Electrical devices consume energy. But how is that energy calculated? How can we calculate the power delivered by a battery? This video will teach just how to do that... Another video on the cost of using electricity will be follow for IEB candidates.

You said we can't use the equation "W=VIT" but we can by finding the potential difference across the resistor by using the formula "V=IR", which I am sure we all already know I guess😉. I just wanted to highlight that part for some students yet to watch the video and read the comments. Thank you for the lesson👍😉💞

Hello sir, I had a problem with #3 .. so I just calculated using p=v²/R ( for R I added both internal and external resistance) and got the same answer ( well yours is 7.8,mine is 7.783) could this just be a coincidence..? I hope you see this question and respond.. thanks in advance

The power dissipated by the internal resistance is not delivered to the main circuit. It is simply lost...

Not always... It depends which power you are trying to determine

Sir . This video is not relevant to me bc it has internal resistance and our teacher said at grade 11 she does not introduce internal resistance the department introduces it in grade 12 😭😭😭

Sir I'm confused by when we have to calculate the power dissipated by the battery what if we calculate the voltage of the battery and then use tht voltage in the formula to get to the answer?

A battery does not dissipate power but it supplies power. If you want power dissipated inside the battery, you have to use the internal resistor

Hello sir please can you help me....when calculating the total current why didnt you add the 12 and 6 resistor since they are in series to get 18 ohms which will eventually be parallel to the other 18 resistor

Good day sir I don't understand why we used the emf as the voltage to calculate the total power on number 3 because in the previous videos you said the voltage reads the emf only when the switch is open . I'm confused there can you please help 🙏

If you use external voltage, it would exclude power dissipated in the internal resistance

Um sir you made a mistake on formulas of power by including time. Remember that power is the rate at which work is done therefore it is the work done divided by time and so the time there cancels out the time from the formulas of energy.
