People assume and speculate, but this woman was beyond this world, beyond her time....so beautiful, so elegant, fashion-forward, classy, and intelligent. Love that she loved her black people the way she did. Miss you girl💕
...wow, was just sitting here thinking of her and wanted to watch her on some videos - yes gone wayyyy too soon. And what people dont know - before there was ever a Toni Braxton with that voice - it was Phyllis Hyman!
Darius Willams it makes me sad she couldn't see what we seen. she was beautiful and a fearless singer. I believe today she would of been still killing it and more appreciated.
Woman to woman, I simply love Phyllis Hyman. Her personality, her style, she is truly beautiful, cute, intelligent, inspiring, classy, great taste for dressing. 3 times a lady. Still loved.
I wish I knew she was suffering from depression when she was alive, I would have prayed for her continously. Also, I would have wrote her letters and sent her encouraging scriptures and encouraged her to seek help. It is hard to believe that her personal life was not good, because she was so beautiful, talented and classy RIP QUEEN.
Bird872 Mitc She had the most haunting eyes. About midway through this interview she says " I don't have any personal romantic relationship in my life. " I felt her pain as she bared her soul.
So beautiful, smart, confident, articulate, classy and down to earth! God rest her soul, thank you Phyllis for all the amazing music you left for us to enjoy.
she was always talking bout painfull stuff in her life, meaning she was really hurting inside, its so sad no one came to her rescue, beautifull so so so talented ..................gone to soon depression is real
+Dee Oye Yes, she was the best. We don't talk about this nowadays, but we need to: It has only been in the last two decades that we don't see our Black entertainers publicly speaking out for our people. What has happened is that they are being threatened, harassed, and killed for doing that, so now they, like most of us, are living in fear. I really think that devilish people had "targeted" Phyllis, like Michael Jackson, and were attacking her through her love life! Otherwise, it doesn't make sense that she went YEARS without a DATE. Who ELSE have we ever heard this happening to? She is just too pretty and Awesome of a lady to have "NO ONE" care for her. It's true that her personality worked against her at times, but I think the devils are using that to "hide" behind so we will THINK that she "did herself in" over the years.
+Darnell Jones . I think of Prince who fought to retain control and ownership of his music and at one time his name. Phyllis Hyman was one of the most vocal artist who spoken openly and candidly about the evils and pitfalls of the entertainment industry. I think Phyllis would have been so supportive and proud of Prince. I find it so hard to believe that Phyllis record company executives would still, twenty years later, will not release the music in the vaults or do a tv movie about her life/career. twenty years passed and Darrell you are still watching her tapes and posting comments. Hell I paid $123 for her biography and would do so again without afore thought. How can people not see that she is still very relevant !! I thought record companies liked to make money ... so why won't they release the music and do the movie??
Them eyes tell alot of dark stories...It's crazy people tell you to stay strong in life when being strong is all you been doing.Sometimes you get fed up..I feel Phyllis got fed up.She did all she could
@ G Wise Well Said Brotha!!! Phyllis Hyman was definitely a phenomenal woman & one of a kind. Her voice was impeccable… Wish she would’ve been able to overcome her demons. I suffer from Clinical Depression/Anxiety so I totally understand how Phyllis felt.
Phyllis struck me as covering depression in this interview. She is functioning through it but I've performed in this same way as a cover. Smiling but deeply hurting inside and no one understands the pain but you. Phyllis is free now...
@footloverguy Upliftment Too Our Ancestors She Is A EL (Goddess) Among Us. Her Embodiment Of Life Replenish This Earth Her SOUL And SPIRIT Is HEAVENLY HIGH. HEART (MFTH)
Nyesha Brooks she did do sum modeling in her day tho...I'm glad she started off optimistic and became more optimistic in the early 90's. Check out her interview with Freda Payne.
I met her in the elevator when i worked at the now defunct Paramount Pictures- she gave me her autograph...she was at least 6 feet tall in all her splendor and just very confident beautiful woman...
She has been my favorite singer for DECADES. What a tragic, painful loss. I can't even finish this video. . .Prime of my Life was my favorite album by the incomparable Ms. Hyman. How ironic the title was. RIP Beautiful Angel.
@@denicebrooks7056 Phyllis did all she could. She tried. You know sometimes us humans think we stronger then we really are...All this women needed was real love..Them men didn't care about her and she knew that.
@@gwise8095 U d0nt kn0w here st0ry dude, she dr0ve the husband wh0 really I0ved her away~ he is reported as saying years Iater that he still I0ved her~she did not accept I0ve cuz she did not reaIIy I0ve herseIf~as an addict myself, I'm aware 0f h0w deep that sI0pe is~
Maria 411 I lived in New York City at the time Phyllis was just starting and I can only tell you the places I saw her and and the music she sang was authentic every word
Wow just found out about her just today, infact about 30 minutes ago😅 pretty sad I'm a little late. Love her already,so beautiful, articulate, expressive and down to earth, she seemed like a genuinely good person RIP queen❤❤
A person with a beautiful heart & soul, was fighting to stay herself in a world of demons & devils. Evil got to her. She will ALWAYS BE MISSED!! NEVER 4GOTTEN.
I am so glad that she maintained her dignity by not selling out! People are saying she should have compromised 😞😐! I don't think so because you see what the music industry is today. Everyone has sold out 😕! Music snd singers of today is so toxic 👿👺👹🥵🔥💩💩! Most of these sell outs of today are miserable 😣😖, people who have to always look behind their backs! Is it worth it!
The interviewer in this clip sounds like Nancy O'dell from Entertainment Tonight. Phyllis Hyman sounds like Oprah Winfrey when she talks, but sounds like Toni Braxton when she sings.
Her eyes got so sad when she said she does not have a romantic life my heart aches for her pain she was stunning and superbly talented I wish we knew our worth. 5:57
Damn if she only knew how breathtaking and polished she was. How subtle and humble she seemed. How being a women is supposed to be is suppose to carry yourself as a women. I see alot of me inside of her cause I still don't have a ig fb never have never needed to seem nudes never felt the need to fit in but deep inside wonder if is that the reason I'm not "winning" but that's not the win she wanted different she wanted peace and grind man so more to say😑
Bi polar Is so serious the emotional ups and downs alone will drive a person crazy ! I wonder did she ever seek professional help? If so did she follow the treatment?
Candice Yes, sh sought help a few times but kept falling off the wagon. She sought help to manage her bipolar illness but stopped taking the meds because she didn’t like the way they made her feel. She also sought help for substance abuse but relapsed.
+K Ford yeah phyllis was the queen of anything you wanted to hear anything you wanted to hear she could sing it!!!she should have been a model with her beauty
K Ford Don't get me wrong I love it. Just surprised the studio released this raw version , not edited. Thanks for giving her Fans this. She's so real and beautiful
My dear God, what a beautiful, intelligent, seductive, pedestal worthy queen. Like my father used to say, she's the kind of woman makes you WANT to drink her dirty bath water like it was fine champagne.
