In America, we call that a recorder. A flute is made of silver, nickel, or brass that is silver-plated. The flute is also much longer with many keys unlike the recorder which has holes that you cover with your fingers. It is played by holding the instrument horizontally to your mouth and you blow air into a small hole on the side as opposed to the recorder which has a mouth piece on the top of it. I used to play both instruments when I was younger along with the clarinet, trumpet, and I could play a tiny bit of the saxophone.
