In this video, "Photographing the milky way, (wide angle star photography), I use my Samyang 14mm f2.8 wide angle prime lens, Astro-modified Canon 80d, Sony A7r2, the Optolong L pro filter, and my Ioptron Sky Guider Pro star tracker to capture a winter sky panorama from my bortle 2-3 neighborhood..
For this project i used the Move Shoot Move Z plate designed by Astrophotographer Alyn Wallace to help keep my tracked exposures completely level for each panel.. I am also working on Part 2, (going over how I combined all the data into the final image) which should be posted next week sometime..
Hopefully this video can help someone out and inspire others to get creative with this awesome prime lens!!
here are a few links to the gear I used to help with this project..

Great video, here in England, we might hear a hedgehog at night, not a coyote 😲, again great work, loved the final picture 👏👏

Smashing video. Great to see someone else in WVa taking advantage of the dark skies here. I'm going to have to try some landscape stuff. Too focused on DSOs right now.

One of my fav lenses, i use the Samyang's 85mm, 135mm as well and the bonus here is that Extra Dispersion glass is use in all of them. Nice work John.

Thanks for this video Jonathan! Really enjoyed it (As always). Living under Bortle 9 skies I'm quite jealous of your awesome sky. I had the same camera lens that I used for a trip to Chile, and it's a great piece of equipment. Really liked the way you told the story in this video. Not only did you get a great end-result, but the quality of your video production just gets higher and higher. Good work. Clear skies!

Hey Jakob, thanks for appreciating and noticing my efforts brother! I wish you could see the skies here at milky way season... truly incredible man! I have a lot of projects planned for this year, hopefully my consistency will steadily increase to.... Well, that's the plan anyway, 😆

Thank you for this video! I am an amateur in macro photography but I would like to learn to expand my knowledge by trying astrophotography, because I find it so beautiful 🤩I have a Canon eos 2000D, do you think the lens is compatible with my camera? Or depending on the type of photos you need a more efficient box if I had just bought the Samyang 14mm f2.8?

Amazing photo! I am new to astrophotography, so you have any advice for beginners? Thank you for sharing.

Thank you! 😊 My advice would be to learn the constellations and where they are located.. learn where Andromeda is located, along with some of your favorite objects.. start widefield with astrophotography, NOT a huge scope, but some small refractor. Many of these targets can be captured using a very modest widefield telescope. If your wanting something for visual use, go with an 8 in dobsonian scope, as it will be very easy to learn on and give you incredible sharp views...

I haven't had a chance to try the tamron, but I love the 14mm.. it's always been a favorite lens of mine and for the price, it's hard to beat
