About Aaron Blaise:

Aaron Blaise is an animation feature film director and wildlife artist.
For 21 years Aaron worked with Disney helping to create some of the greatest animated films ever made. During that time he worked as an animator or supervising animator on "The Rescuers Down Under", "Beauty and the Beast", "Aladdin", "The Lion King", "Pocahontas", "Mulan" and more.
In 2003 he was co-director of "Brother Bear" for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film.
After "Brother Bear" he helped to develop several projects but ultimately left Disney to pursue an opportunity back home in Florida. Aaron recently served as 2D Animation Supervisor and Character Designer for the "The Bear and the Hare" an advertisement loved by millions around the world. ( • Video )

This has to be one of the best Photoshop paintbrush tutorials (or just Photoshop tutorials period) I've ever watched. I'm not even 10 minutes into this and I subscribed to his channel and added this video to my favorites list. I plan to see what other videos he has. He uses techniques and shortcuts that otherwise would have taken me forever to do.

Mindblown!!!!! BOOOM! Ive only ever used the standard basics... saved and liked... im trying to do a conceptual beatboard with a landscape going off into the distance and i needed a textury rough random brush.... I need that bush brush or whatever it is... Mixer brush was something that blew my mind...

I have a question:I use photoshop cc 2015 but i use alt to sample .... not sample ..... not alt + click ne alt altogether

I have been doing digital art work commercially for about 35 years. (going back to Scitex days). I had retired, and sort of let my photoshop skills atrophy. Going back in retirement to painting old school (egg tempera mainly).. I had someone beg me to do a commercial project, re-uped my Adobe subscription. Low and behold. None of my old brush sets even WORKED in the newer versions of Adobe CC. This one set saved me hundreds of hours rebuilding brushes, and presets. allowed me to get right to work and saved the day.. Also some of the new brush tools in PS are pretty cool, and you've done a great job of explaining and demonstrating them in a way that people can easily pick up and run with. THANK!

Little quick tip for the mixer brush: You can also use pixel images as color information. Find a .png of a tree (make sure the resolution is high so it doesn't negatively affect your work) and sample the leaves and you can instantly have an entire palette at your fingertips. You can also sample the work you have already done using the mixer brush leading to even more amounts of variation.

Thanks Aaron! This has piqued my curiosity about custom brushes. The end tree result has a strong sense of movement and being tousled by the wind, and it seems like it comes a lot down to rhythms in the mixer brush created by the leaf custom brush.

This will be super helpful for concept paintings, plus you can also save your new brushes as tool presets so you don't have to recreate a reference image each time. Adobe should be shouting about features like this!

Marvelous. If I am get it correctly, the result is like an intersect of mixer brush and normal brush, gives wanted colors and texture to a normal brush .

Great tutorial bro! Another tip you can try is, after you option click your ball and select a shape, go to the styles tab and select a crazy effect. The ball now becomes that style.

Great tutorial. I always wonder about the new tools they add in. This was very clear and very cool. You gotta take advantage of smart objects. Convert your layers and then you can scale down and back up without destroying all your pixel data.
