That is a handy guide! I'll be using this info as I continue taking pics on the farm... it's always tricky out in the direct sunlight. Question - My iPhone 11 Pro allows me to adjust 'exposure,' but now that I know exposure is just a combination of aperture, shutter, and ISO... what do you think my phone is doing? Adjusting all of these things on the fly, automatically?

Cell phones generally don't have aperture control since it's 1 or 2 or maybe 3 small lenses on smartphones. If you look in your "about" in your cell phones camera it will probably tell you it's shooting f 1.8 for example-always. The auto mode will definitely adjust ISO and Shutter speed for every shot and will try to get an even exposure throughout. This is why if a scene is too dark, you might getting a noisy image ( from it trying to bump up ISO) or a shaky image (trying to use a slow SS to get more light). In the worst cases a noisy and shaky image where both things happen. But cell phones like that pretty new iphone are getting much better at ISO performance. What you meter for (what you point it at and focus directly at with your phone) will determine if the phone will try to bring that shadow up. Or bring that highlight down. Causing everything else in the image to shift accordingly and relatively to that. I will definitely have to make a video on both dynamic range and what to meter for to get a certain look. Controlling exposure is my absolute favorite to a get a "film look"
