Hi guys, hope you are all staying safe and well! The weather has been incredible lately, so I wasn’t going to let a broken laptop and camera stop my imaging sessions. Currently borrowing from someone else and I fixed the laptop myself, so everything seems fine! Come along with me tonight as I photograph two stunning galaxies, M81 &M82, in one frame, near the constellation Ursa Major. This is my first-time using plate solving in APT’s Point Craft, so fingers crossed that having no hand controller makes the process a little easier. Clear skies to you all 

You're doing great, not only the astrophotography but your presentation and production skills too. Even my 89-year-old mother-in-law who knows nothing about astronomy enjoys your videos, especially knowing you're a Scottish lass, as her family came over from Scotland a few generations ago. She says your excitement and enthusiasm for the subject are infectious, even though she doesn't understand everything. Take care and keep up the good work.

When you will upgrade your astrophotography rig with electronic focuser (recommend one from deep sky dad - low price, good quality, good support) and dummy battery (power supply for DSLR) you will be able to run automated sequence (plate solving and centering of your target, autofocusing during sequence, automated meridian flip, etc.) with N.I.N.A or another astro imaging software.

This is awesome! I got my first proper telescope at the start of this year, and it has been really fun to use. It doesn’t seem to be very useful at viewing objects further away than Saturn, and Jupiter and Saturn themselves are difficult to get clear. But it’s really good for looking at the moon or Mars.

Hi, I wonder why you use a eqmod cable? Your EQ6 R Pro has an USB port (Just as mine does). Just use that one it's the same (Just use the COM port that pops up in win10, and use 115200 8N1 in EQMOD), I use it al the time with the EQ6MOD. You can even leave the handcontroller attached if you want to (I don't). Nice video's and have fun! Clear sky's!

Just discovered your channel, this is awesome work and great dedication to the hobby! Plus the production values are amazing (incredible editing work - I don't have that patience)! One quick remark - at around 1:00 I see you putting on the OTA before the counterweights! With a small refractor that's usually fine, but can end in a disaster with larger scopes (plus the EQ6-R RA clutch can slip surprisingly easily on some samples). Note that there is some free software that could let you do the sequencing, centering, platesolving, guiding initiation, end of sequence parking etc. from one place (I use NINA from nighttime-imaging.eu/, latest Beta, which I ended up contributing code to) - it may or may not work with your DSLR however so would need to be tested. Keep it up, this is awesome, and I'm subscribed now :) Clear Skies from Tokyo.

I spent the last 2 clear nights imaging M81-M82. 4 hours of RGBLHa with Astrodon filters on a cooled ASI 1600 on a WO 81mm and locked in on PHD2. This followed by half a day of processing and my image sucks. It's almost as bad as yours. I do admire your enthusiasm. When is M31 coming back?

Another great video Helena but this is the second time I've seen you make a possibly dangerous mistake on your setup. I'm sure other amateur astronomers familiar with EQ mounts can chime in with their horror stories. When you are setting up your mount, you should ALWAYS put the counter-weight bar and counter-weights on the mount BEFORE mounting the scope. It's just a safety measure. Imagine what can happen if your R.A. axis comes unlocked after you put on the scope but you don't have any counter-weights on? You could have a very expensive accident. As a general rule, you should put the bar and weights on and leave them on the heavy end until after you get the scope mounted. Then slide them up to the proper balance point. Keep up the enthusiasm and great videos and congrats on the M81-82 job!
