This video is a DEEP dive into understanding wrist circles at the piano!
Wrist circles are used in piano technique to group notes together and play with efficient, relaxed arm and wrist motions.
In this video I use examples from the classical piano repertoire to demonstrate wrist circles. I show wrist circles in slow motion as well as up to tempo. I address commonly-asked questions about wrist circles, including:
👉 How do wrist circles relate to the shape of a musical gesture?
👉 How can wrist circles help me play more musically?
👉 What is the relationship between the elbow, wrist and fingers when doing wrist circles?
👉 How can I apply wrist circles to fast playing, and should I use wrist circles in slow playing?
👉 How should I approach playing wrist circles in both hands when playing hands together?
