Btw, instead of repeating the "We shall drive a bullet..." verse, you might sing this one (for some reasons, there are no recordings of this verse, but the verse itself exists): Kak dva vrazhdébnykh pólyusa, Vo vsyom vrazhdébny my: Za svet i mir my bóremsya, Oní - za tsárstvo t'my! Like the two hostile poles, We are hostiles in everything: For lightness and peace - we fight, For the kingdom of darkness - they do!
I really liked that verse when I found it but, as you say, no one recorded it, I had no pronunciations to copy, and it was one fewer verse I had opportunity to screw up lol
@@MonsieurJack95 I really liked your performance, it's even better than some TV performances on the eve of the holidays, (I understood every word well without subtitles) my deepest regards to you, and I would like to know if it is possible to find you or your work on social networks?
@@user-dl1og3le2y I’d offer a slight poetic adjustment to the English, just if you want to preserve the rhyme: “Like the duelling poles are we, Opposed in every way; For light and peace fight we, For darkness’ empire, they” The verse is just much better in Russian though. For instance, свет can mean light, but it can also mean like “the world”. враждебных means many things - hostile or antagonistic in the sense of ‘hostile forces’, but also like evil or malign, of ‘The Enemy’ with a capital T, which is one of the ways Satan is described in the Bible. That’s actually why I went with “darkness’ empire” - it’s a common motif in English language prayers. It’s a powerful stanza that really brings out the ‘holy’ part of the Sacred War.
Glory to the valiant Red Army, who saved the world from fascism! And, the the twenty-two million brave men and women who sacrificed their lives in the Great Patriotic War, may you rest in peace.
They may have marched to Berlin, but they didn't go far enough. Berlin, Rome, Vichy, Madrid, Lisbon, even Washington DC, all infected by Fascism and Corporatism. The Red Army should have marched on
The myth America singlehandedly won the Second World War really needs to die, for we must remember how 27 million Russians sacrificed their lives so the rest of humanity could have liberty.
It's actually easier to learn a song than to learn to speak the language... Source: Every person in Europe who's older gen and can't really speak English + sings along to songs in the radio... / I was in the French Foreign Legion, and a big part of learning the language was learning marching songs phonetically and only later understanding the meaning.
It’s actually easier to attempt to speak Russian than it is to learn an entire song. Source: the fact that this song requires significantly greater language comprehension than learning things like “yes” and “no” or how to count to 10.
@@evano4780 Yeah, said no one ever. Then again you're just some American soy Antifa boy, so what would you really know about actually learning a language and speaking it fluently... "attempting to speak" meaning babbling a word or two, MAYBE, but ACTUALLY attempting to learn to speak a language... yeah way harder than just phonetically learning a song. I could sing a whole range of songs and recite the whole code of honour before I could hold basic conversations, that weren't broken gypsy French. The same went for everyone else in the platoon, except the francophones, naturally... Take care, "Comrade".
@@evano4780 P.S.: I prefer my own version (and I suspect this might have been the original, that the Commies ripped off... because after all "holy" and "sacred" doesn't go so well with a commie song, does it?) Gniloy kommunistcheskoy nechisti zagonim pulyu v lob, otrebʹyu chelovechestva skolotim krepkiy grob!
Not really comprehension, though. You need to understand pronunciation and how to read Cyrillic (unless you're reading Latinized Russian), yes, but you don't need to form your sentences on the fly or understand what they mean, you just need to produce the sounds. Speaking a language is more than just copying noises, it involves the ability to create sentences, phrases, and meaning of your own. For example, I can sing Spanish songs with near perfect pronunciation, but I don't understand most of the stuff I'm saying and could never speak Spanish fluently. I know that a double "L" in Spanish produces an English "y" as in "you" sound; R's at the beginning of words or R's that are doubled are rolled; an N with a tilde is pronounced like an English "nya"; that words with no accents usually have emphasis on the second last syllable, and that vowels with accents over them ignore the second last syllable rule and are emphasized instead. Once you are fluent in the pronunciation of a language, singing a song in it is just making those noises with melody, something that is not particularly difficult.
@@lubomirpetrowpahutaPoland was rebuilt by hands of workers and you're just ungrateful. If Red Army didn't come, Polish population would go below 1 million.
@@gladys2563 Najprawdopodobniej mało wiesz o historii Polski i jej sąsiadów. Owszem, budowali go radzieccy robotnicy, technicy i inżynierowie. You probably know little about the history of Poland and its neighbors. I see it from the stereotype you use. The "Liberating" Red Army remained in all the countries through which it reached Berlin. She left Poland on September 17, 1993, a symbolic date for Poland because it marked the day of the attack by Soviet Russia 54 years earlier. As I'm guessing, you also believe that thanks to the effective help of the USSR, Poland was rebuilt. You're talking nonsense. The USSR robbed all captured countries of any equipment that could be useful and took them deep into its territory. They expected a conflict with the Allies and were preparing production facilities. My grandfather, who worked in an explosives factory, opposed the theft and export of modern equipment to the USSR, for which he was arrested and sent to a labor camp. Another person was arrested with him who did not survive the "interrogations" by the Security Office supervised by the NKVD. The body was placed in a closed coffin and it was forbidden to open it. When writing about rebuilding Poland, thinking about the help of the USSR, you may have had in mind Stalin's gift to Warsaw in the form of the monumental Palace of Culture and Science. Yes, it was built by Soviet workers, technicians and engineers. The problem is that for Poles it had the same symbol as a dog urinating on a tree. With this monster, Stalin signaled that the USSR would remain in this area forever. You also write that if it were not for the Red Army that "liberated" Poland, the population of Poland under German rule would have amounted to 1 million citizens. However, I will say that if the Red Army had not entered Poland, 1 million more citizens would have survived the war. Most importantly, someone who becomes a nuisance and an uninvited guest cannot be treated as a liberator.

Could you post the link to the picture with the "We'll beat them again" poster? Also great work yet again! It's nice to finally hear a good modern rendition of this beauty.
Oh yes, I was so hoping for you to eventually cover this one and man, you did an amazing job! I just love this hymn. It's so full of determination and heroism.
That was absolutely beautiful. Will be using your video to learn this song lyrically, and eventually musically too when I'm able to aquire the time and money to return the piano.
Another great cover Now that your doing vocal versions of Soviet songs please do polyuushlka polye( maybe use some English for the Paul Robeson version
Ight I know you said Russian is daunting, and that it is a little more fast paced as a song but man I just need that dopamine injection so you ever think you're gonna do mother anarchy? if not then do the rare version, "horses are running" or "mother anarchy rare version" on yt
@@MonsieurJack95 awesome, when I sing its usually spontaneous too lmao (that's why I stopped commissions personally). this video was also really good dude, for someone who claims to find Russian difficult you're genuinely gifted in this shit. btw I recommended the rare version because it's a little slower paced and has less lyrics. 1312!
Just discovered this recently and the same with The Red Army Choir, playing it since esp this song. Such a beautiful and magnificent patriotic song. I thank those who sacrificed for our freedom, love this song.... It's my ringtone now lol....
This is amazing! One of the greatest songs in history, and you did an awesome rendition of it. Glory to the Soviet Union, glory to comrade Stalin, victory to the working masses against fascist barbarism all over the world!
Hello, do you happen to have just the piano version of this (without the vocals)? I would like to transcribe it but it's a bit hard to hear the piano part.
Не плохо товарищ , поработать над русским конечно не помешает , но прям круто . Спасибо товарищ ! Not bad comarada , work for you langwagen , it is cool . Sencu comarada .
Hey can I make a suggestion? I think a wonderful song for you to play would be the Soviet song "Песня о Тревожной Молодосты" or "Song of the Restless Youth". It's a classic communist song from the 1950s.
@@MCKevin289The Ukrainian masses maybe, but the Ukrainian state is a bourgeois state with many fascists. Also, this video is about the USSR, which gave Ukraine self determination. Putin is against the USSR.
Forgot to mention, can you please do a piano cover on "Një Djep Në Barrikadë - A Cradle On the Barricade"? Its an Albanian communist song and I bet it'll turn out great!
