We knew the family in St. Louis and it was clear she was going big places. She so was so very bright, so imaginative, so courageous and she believed in herself. Seeing her perform was always a jolt because in everyday life she was a very attractive lady
RIP, to a beloved legend. One of the greatest compliments I ever received was bring told I had a Phyllis Diller laugh...but for now my eyes are welling up.
I broadcast baseball on the internet. I have a very dry British style straight faced humor. Some of my listeners said they wished Phyllis could have worked a game with me because her style would compliment my dryness. What a dream come true for me that would have been...my jokes followed by her laugh...Her death was a great loss to many of us...she was a rare breed of being funny without being Vulgar and without bashing other people. RIP Phyllis, you are sadly missed.
