Yes, guns are permitted in Yellowstone National Park. Park visitors are able to openly carry legal handguns, rifles, shotguns and other firearms per a federal law approved by Congress and signed by President Barack Obama in February 2010. Concealed weapons are allowed by state statute.

Pretty good video guys. I always have my Udap on my side. Couple things. In 2010, the federal government made it legal to carry firearms in national parks. That said, I think most calibers that are commonly carried would be pretty useless stopping a charging grizzly. Also, even this was a video about you taking grizzly photos, you sort of presented a generalized response to bear encounters. I would have like to see some differentiations made. A charging grizzly and a charging black bear should be handled differently in some aspects. Thanks for the video.

Jared is clearly not a gun guy. If he's worried about fumbling the gun, shooting himself or someone else then it's in every ones best interest he sticks with spray.

Blahahah...actually he was just stating exactly what the reports said from a 20 year study on bear spray.

@@douggardner1 The 20 year bear spray study said people fumble firearms, shoot themselves or other people? They need to stay away from firearms also.

Nice video but you need to be careful telling people that bears pretty much attack only at close range. There is a video on youtube that interviews a guy named Todd Orr who was attacked by a bear in Montana. He came up over a ridge and saw a bear way off in the distance. The bear ran off and disappeared in the brush and circled around behind him and got him. He was attacked twice in 15 minutes. He had bear spray and used it but it didn't help. Bears are gorgeous creatures but are very unpredictable.

They are Phnomonial Beasts. Brilliant Photos, I'd shit my pants. To be fair, a running bear can care less about spray, very few bk off!! Most say stay quiet, or make noise?? Either way That bear has been proven only 12% look at u and walk away. To me u can't plan for this.

If it’s your opinion that bear spray is the most effective tool to stop a bear charge that’s fine but don’t spread false information about firearms. Anyone who can legally own a gun can openly carry a gun in national parks.
@douggardner1
@douggardner1 5 лет назад
Yes you are correct, you can carry firearms “now” in National Parks. What you didn’t realize before writing your comment was that this video was produced prior to February 22, 2010 when this firearm law was passed!

@@douggardner1 I live in Montana, do a lot outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking, and photography. Bearspray is hands down the best defense for a charging bear. Noise is the best defense to keep from getting charged.

Amazing photos! This video definitely gets me excited for bear season. I can't wait to go out and film them, especially since they should be waking up soon. I love the photography tips provided. There was a lot of great info. I'm definitely going to try photographing grizzlies with F6 aperture. Also, I recognize Mt. Moran in the background.

someoneneeds to tell Jared to shut-up and quit talking down to folks. Doug does okay. As for open carry in a N.F. part of the problem is the gov't going after your gun even though they know they're in the wrong.
