This is great! I just built one with an expensive hat on a Pi Zero 2 and was considering building a second one. For the price of a Pi Zero W and the components you listed I should be able to build it for about $25 total! Much better than all the other C64 storage options I think.

Yes, it really is great :) I use both the sd2iec and my home built pi1541and I like em both but maybe the pi1541 more as I also like to build stuff.. :)

Great, informative video. Just a tip, you should also copy over the dos1581 ROM from VICE. This allows you to use D81 disk images as the Pi will then emulate a 1581 3.5" drive when using this disk image type. And yes, the LED for the easy build will be fixed in the next version.
