Part Of The Flock is a bird photography series where I'll bring you up close with some of India's resident and migratory birds.
Episode 1 - A Bed Of Roses:
In recent years, Lesser Flamingos have been migrating to Navi Mumbai in unfathomable numbers. Their figures have gone up from 120,000 in 2019 to over 150,000 in 2021, due to reduced human activity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mumbai now hosts India's second largest congregation of Flamingos after Kutch.
This episode features behaviours like the iconic Flamingo courtship dance / mating ritual, 4k 120fps slow motion footage, and it also sheds light on some of the threats that their wetland habitats face.
