How to fix Adobe Photoshop crashing or freezing all the time is explained in detail in this video. Photoshop crashing is a popular problem especially on windows pc and in this video I will provide you with an easy fix. It often times happens when performing editing functions such as image selection using lasso tool or select and mask. This has been an issue with a few of the photoshop versions, but especially the new Adobe Photoshop Beta Firefly AI edition.
Possible Solutions
1. Run Photoshop as Administrator
2. Hold down shift when opening up the program and then select ‘Skip loading optional and third party plugins’
3. Update Graphics Drivers
4. Storage Issues
5. Change your graphics settings

my photoshop crash when I open another file. it doesn't make an error message it just freezes and closed.

I tried all your tips however it didn't work, however found another way and it worked! Adjust graphics processor settings If you can launch Photoshop: Choose Edit > Preferences > Performance, and deselect the Use Graphic Processor option. Good luck! 😊

Not concerned with PS 2022, but with 2023 24.5 where the main issue is crashing after the remove tool is used several times, then next when a tool icon is picked with a mouse click, and will likely crash. Instead, use a keyboard shortcut, like B for brush rather than picking the brush icon. Then, PS becomes stable using icon commands. However, if the remove command is used again, repeat using the keyboard shortcut first. PS still has a few issues to solve. The remedies you gave generally will not solve this particular crash issue, but are helpful on some occasions.

Thank you for the in-depth comment.... I gave all potential fixes that I have known of over the years and for me Photoshop Beta was crashing and I was able to resolve it each time with my solutions successfully.

@@PromoAmbitions But over the years, technology changes and the PS 2023 v24.5 adds to the overall complexities, and previous well-known fixes often do not always apply. Just know that Beta products being tested will have surprises to be resolved, even if solutions are just temp workarounds until software is updated for final release.

Mine was crashing when aligning images for HDR merge. The second suggesion (SHIFT+click on program's icon and not loading third-party plugins) sorted it out. Thanks!

Ok, did everything and more. Resetting preferences, graphics change, etc. If I try to save anything, it'll hang for a few seconds and crash. This development is new as I did not have this problem until 2 days ago. I'm out of ideas. Downgrading to CS6 is not an option as that causes my laptop to boot endlessly unless I restore windows.

@PromoAmbitions It was a broken plugin / addon in the common folder that caused the problem btw, maybe this helps someone, but the shift trick got me on to the right track to eventually fixing the problem.

For me its that photoshop isnt exactly crashing but quitting like the user clicking the x button, if there are no changes made on the file then it closes, other wise the pop up shows for saving changes before quitting.

My ps crashed when it was trying to recover earlier photos, tried first three ways to bypass the problem, then installed the whole ps again and problem solved. Who knows, maybe the graphic trick could have done it, but now we never know. Excellent video, good tricks!

well, mine crashing when i close the photoshop. my pc froze up a bit, can't do anything, an then explorer will crash. that everytime when i close photoshop

What type of operating system are you using? Also, support for Internet Explorer no longer exists. I would use a regularly updated web browser these days. It's good for security reasons too.

win 11. i use Edge, Firefox and Chrome, for diffrent reasons. i started to notice the problem occured when they first update the app to ver 25.4

If these do not work, try this: search %appdata% in your windows start tab, go into the adobe folder and delete every folder that can be deleted (some wont work because theyre in use, just skip those) then try again.

Please work, please work, please work... I am at a point where my files are named "Placeholder-Recovered-Recovered-Recovered-Recovered.psd", these crashes are turning me insane
