Teo Crawford yes absolutely it’s great to see what this beast of a camera can do! Love the photos. My favourite was the power pole with the leading lines heading towards the pole. 9:01. Thanks for doing this video.
I know I'm a bit late to the party here but hugely enjoyed this video! The chill vibes, hearing your thoughts on your creative workflow, and of course beautiful pictures! What's not to love! I also agree with a lot of your creative judgements. The minimalistic plant photo was absolutely the most compelling image of the evening I would say, and some of the others were nice but as you said not quite capturing in that way we chase as photographers. Always greatly enjoy this style of video, thanks for sharing!
Ahhh pleeease don't be discouraged by that! Don't compare yourself to me. Of course over the years my self-criticism has increased a lot, because my level has become higher over time. Just keep doing your thing and try to find out what makes a photo good for you. Because what I find good in a photo is not necessarily the same to what you appreciate in a photo. :))
If you don't like the colours in a photo try editing it in black & white instead, I have found this works quite well with bland looking colour photos because in black & white you can really push the contrast as well as the shadows & blacks to make very dynamic images out of what would otherwise have been an average/boring image.
Yeees I totally understand - I'm happy with the composition, but something just isn't quite to my liking. I think I might've screwed up the editing, I'm not sure🤷♂️ Thank you Wolf! :))
I like those pylon photos with the clouds. The deer 🦌 photos were good too. Thanks for taking photos with the GX80, so many RU-vidrs who mention it just talk about video but the GX80 is a great all round camera.
My favorite was the first of the three you shot with the dirt road in it, the ones that you initially thought was going to be “it”. The first one of those was more blue and I really like it.
Another satisfying video. I think the plants are cool too and I definitely loved all the cloud shots. It's really good to see that you're still using the gx80 ... Nice one Teo!
Looks like you need a polarizer. The images are ok, but you're getting a hazy and low contrast feel. IDK if it would help, but for $12 it's worth a shot.
What a beautiful place, i want to live right there haha. Beautiful shots btw, im thinking on getting that camera for my travels which i hope happen very soon. Greetings from Perú ;)
When you set off I was thinking wouldn't it be lovely to live in the middle of such beautiful countryside instead of in the city. Then you met the mosquitos.... Anyway, my favourite shots are on the way back, with the power lines leading to the pylons against the colourful sky
I noticed that the shots have this Soft vibe to it Did you use a filter for this ?? Or edited it like this to be soft ?? Or is it the micro forth sensor type ??
@@teocrawford you're not late at all. I decided to wait a little longer and ask for advices. You know the drill, choosing your first camera(in fact, anything you buy...) is so unsettling.
@@teocrawford My first camera was a Sony Nex 6 then I got a Sony a6000. With the GX85 you get a good evf, which for me helps with being more engaged in taking a photo vs just looking at the screen. And you also get image stabilization with the GX85 if you're into video or using old manual lenses it helps a lot. I'm actually thinking of picking up a GX85 good luck on your first camera choice bro I think the GX85 will be a good starter with room to grow.
@@sdhute unfortunately I had to take care of my mother. She needs money for her meds, so I decided to wait (a little more) to make the purchase, considering Im taking care of my girlfriend and all the expenses in our apartment.
Wow I loved this video! Thanks a lot for the inspo as well! Can you tell me a bit more about your settings? I got my gx80 about 2 weeks ago but find it hard to get the right settings. I see you have different setting for both dials? Can you help me out a bit? Thanks!!
Thank youuu!😍 I'm not sure I'm understanding correctly🤔 the settings are hard to explain and very dependent on the photo and the light. Generally I try to keep my f-stop low, except I'm trying to get more things in focus🤷🏻♂️
Teo Crawford thankyou for your response ! Sorry if My question was a bit weird (im dutch 🙈) I mean in what mode do you shoot? Like just manual or? If i play with the dials (?) (the round things on the camera haha) i do see settings changing but don’t really understand what I’m changing.. i dont really know what is best to shoot in and which mode..
Ohhh ok ok, no problem! :D I always shoot in manual mode to have full control of the camera. Except for the White Balance - I'm too lazy to set that manually all the time, so I keep it to Automatic and just change it in the editing process. Concerning the settings - that highly depends on the light in your situation and what you are shooting. There are many tutorials here on YT, which explain how to expose an image manually by balancing the settings. Just watch a few of those and you'll understand it soon :))
dude i gonna buy the gx80 because of you, thanks to your videos and photo samples, i should buy it with the 12-60mm kit lens? or 12-32mm? Regards from spain
Wow, cool to hear I could inspire you!🙌🏼🙌🏼 I haven't shot with either, so I don't know... but generally speaking I would stay away from kit lenses😅 But that of course immensely depends on what you shoot. So for example, if you plan to shoot mainly portraits, I would much rather go for the 25mm f/1.7🤷🏻♂️
Hi Teo! Thank you so much for your videos. You’re actually one of the reasons why I bought a gx80. I decided to buy this camera coz I wanna take my photography more seriously. I just wanna know, have you used it for commercial/paid photography work. If so, how was it?
I was just wondering what extras you used on your camera? I’m thinking of getting a gx85, but was wondering what I needed to get to really enhance my photos. Loved this format of video and getting to come along for the ride. Very dope 😎
Extras?👀 I just use the camera + lens to intitially shoot the photo. But I shoot in Raw, so that afterwards I can easily edit the photo in Lightroom - that's it😊🙌🏼🙌🏼 Thanks mate!🙇🏻♂️🙌🏼
Weird question idk if can be answered but I have a cannon m50 but don’t want to get a gx85 but love how it shoot is there a way to do the same like setting on the m50 like the gx85 thx u!
100% - the camera really doesn't matter when it comes to the look of your image! That's all done in the editing process, I do it in Lightroom. You could probably apply the same Lightroom settings to the same photo taken with the M50 and it would look very similar. I hope this helps! :)
Whenever I am attempting to capture footage and there is some background light. I get an annoying greenish, reflective flare at the bottom of my frame and as I move the camera it moves with the camera. It is difficult to explain without being able to send a photo/video. Is this normal or is there possibly something wrong with my gx85? Is this an issue you have? It does it with all of my lenses so I don't think it is the lenses. I am new to photography and don't have much experience. I am a subscriber and I watch all of your vids. I hope to one day get to the point where my footage looks as good as yours. Thanks
@@teocrawford It's weird. If I take a vid/photo of a glass block window with significant light passing thru it will show a small reflective greenish (mirrored) replica of a portion of the window.
Nice video, if i can give you a suggestion, the shots at 4:34, i have tryed to shoot them lowering the camera like a sitting position or even lower, let me know
Thank you! Ohh yes that can look quite interesting in many situations, however I find it sometimes puts too much emphasis on the foreground itself, which is not the subject I was attempting to photograph here, thanks for the suggestion! :)
Ohoh... you don't wan't to know.. it's suuuper amateur hahah😂😂 But I'm glad to read the setup doesn't seem to reflect in the sound quality :D So I don't have a dedicated audio recorder. Therefore I use my camera. I've got the small "Rode VideoMicro" for my camera and simply record video when making a voice over. Then in Premiere I just use the audio of the file and do some decent post-processing on the audio to get the best possible result from that crappy setup :D
Thanks mate! :)) I uploaded two Raws here on Google Drive, you can check them out :) drive.google.com/drive/folders/1J65yoMFy8uwectAHwL-Kq7u3zIAWJ-Cs?usp=sharing
Hello, Teo Crawford I'm a fan watching from Ghana. I love your content and I've been shooting videos and photos with the little GX80 for some time. I'd like to throw you a video challenge with the GX80. There's a lot of boredom around for months now and what better way to kill boredom than have a video challenge? If it's something you'll agree to, let know so we talk it through. I guess the BTS and the documentation of the entire process would make a great content for this channel.
Yooo I've got people watching from Ghana!? That's amazing, thanks! :) Honestly I'm feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment, because beside the RU-vid videos I'm currently working on my next short film, which is going to be the biggest project I've ever tackled - so I don't know if I really feel like doing a video challenge at the moment. But feel free to tell me what you are thinking of, maybe I'll change my mind🤷♂️ Thanks for the support mate! :))
@@teocrawford definitely, man. I can understand what you might be dealing with. I wish you well on your short film project. Also, if you'll be interested in my friendship, that'll mean a lot to me. A reason why I've created some really awesome videos on the GX80 was because I watched your positivity about this camera on RU-vid when a lot other channels were so negative about it.
Do you think this camera is good for vlogging too? I’m considering getting this but need a confirmation it’s worth the investment as it’s for my loved one?
It's a little difficult with this camera, because it doesn't have a mic input. So you can only record audio with the in-camera mic, which doesn't really sound great :/
Hey teo, I was wondering what Camera is not expensive but the pictures are really good.. I’m a newbie in that and googelt it what’s the best but then I saw your video with the pictures. I like them but I just wanna hear what you think because for me you right now the pro 😅
It really doesn't matter that much actually... the photos in this video could have just as well been shot with a Sony a6000 or a Canon M50, it wouldn't make much of a difference. However I've never actually shot with those cameras so I can only truly recommend the Lumix GX80 from my own experience :)
Your videos are just so great to watch. I don't know what is so different to others, maybe it's kinda relaxing to watch u, the way u doing it, I really don't know. Just don't change anything, you got your own style and it's amazing. 👍🏼 (I do start to be a Fanboy 🙄😂)
The GX80 and GX85 are the same camera - I know it's complicated😅 The camera actually has three different names depending on the area. I believe in the USA it's sold as the GX85, otherwise it's known as the GX80, except in Japan where it has yet again a different name, which I can't remember. I don't know why they make it so complicated😅😅
Great video and photos 👌🏻Is this your only camera? I've got the same, it's a fantastic kit. I was thinking of going full frame but I'm not sure. Do you sell your photos?
Thank you! No, it's the camera I started out with - since then I've switched to a different camera, which is my main, but I still regularly enioy shooting with the GX80🙌🏼 Oh sweet, but no I don't (yet)👀
ohh dude, very hard question. I don't think it exists yet. But imagine a camera with the video specs of the Sony A7Siii (especially the higher bit-depth), the 24MP sensor and the Auto Focus of the Sony A7iii inside the body of the Panasonic S1, which enables the level of stabilisation of the S1 + decent weather sealing - there you have it. That would be it hahah :,D
@@johnny_bravo9990 I don't know anything about Leica cameras, but as far as I've heard I think they are more focused on Photography and not particularly recommended for hybrid use🤔
Nooo I don't really know anything about it😬 But don't get too hung up on the gear. As long as it's a camera and it shoots raw it'll be a great tool to learn!🙌🏼🙌🏼
If you shot low on the picture of the road/trail that might make the subject more emphatic/pronounced. First picture was good but it had no main subject. Please don’t be upset about this critique. Is only my opinion. I enjoyed your video.
@@teocrawford also falls du das Mal hören willst: hab bis vor kurzem nicht gecheckt, dass du aus Österreich kommst bzw du nicht english als Muttersprache sprichst
Do you think this camera is good for vlogging too? I’m considering getting this but need a confirmation it’s worth the investment as it’s for my loved one?
It's a little difficult with this camera, because it doesn't have an audio input for a mic - so the only audio option is the on-camera mic, which isn't really good :/
