Gabriele Bagnati plays Chopin's Scherzo No. 2 and Professor Antti Siirala talks about one of the difficulties of the piece, which is maintaining interest and attention even when repeating the same material over and over again. He also says that the tension of the piece lies between the keys B-flat minor and D-flat major and in the friendliness of characters that the composer presents. Next, Professor Siirala talks about how the type of playing gesture can help achieve a more interesting result on a character level even though musically it sounds similar. For example, when using a pedal to play something legato, the physical gesture can also help. Or in a final chord, not lifting your fingers off the keys and trusting the sound to the pedal, but accompanying the note all the way to the end to control its entire path. Later, Professor points out a passage in which the pedal does not let you hear clearly a middle voice counterpoint and emphasizes its importance, you should be able to hear it without any problem. In the last part of the lesson they go over the rest of the piece to improve some details.
