After 3 days of wildlife photography in Namibia, I am finally getting in to the swing of things. I capture my 3 favourite images on our last morning in Etosha National Park, one of which is a Lion hunting her prey.

I kind of figured as much. I suspect the look on your face would have been substantially different if you'd just witnessed a Wildebeest torn to pieces and eaten alive right in front of you. Nice job on the photo though.

That photo of the Lion Hunt... I have no words. That photo is simply incredible, the black and white is such a nice touch and you can feel the tension and the action in a photo. I honestly think that is one of your best photos ever.

The shot of the lion hunting is just absolutely phenomenal on so many levels, the composition, focus, colour (tones), drama, emotion, speed, aggression, it just goes on and you seriously nailed every element. Absolutely Stunning.

For a landscape photographer, you have Skills in the wildlife front. What an astounding shot. The look of fear in the wildebeest eye. The dust flying, you feel this image in the gut. Bloody fantastic. Well thought out, crafted and you guys made your own luck. I'm going to watch this again.

Those eyes and smile after that lion hunt. You could see that this was something special. Well done capturing that scene and vlogg about it at the same time. Perfect image! And yes, we do create our own luck. I agree. :)

That’s a prize winner. Considering that lions have a 30 percent success rate on hunts. Seems the best images are in the chase. The dust, expressions, and expertise in shutter settings are perfect. Well done. So glad you are enjoying the amazing and ever present excitement of AFRICA. Welcome.

Here's me, slowly catching up, working my way through your body of work from the start. Landed on this and went: WOW! You spun me back 26 years to when I visited the Cradle of Man. What a place, right? I shot 1000 slides back then and ended up with maybe 10 truly memorable pix but it was worth it. Truly worth it. (If only i knew where the slides were!) Thank you Tom. Your productions are terrific and I look forward to the next chapter every couple of days.

Thomas, I've been watching your vid's since day one. That shot of the lion in chase is beyond good, it captures a world almost gone. Wonderful, atmospheric, full of energy and awe inspiring. No wonder you looked happy on the turn around. You obviously know what makes a wildlife shot real. Do more and don't restrict yourself to landscapes. Let's have more of this and thank you.

Hi Thomas, great video...I don’t know how many chase shots you binned but that final one just sums up the whole atmosphere of Etosha for me...the vast open spaces, the dust and the chase itself illustrates the fine balance between life and death for both prey and predator...the fear in the wilderbeast eyes and the determination of the lioness...superb

I'm a very infrequent poster on public social media but that shot was INCREDIBLE ! Thank you SO much for sharing it with us. I liken photography to an artist at work. You can give them the best brushes in the world, doesn't mean they can paint a good picture. Your posts have guided me in learning the art of photography. Long may they continue. (i am still pretty much a beginner but i have passion, and thanks to you a good insight into the science)

Brilliant video. Your images were amazing, but I bet they weren’t a hundredth as good as being there witnessing nature at its more raw and beautiful. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a look of awe and wonder on any other video as you had in this one. You do make your own luck, there’s no doubt about it, but you didn’t make it by getting up early, or at least that was only a small part of it. You started making your luck when you started the years of hard work and going without to improve your craft, those calendars you sent back because the printing wasn’t good enough, the broken filters in force ten gales, the frozen wild camps and your endless journey seeking perfection. You, more than most, have work extraordinarily hard in creating your luck. Well done.

The thrill of wildlife photography. You either make the photograph or not. Lots of near misses. But when you nail it, there is a joy peculiar to those who have been there; who know what it takes.
