A fun video to stumble across while bemoaning British winter weather as soon as I get a new camera. Good to see creativity flowing in regards to making the best of it, people forget that the bleak weather is rather part of the British experience and there's some fun to be had in that.
Photography videos don't always have to be about stunning shots that mere mortals have no chance of taking. Short video that has given me an idea for a few local projects. Thanks.
Great exercise and nice images. I try to remember that what might seem mundane and commonplace to me could be fresh and interesting to someone across the country or world.
Great video, i'm inspired! I have two photographer friends coming in this weekend for three nights and four days on the north shore of Lake Superior (Minnesota, USA) and the forecast is for rain the entire time. I like the 20 min. challenge and will give it a go. Thanks.
I love Happisburgh. Go every August bank holiday weekend with all my family. Growing up around the coast and the lighthouse is amazing. And it's amazing seeing everybody's shots. Also, great coincidence, I also live in Peterborough! Enjoyed the vid. Keep it up.
This was a really nice video, I always wondered when the weather is horrid, what I can do to still take shots rather than sitting around waiting for a nice day to come around! I really enjoyed your trick, 20 minutes, take a picture. Will definitely incorporate that into my photography! Cheers!
I thoroughly enjoyed this! Such a perfect way to challenge your own photography and creativity or composition in pictures... I absolutely loved it...Thank you.
Love your photos! I am a bit jealous cuz right now (in the year 2020) I cannot take a trip like that! Great video, keep up the good work. Greetings from Bulgaria!
Really enjoyed this, i recognised every location you were in, even those woods near Sandringham/Wolferton, but wisbech? I live there and i cannot even tell where those blue door garages are, i didnt even recognise the the backdrop! But well done for capturing norfolk/cambs in bad weather, not an easy task, but i agree with your view on fenland, it is so flat and full of farmland, but there are a few places worthy of photographing, you just need to know what to look for!
Its now Sept 2nd 2019 - pouring with rain in North Wales - just watched this again with a coffee - now I'm off out on my own 20 minute exercise !!! :) GREAT idea, but I do wish you would help us amateurs out and just show your settings on your shots - it really would be of interest. Right, wheres my waterproofs...........
Enjoyed this video. Easy to translate to my local conditions. (Personally I will change car with walking.) Will share with my local photoclub, as we all need some extra inspiration at times.
Interesting exercise! You mentioned in you video "its on public land, i can shoot it" does that mean if it was on private land, you couldn't? Here in the USA, if i am on a public throughfare, I can take a picture of anything in my sight. Is it different there?
I always try to locate places in google maps .. but I have given up with UK names. To my nonnative ears, it always seems to be spelled Cylmuftgärfwy, but pronounced Cleysboro. No idea where this coast is thus :) PS: I see .. further in the video it was "Haysboro" .. written like something I'd call Happysburg :P
If you want to get creative, have you tried actually putting your camera up against a tree, pointing straight up? I did this just the other day and it made for quite an interesting shot. Just a suggestion. I'm no photographer, by the way.
Rodica Stefanescu he focused on the wall then put on manual focus. When he sat on the wall he was within the DOF so he would be in focus as well. a certain distance in fronting of the camera and behind the subject will all be in focus depending on the aperture settings.
You work for a photo magazine? Is the quality of the magazine as bad as this video too? Honestly mate, the photos in this video are seriously bad, i wouldnt even upload them publicly let alone use them in a video promoting your magazine, sorry but this is how i feel.
You write down your subjective opinion like it would be an objective standard. I read your comment like this: Those photos don't comply with your standard of good photography. You have another taste, that's great. I have to say clearly that those shorts are not bad. They are minimalistic. But alone the fact that they all have a really really distinct composition (rule of thirds/ leading lines/ symmetry) make them "not bad" :)
He set himself a challenge to take a photo every 20 mins, in poor conditions and in places he wasn't familiar with, I'd like to see your results from such a challenge. Go on, let's see
