@@EGarrett01 not really. Crusher is a dime piece. Any man would have raw dogged her right then and there if she came on that strong. Not Picard, even though he really wanted to. He's a man of will and restraint.

@@spearofconquest It's not about whether she's "hot enough" for a guy to want to have sex with her. I don't think they knew what the characters or tone of the show were supposed to be yet.
I never watched this show, but I have seen enough bits to know a bit. That said, it didn't effect him because he is like that anyway and has to repress the urges all the time. So when that haze hit, he was already fighting it anyway. Everyone else was simply changing their mind.
two things from this scene....Gates McFadden can sure be a lustful vamp when she wants to be and that "huhuhuhuhuhuhuh" sound picard makes is pretty funny...
milesmouse72 The funniest story I ever heard was when Gates talked about auditioning for the show. She didn’t even want to audition for it but then when she saw the script she thought “I like crusher she seems like she’s funny” Then was disgusted bc crusher never had any more funny scenes. But yeah Gates is I would say 100% the opposite of crushers character because she is a smart ass and even though I wouldn’t say she’s a Lustful vamp she certainly is sexy and knows how to turn it on.

I can’t figure out who made that damn sound, i think it was too deep for Crusher, cause she was soo highly pitched, and Picard was talking. It seems like Crusher either moaned too sexually and they edited it with a Elvis type fella they had on hand that day, or she said something too graphic and they edited it. That doesn’t sound like any of their voices TO ME. THIS IS MY OPINION I have spoken.

They actually referenced this in the Episode "Sarek". Spock's dad was losing his emotional control due to basically Vulcan Alzheimer's, and his mental powers meant that his out of control emotions were being broadcast to those around him, I believe Ten Forward actually got a bar-brawl going at one point. Anyway, because the negotiations Sarek was supposed to do were so important, and Sarek was the only one who could do it, Picard let him mind-meld with him so he could lend his discipline and self-control to Sarek, while Picard had to ride out the whirlwind of Sarek's unchecked Vulcan emotions and repressed feelings. Cue Sarek calmly calling Riker "Number One" and getting down to brass tracks, then it cuts to Picard about to have a heart attack as he swings from full uproarious fury, to bouts of maniacal laughter and giddyness, to weeping uncontrollably, then back to rage and fury all in about the space of a minute or two. The acting is amazing!

@lenakingsleigh Spiner has been known to pull a lot of pranks on the set for comedic and dramatic flair. And he was often allowed to get away with it because he knew he was popular with the fans and that the show literally could not do without him.
It’s actually considered one of the worst because it’s just a remake of an original series episode called the Naked Time.(aka the episode where Sulu goes shirtless and takes up fencing)
temptation lol! We know he has feeling for her and especially in a untimely moment when she's in heat. Of course he's trying to control something that any guy wouldn't deny an offer like sex.
"It's a private matter" *removes hair clip* "i believe i've become infected myself captain" *splays across desk* *takes off jacket* it may be a bottle episode but it sure did the job of setting up the picard-crusher sexual tension for the rest of the series. a bit anvil-y too
It was the Picard maneuver, but I got the impression that Patrick Stewart felt uncomfortable in that scene, mind you I think it was the first few episodes of series 1.
Tripa Coffeenator Yeah I thought it was really early in the series, I remember he didn't look too comfortable at the time but then I also remember Patrick Stewart saying he didn't unpack his suitcases for 6 weeks because he thought he was going to get the sack.
This is the 2nd (or 3rd if you consider Encounter at Farpoint to be 2) episodes into TNG. It was incredibly early, and yes you're right, though I think it was more that Stewart didn't think the show would last any longer than one season.
This whole episode had me rolling! Picard is trying so desperately hard to hold it together but he's losing it. IMO, he should have just jumped in be with her, but that's just my opinion. XD
Because of one of the most important things to remember. Life isn't triple ecks. No fade to black after you both "finish" - you're both going to still be there, and the next day and the next.
Have to say Gates McFadden as Dr Crusher was a foxy lady back then. Saw this episode the other day and Picard's reaction to Beverly's amorous advances, cracked me up. *"Not now, Doctor.........please!"* 😂 Have you noticed this whole thing never affected Worf? He probably thought: *"Bunch of lightweights!"* (Crusher did say their behaviour was akin to alcohol consumption).
By all rights, Picard should be anything but a lightweight. Been drinking wine, sherries, brandies with alcohol content that rivals some liquors all his life. Could likely drink Scotty under the table and that's saying something considering the green stuff was testing even Scotty's limits. Picard drank it like it's nothing. Could probably hold his own with Worf or most Klingons drinking
Absolutely hilarious the first scene where they're in Picard's office and he does that laugh under his breath so funny I don't know if he scripted that or he came up that his own that made it much more awkward and hilarious
I get that the writers on TNG didn't want too much drama or romance between the characters, but eventually Picard gives that epic song and dance about Jack. Though kinda annoying they tap dance around their relationship for seven seasons but at times they basically seemed married but every episode except perhaps three is just they're "Close friends".
