When you mention licensing - it's not as simple as "letting the license go". Rarely does a studio gain a forever license. More often than not, it's either time-bound or manufacturing unit-based (i.e., you may make and sell 5000 units, max). From Beyond 4K is an amazing release and it's is indeed nice to see another studio was able to pick it up and carry the torch. Totally worth it!

Everyone's excited about the Opera announcement until they see how much it will cost next month. On top of that Severin has the most over priced shipping charges. I'll happily stick with my Scorpion 3-disc deluxe limited edition.

From Beyond is my favorite of the Lovecraft films. I'm happy with my SF release. I tend to wait on the Kino line because they become cheaper the longer there out. All though I did spend quite a bit on The Church, Sect, and Cemetery Man, but if I would have waited it would have been cheaper. Right now my big awaited release is Trick or Treat from Synapse. Definitely picking up Squirm as well.

I just watched Squirm today steamed it was a fun watch. I wanted to watch it before I preordered Fun fact - Squirm is one of Quentin Tarantino's favourite films of the 1970s.

Knowing Severin, we'll probably have to get a loan to buy that Five disc Opera movies box set... Severin is the king of overpriced 4k transfers, but the quality is great and they're kicking ass this year, so far..... Oh yeah, 88 films should do a custom Devin Whitehead cover art release for From Beyond like they did for Amittyville, because the artwork looks like Vinegar Syndromes..... What do you think Christian????

When I saw the post yesterday for Opera I figured it would be about $80, so $75 isn't that far off. Severin really has been pricing themselves out though. Some of the past 4K releases are currently about $31 on Amazon. Cemetery Man, Nightmare, and Spider Labyrinth is just under $30.

I've not seen Opera so I'm excited about this., 4k Repo man, frogs and Squirm. I was going to pick up a European version of Squrim it now pick up this instead.

It'll be somewhere around $55 - $65. If you wait a year it'll be like $35 in their sale. Edit: didn’t realize its 5 discs. It'll be like $70 then. $40 in a sale 😅

Definitely getting Squirm and Opera. Patience pays off. I did not get the initial SF release of Squirm because I was fine with just watching the movie as an MST3K episode I have on DVD. When SF Squirm went OOP I wondered if that was a mistake but now Kino is putting it out I am definitely getting it. Kino does great work. Also have been fine with having Opera on DVD for years. Almost bit at the Ronin Flix edition when that went for preorder but ultimately did not get. This Severin box looks sick so I'll be getting it.

I'm willing to bet that Spider 2002 will get a Criterion 4K in the states. They have a good partnership with David Cronenberg that I can definitely see the same transfer coming from them.

YES Repo Man Criterion, glad I have that, Eureka blu ray and I can't remember right off who put it out but the DVD. The movie never lets up. Glad I got the S.F. From Beyond.. Hoping to land this Opera.

I been waiting for a new release of opera because I missed out on the ronin flix release. I almost got it because Robin flix had a small restock of like 200 or 300 copies about a year ago. It wasn't even available for a full minute into it went out of stock😑. I just hope severin ain't lying this time about opera being in a big box like how they advertise four flies on grey velvet being in a big box only for it to be on a normal slipcover instead. While were at it i hope four flies on grey velvet gets another re-release because I wasn't aware of it getting released under severin into it was too late. That's my fault for not following their accounts though.

Just email them and ask if they'll outright sell you a copy of Four Flies. That's what I did, and they sold me a copy.

Squirm is a pretty bad movie, kino is usually pretty cheap but I would advise watching it before you pick it up. 🤘🏼🧔🏻‍♂️

I slept on the Vinegar Syndrome From beyond. Was too expensive. I am not sure why everyone is going ape shit over Opera. yes it is great and I love and will be getting it, but it almost like people think it has been OOP for ages. Scorpion put out a great version like a year ago.
