Thanks for taking the time to watch this video! If any of you have any questions regarding the Photo Pro or Xperia smartphones, just ask me here in the comments!😀
Not camera related but my other phone can't connect to this phones hotspot. Is this an international model issue? It also won't connect to my cars Bluetooth but my ear buds work...
Haha too kind 🤣 although for a 1h tutorial, I would have to really spend a lot of time to plan, shoot and edit. This video is 15 but took me forever xD worth it tho
This is nothing short of amazing. Thank you so much for making this. I purchased the Sony Xperia Pro I after watching you use it in your initial video and I continue to get better with it, and appreciate what can be achieved every time you make a video about Sony's smartphone cameras. You're awesome!
So amazing and arguably the best tutorial on the Xperia pro I that I have watched. As an iPhone user, I can definitely say Apple is sleeping in terms of tech features in the photo app. I feel like it’s becoming Nokia or Blackberry. Haha. Thank you and blessings!
I would like to add, that even sony is getting behind in terms of camera features. I have been using the Xperia 5 III for almost 3 months and the fact that a photo pro app doesn't have focus peaking. This is a big help for getting the focus right on small screens, and special for night fotography. A 2019 low end phone has almost all the features of the Photography Pro app.
@@kenl.3298 Xiaomi Redmi 8. Has all the manual controls that the Xperia 5 III has plus focus peaking and to trigger the burst mode you only have to hold the shutter button. Of course the photo quality doesn't even came close to the Xperia. But even the Mi A2 from 2018 that I could buy for less than 200 euros in my country had all those features and took really great photos with the stock camera.
@@xicofir3737 Chinese smartphones cannot be compared with flagship brands such Sony Sharp Samsung etc. Chinese phones (and not only phones) only looks like good things, but in closer look there's a huge difference in quality and technologies between them and A brand from Tokyo and S. Korea!
I'm not a pro photographer and in fact, I'm pretty noob but I love photography and photographs! I bought the Xperia 5 III and it should be coming tomorrow! I just found out about your channel and the photos you take are dazzling and I'm so excited for my first introduction to beautiful photography!
Thank you!!! Haha already excited for you✨ Please let me know if you have and questions about photography or the Xperia smartphones🙋🏻♂️ I try my best to reply to all comments👍🏼
Hey Kohki, thanks for the video! I love, that finally a nice, cool RU-vidr using a Xperia Smartphone to learn from (look up to). I'm using a Xperia 1 III by myself and I'm really impressed by the results you're posting. Motivates me trying to get same results. Thanks, keep going. Best regards from Berlin.
Thanks for taking the time to watch Felix! That’s great you have the 1III, the shot I took at the Westeria tunnels are one of my favorite photos and it’s shot on the 1III✨ If you have any problems or questions, please let me know and I will do my best to get back to you! And thank you all the way from Berlin! Gotta go there when it’s not mid summer haha
@@Kohki heyyy, ya thank you, i will. I always wanted to travel Japan as well, but right now it's not possible unfortunately. But let me know if you ever planning to visit Berlin, we can have a travelwithxperia Berlin shooting 💯✨
I found my style on the 1iii by having a daylight M mode and a Mmr lowlight mode setup. Shooting in burst helps a ton since I'm kinda indecisive but as the video said, you'll eventually find what you're looking for :D
Thank you so much for this video. My entire life I've been nothing more than an Auto/basic mode baby, even basic manual photography theory seemed more like advanced physics and I was stuck trying to buy more expensive dedicated cams to make up for my lack of skill and reliance on auto modes.Guides like yours have been great in helping me become brave enough to put more of the picture taking process into my own hands.
thanks to Your videos i've become much better in terms of photography and recording videos! since im more of a mobile user all those xperia reviews and photography days hype me up so much to actually switching to "1 III" in near future! Thank You for great content Kohki, cheers from poland
Thank you Nise! I’m glad to hear that✨ I think the Pro-I would be better if you only have a phone as your primary gear, specially if you also do video👍🏼
@@Kohki i don't think xperias sell well enough in poland since people are lazy just want fully automatized cameras like in apple or samsung. also they barely notice sonys existence when it comes to smartphones haha
@@niseskyyy hahah yeah, SONY is targeting more of the photo and video lovers and creatives like myself so I think it’s the holy grail for those who fit the target but not to everyone
Thank you Kohki for the very informative tutorial! I have the 5 IV and am very interested in learning to use the camera beyond basic mode. Look forward to your other insightful videos when you have the time to make and share them.
Can you do a day in portrait photography on the Xperia 1 iii ?? Bro your Xperia videos are awesome and talked about everything I loved about Sony’s phone …just ordered mine to replace my iPhone
Haha I do have a lot of videos planned that’s really big, I can’t wait to share but maybe I can do a portrait one soon with the Xperia. I’m glad my videos were entertaining! You will find yourself taking more photos intentionally on the Xperia👍🏼 hope you can capture some good photographs!
I'm like Groot. I just got the phone and you took off from things I can't even grasp, especially the nomenclature and the beginning screens/settings/and usages. But mainly, the assumption that I know the acronyms and nomenclature. THAT is where I'd like to begin.
What a great tutorial, calm and concise. Easy to follow. I have the 1 ii toying between upgrading to the 1 iii or going for the Pro - 1. On a different note is there away to change a landscape photo taken on the phone to a portrait image to display on Instagram so as to use the full real estate provided by Instagram. I know it has to be changed to 4:5/8:10 ratio. But I can find no way of doing it in the phone. Google photos doesn't give the option and neither does Snapseed I'm told. I sick of Instagram cutting my photos! Keep well and safe .
Thank you David! Appreciate it! I feel like the PRO-I is a no brainer if you have the budget. Haha yeah the IG crop is ridiculous, I hope it will be the full size in the future just like it went from 1x1 to 4x5
Learning a lot from this, also your talking speed is very good for following along with all of the settings on the screen in this app that has so many icons
Thank you so very much, dear, sir, for help with how to get the most of Sony Xperia mobiles! Wishing you all the very best! Greetings from Sweden! (Now one of your many subscribers!)
You said it well. I am looking for a camera that doubles as a smartphone and not a smartphone that doubles as a camera. I could see this as a fun companion to my RX100 Mk VII.
Thanks for this video. I used to shoot pro cameras for years, then I had a Leica Q2 for 2 years, I sold it recently because I want something just in my pocket, I have a Samsung S21 Ultra. It takes quite good images in lots of light, but surprisingly poor images of people in low light, not even very low light but typical indoor restaurant lighting. With my cameras I used to shoot everything in manual mode and sometimes aperture mode and I miss having full control. How does the Experia Pro i handle indoor light compared to a phone like the S21 Ultra or Iphone 13 in your opinion?
Thanks for watching! I really see a significant difference when shooting on the 24mm 1 inch sensor, I take photos indoors with tungsten light at a cafe and just shops in general and the quality is satisfactory. You see the difference even from IG story posts, under the IG compression.
First! LoL - Good video, I would recommend this phone as an entry level for photography that you CAN apply ANYTIME, since its in your pocket always... Unless you loose it or so... :P
Hi Kohki! I was feeling a bit apprehensive about buying a Sony Xperia phone because of all the talk about it being aimed at professional photographers but watching a video like this has helped eased my anxiety and now I'm giving the PRO-I some serious thought. I wanted to ask what case do you use for yours?
I’m glad you found my video useful! Yes I think if I was just starting out to test the waters with photography, I would definitely buy the Pro-I. I now use it for when I don’t feel like carrying a massive load of gear or when I quickly need to take quality photos. I actually don’t use a case for mine haha
waiting today for my xperia pro I, thx for help, only minus that xperia don't have voice command on shutter, this will be helpful for me, people with only left hand healthy.. btw you have my sub:)
Nice video dude, I feel I have lots more questions. I saw your 1 Mack iv video and decided to order the phone. So now I need lots of tutorials on how to use that camera. I'll check out what else you have in your channel in terms of photo/video tutorial.
It's a very good video. I'm grateful that I haven't seen anyone else mention that noise reduction works strongly in basic mode. By the way, do you know any ND filter that fits Xperia 1III?
Thank you! Haha yeah I actually heard it from someone that works at SONY Xperia so I thought it was a valuable info to share! For the ND and any filter, I use a moment adapter for smartphones (iPhone one since they don’t make the Xperia ones) and then a step up ring to fit my 82mm filters I use for my main alpha camera. (This way I can avoid carrying ND for both my camera and phone. So you’ll need 1. Moment ND adapter (64mm filter) 2. A 64mm ND of your choice If you don’t have a 64mm ND you will need the appropriate Step up ring(s). Hope this helps!🙋🏻♂️
question, if I have never had a SLR or a Sony phone, only a Samsung phone, and I would like to take good photos and videos, especially this 24fps effect, gosh, what a beautiful film effect it is. so is it difficult to achieve effects like in the video here? I mean, I mean editing photos, can I do it all with my phone or do I need to have some additional programs for oc. because I'm thinking about buying a 5v
Great video. I am debating between the 2 phones (Xperia 1 iii vs Pro-i). Would you still recommend either one of this phone in 2023? And which one would you recommend? Which has a better camera in the basic mode? Thank you
At 13mins you talk about using burst mode to get a clean shot in low light, but if I have the shutter speed at the settings you had,eg.4 it won't let me use burst mode?
I bricked my Xperia 1iii and got the Xperia pro-i. I feel the result differences are minor coming of photo pro after adjusting the settings based on situation. Also, I have to ask, phones like Samsung Galaxy they also have a manual mode, I think they call it pro mode. You can also control many settings. Iso, wb.... I feel the advantages are in the camera itself such as AF, real time tracking. Controls are kind of similar in these two.
Haha the pro-I quality mental🚀 Definitely worth it! I think yeah it’s more about the af, it locks so well😍 the 1 inch sensor is also a very Xperia only thing too, quality is so good on it!
Almost every phone nowadays have a Pro-mode, with all the controls of the Photography Pro apps and some even more and more accessibly for new users. But I know why sony decided to use this layout. It's a good way to use the 21:9 aspect ration and so peoplo who use sony cameras feel at home.
Hi, thanks for this video. I have two questions. One is how do you move the camera with low shutter speed and put the cab in focus? I tried it with object tracking turn on, lower shutter speed and the picture came out completely blur. Second question is, the noise reduction is only on the Auto mode in photo Pro? Other modes the noise reduction doesn't trigger? Thanks.
Hi drake thank you for waiting my video! You have to remember to not go too slow with the shutter but a appropriate speed for the subject. If you start panning and have the subject in frame long before you snap the photo at the right moment, you should get closer to the result you’re looking for. I can usually get it in 1-2 tries but I remember it took me a few attempts for a sharp one when I started. All mode triggers noise reduction but apparently it is better on auto or basic. Specially compared to raw files as they have no processing done whatsoever. It’s such a minor difference I’ve found so I don’t really pay much attention to it but it’s good to know if you want a quick clean image to use or share instantly👍🏼
Your videos are really what keep making me consider buying a xperia phone. Even if I don't buy one, I've subbed :). Honest question though. I've only known point and shoot photography with an iphone and for the past 3 years with a galaxy s10e (I prefer compact phones). For me the most important moments to take a photo are quick situations where my kid is doing something funny, meaning not much time for messing around with settings. Also portrait photography. Considering the fact that galaxy s10e also has a pro mode, how much of a difference can I expect when upgrading? Is it mostly the post processing (Lightroom or similar apps I've never used before?) that makes the difference? Thanks
Thanks for your video. I have a question: is it possible to use Xperia 1II and Photo Pro to shoot handwriting and signature macros, at 300 DPI, for forensic use? Because I have tried in various ways, but the result has never been satisfactory. Thanks again 🙏
Hi Kohki..great tutorial video there..I previously watch your Xperia Pro I video footage, and wondering on how you capture timelapse? Your reply will be much appreciated. Thank you and stay safe..
hi, i'm having trouble storing the photos i take with xperia 1 III; I don't know how to make it so that when I take a photo, it is stored on an sd card; could you help me; how to configure the xperia to save the photos on this card
Hey nice video and very good detailed how the photho pro app has to be use for geting the best shots. Could you tell me what is the best app for editing photos on the Xperia Pro-I which i now have i downloaded Snpseed from the google play store but the app can only edit jpg ont raw files so what do app do you recommend for editing raw files on Xperia Pro-I so that you can edit them on the phone without use the computer i know ligthrom but here you have to pay and adobe ligthrom you have log inn and useing the cloud storage which i dont like i have stored all my pictures on micro sd card.
I had an XZ3. I now have an Xperia 10 iii. I don't notice these features and functions on my device. I liked the XZ3 Camera. Used it quite a bit. The 10 iii camera has more detailed controls and settings but is not so simple and user friendly as the XZ3. What training do you have for the Sony 10 iii? Thanks
Becuz your photography pro app is available only on 1ii/5ii/1iii/5iii/PRO/Pro-I units only. Same for Videography Pro. Cinematography Pro is available on 1
I really think the pro-I is worth it! If you have the budget it’s a game changer in my opinion. If you see my snow day photography vlog, you’d see more examples from it👍🏼
Hi..I previously owned mark 3 and rx100 vii, and sold both for pro i. I could say, the images come from the 24mm 1 inch sensor was exceptionally amazing. And the rest focal length has the same quality as mark iii. And i could say that the picture quality can be compare to what rx100 vii has.
Can u pls make mobile photography that we can use in every mobile just not only eperia becouse 95% of who wathing this video dont have that pls make univarsal video 🙂
Hello Kohki, thanks for the informative tutorial. I tried out Xperia Pro-i recently, I have difficulty to capture only one shot with the shutter button if I turned on "Continous shooting", I would get at least minimum 2 or 3 shots, if I lightly pressed and released the shutter button, do you have similar experience? This behave slightly different from DSLR burst shots. which mormally only activates after a small pause when the shutter is pressed and hold before burst mode activates.
Oh that’s strange! So you can only shoot continuous for 2-3 consecutive images? Half press is to activate AF and so you will need to full press for you to fire the shots. It’s hard to see what the issue is from messages but I will see if there is something in the setting you’re doing that’s causing this.
@@Kohki Quite the opposite, 20 FPS burst mode is not a problem. What I meant is that, if I enabled burst mode under drive. It becomes almost too easy to activate burst shot when I just do a quick press and release of the shutter button. My intention is to shoot just a single shot but have burst mode on standby and ready to kick in when I press hold the shutter button. Whereas if it's DSLR, you can just have continous drive as the main mode shutter mode but can still easily take single shots with a click and release of the shutter button, it takes a slightly longer press hold of the shutter to activate burst shots.
@@nebousuke ohh okay yes when you have the burst mode on, even a slight one press can cause it to shoot 2-3 photos. But that’s because it’s 20fps, it’s very responsive and fast. The DSLR you have probably isn’t capable of shooting at 20fps so it might not be as fast as a 20fps shutter camera or phone in this case. I used the SONY A1 at 30fps and at Hi burst even a slight shutter tap gives me 2,5 images. On my a7r3 it’s 10fps so at burst I can still get single shots from a light shutter tap. Hope this helps!
@@Kohki ah that explains it, I came from old Canon DSLR, it doesn't normally trigger that fast, there is a small pause after pressing and holding before the burst goes on. I am not familiar with Sony cameras at all, but seemed like this is common. I guess, gotta toggle between continuous and single shot mode to control the shutter behavior. Anyway thanks for clarifying, the half press shutter is not that tactile i have to say, i feel like Xperia 1 iii half press is more tactile for some reason, of course I am just testing them about 30 minutes
I'll shorten it for you all.... I have the Xperia 1 iii, and no matter how good they compare a phone to a mirrorless camera, it'll never be as good as it. It's nowhere near even my A6000 camera, which is 10+ years old. Even the Xperia 1 VI that I've tested isn't much different than my current phone, it's glorified compact point and shoot camera.
