mode... and the result is clear, I just see the facts, the functionalities of the 13U seem simple and effective those of the 1V seem a little bit overestimated or much more complex to manage without spending all the night... those of the S23U seem weak or non-existent. It would be interesting if the Versus team could make the same comparison without going through a pro photographer ;) Huge work, Bravo !

I have to say that Xiaomi is to be congratulated. these days there was a small show in my city I went, I have a Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE I thought the recordings weren't going to be as good, nor were the photos. However, I know how to work with the pro mode, but so far I only saw the Pro mode for photography I don't know if it was on Miui 14.0.8 that released the Pro mode for videos I just have to say that.... The recordings I made with this device in Pro mode were really a huge surprise! My colleague who has an iPhone 11 was extremely surprised Yes I got night recordings in Pro mode better than iPhone 11. Xiaomi has optimized Pro mode and optimized software for photography lately From Miui 12.5 to Miui 14.0.8, I really have to congratulate you, because the Photo Software from there to here has changed in a very big way! Xiaomi still has some things to fix, but so far for an advanced Intermediate it has achieved something surprising in my opinion I am now thinking of acquiring the Xiaomi 13 or 13 Pro to test it. If I don't like these devices I'll go to Google, unfortunately I've already tried with the S23 and I didn't like it, I ended up giving it to my father I didn't like the S23 because of Samsung's system, it's not bad! It's very good, but I can't like OneUi

What about the photos from other lences. I think they r just there to fill the number on your favourite.

I am photographer and I use the S23 vanila... I have no need for fancy phones, the S23 takes 95% photos as well as the S23 Ultra or the 2 other phones, IMHO. Next time, add the S23, S22, Xiaomi 12t in the mix and see what "the photographer" says ;-)

S23 photos is fake or not automatic settings. I have one S23 ultra. Settings automatic and i clear all lens always before i take a photo. My photos and videos is better... This video is a xiaomi commetrial...

Props to your efforts and honest review. But for a more real life test for manual modes, it would be better to test the manual on the scenes that require creativity and manual control. Since majority of your shots needed no manual setting and Auto mode would've just been as good and if not better (since it'll have auto HDR). Manual mode would out perform the auto mode when the scene requires some creativity and manual control to make a good image. For example a scene with high contrast, or a scene with a very lit background, or a shot of a moving object that needs some motion blur, and even a night scene in darkness or under moon light or a scene of some moving light sources (like light trial of vehicles), or an astrophotography shot. Bcuz it's kinda useless if you don't adjust the settings like (shutter speed, exposer and white balance). Unless you just want to avoid of HDR or AI over processing and missing with your shot.

Ever since portrait mode became good almost all the pictures I take of people are using portrait mode and in that area Samsung trumps both Sony and Xiaomi...

I wonder if I could get Sony's output closer to what the 13 Ultra's pictures look like with the help of some editing and using the "Pro Mode". I'm looking for a new camera phone and I hate curved screens, which pretty much just leaves me with the Xperia 1 in the high end segment (well...that or Apple)

xiaomi did a fantastic job. but it should focus on human subjects too. Finally xiaomi beats the camera king s23 ultra. if xiaomi improves selfies and colors of human subjects then its end of the samsung era.

therefore among there 3 phones, the best phone overall is xiaomi 13 ultra. xiaomi 13 ultra has the best chipset performance, also it has the best camera.

Xiaomi is one step ahead for those of us who are more interested in the camera.

I’m in the US, but I have to admit these Chinese phones are killing it the camera department. It’s really too bad about the lack of Google services, as that’s a deal breaker for me. Maybe Samsung will give us a full 1 inch sensor on their next major hardware refresh. I think the Xperia phones are still a bit too expensive, and better suited for professionals.

Out of the three, Samsung is definitely the one I can miss. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra proves that sensor size is more important than triple-digit resolution. Personally, the Sony is my choice because of the still-relevant headphone jack and microSD card slot.

OK, now I can clearly see why so many brands go in totally wrong direction with their computational photography. If all you count is how they elevate shadows and suppress highlights in the sky, ten the result is obviously totally flat unnatural photo with visible HDR. And that is so ugly. And how about lens quality? For example at 6:21 don't you see the directional flare that Xiaomi and Samsung do? They should have gotten 0 points for these, these pictures are unacceptable. I had Xiaomi and it was terrible. It required so much effort to squeeze at least a little bit natural photo from it. I returned it after one week. Sony is the only brand that can make naturally looking photos. And yes, despite occasional blowouts. But I do not care about them, they are nothing terrible.
