@@ryu.l2264 It is the intermolecular forces between the carbon chains due to london-dispersion forces (temporary dipoles in non-polar bonds)

Hey! In my book its written phenol has stronger hydrogen bonding compared to alcohol,can you explain it how? Wouldnot be it all stacked up and occupy do much space and disturbs the bonding ? is due to

Since phenol allows the oxygen to resonate its electrons into the benzene ring, the negativity is pulled down and away from the hydrogen more than just on a regular alcohol. If the H is left more exposed and more partially positive, it will have stronger H-bonding as a result
