Thanks for that roundup, Chuck. Yamaha really let down so many of us this year. They made a big noise about some "groundbreaking" instruments coming in the synth category and it just turned out to be the CK, which was already on sale by the time NAMM came around. Most were expecting a Montage+ or some sort of AN-X but it was not to be. And it seems the Montage is actually discontinued, although Yamaha is not officially stating as much. We know it is because we have spoken to many dealers who have told us it is discontinued. What replaces it though? Is Yamaha really leaving the top-end synth category vacant? It's all a bit of a mystery. Anyway, thanks again for your insight, Chuck. Much appreciated as always.
These new Yamaha pianos are using the 20 years old action that you will find on their cheapest pianos. I'm sorry, but Numa X 88 weights 14kg and has much better action (yes, I know it doesn't have speakers).
I was hoping Korg would do a scoop like Oberheim did, bringing out the OB-X8 before the Behringer clone saw the light of day. If Korg announced a Polytwelve or ten at this show it would have made the biggest splash of the show. Now my expectations are lowered to null.
Yes - that was announced a few weeks BEFORE the NAMM show, therefore its not 'new' as of the show. Here's more info: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gONYU1tapok.html
I think Roland, Korg and other hardware keyboard manufacturers will vanish into history if they do not product innovative things. Software industry and new silicon chips like Apple M2 are growing so Fast. Roland and Yamaha has some advantage as they produce other instruments but Korg mainly produce hardware synthisizers. They even stop producing hardware versiyon of opsix, wave state. We dont even see New Kronos because workstation concept is all over
Roland and Korg DO produce innovative things! Its just that they've decided there's other, more lucrative avenues for them other than the NAMM show to introduce their products.
