Join me for a day out at my local river in Devon photographing the UK's only aquatic songbird, the dipper.
This is my first attempt at filming whilst out in the field doing wildlife photography but I really wanted to share with you how I achieve some of my wildlife images, so I hope you enjoy.

Camera's used: Canon 1dxmkii and the Canon M50
Lenses used: Canon 500mm f4 and Canon 10-18mm

This was absolutely superb Richard, great work! One of the most enjoyable wildlife photography videos I've seen on RU-vid, and it's your first! Really looking forward to the next ones. And I completely agree, having those close-up moments with wildlife when they aren't disturbed by your presence is just the best! Sam.

Such a great video Richard. Superbly filmed, the music was perfect, and what an amazing little bird! This is the type of video I would love to film for my channel but I didn't think anyone would want to watch. The views you are getting are proof that people will watch this type of content. Again apologies for the late comment, I like the fact that your work includes the birds enviroment/ surrounding, a lot of other photographers try so such to isolate them from the background. Keep it up.

Ahhh no worries, I love the fact you’ve taken the time to watch the older videos and comment. That’s one thing about RU-vid, you can share images where the subject is smaller in the frame. Whereas platforms like Instagram I always feel compelled to heavily crop to gain the viewers attention. Have a wonderful day 👍

I will be down to North Devon in May to photograph the dippers lucky to have two weeks near Lynton every year now ! Also planing to explore more of Exmoor and the coastline. Great first video subscribed 👍

Great first video and footage of the dipper. I could clearly see the bird dipping as it stood on that rock - I'm not a bird expert but I wonder if that's how it got its name?

Brilliant First Wildlife Vlog buddy! Loved the flow and talk to camera explanations and how polite you are about things in front of the camera haha. Stunning clips and photos of the Dipper, my absolute favourite was the clip at 13:00 the lighting, colours, and super close up, quality was amazing! One thing I did notice though was kinda stuttering in the pan clip at 0:58, felt like it kept wanting to fight going right when panning left, (Maybe IS was the issue not sure).

great image well done where r u going to photograph deers and where r u going t capture puffins have u been up to northumberland and in yorkshire there is deers im hoping to try meet up with other photographers this year what camera and lens do u use im using nikone z7 with 24-200 but looking into a wildlife lens either 300mm with converter or 70-200 with converter if i could affod it id be looking at the 500mm Pf 5.6 what do u use for wildlife

Brilliant! If this is how good your very first video is, I can’t wait to see what else you have in store. Very engaging, good length of video and nice balance between footage/images of the subject vs pieces to camera....something many established vloggers fail to get right. On another note, I see you’ve got almost the identical tripod to me, but you have a stumpy little centre column. Have you replaced it or done a hack and cut it down so you can get the tripod lower to the ground?

@@mywildlifeimages interesting. Mine is the carbon version so I'm a bit reluctant to just grab the hacksaw as I don't imagine it will easy to get a clean cut/file any raw edges.
