Mine was also totodile My 1st pokemon game was heart gold and i was 5, my dad didnt think i could read it but in a week i finished it. (Beat red) And my starter was totodile

Oof..am I that old? My first was also totodile however, my first game was GBC Pokemon Silver. First team as far as I remember was Feraligatr, Pigdeotto, Skarmory, Gyrados, Rhyhorn, Ampharos. Clearly didn’t know typings or evolutions. This was before the internet told me 😂😂😂

When chillin didn’t use Nunel on Jirachi I almost had a stroke. That magnet pull and those ground type moves would’ve been gg for it. Plus it resists steel which is all Jirachi had...

It would've been a neutral hit as gen3 ruleset was applied. I think he knew this too, seeing as they realized the haunter's moveset was technically bad per gen 3 rules.

Robert-Jan Vedder Should of used solar beam on moltres though, it even zoomed in on it. It was probably the best option when compared to the rest of his team left. It’s high damage and would hit first turn.

I love how this one is full of coincidences that I consider plot twists. Loved this one before it even reached the battle. Seriously full totadile evo's, legendary luck, having solar beam while the other has drought.

For the love of god read the moves sometimes! Pleaseee! I was suffering for that solar beam you could have used against solrock!! It should be written in the move that in drought you don't need any time to charge it

Even if the move didn't say it, I thought everyone knew about the Sunny Day/Solar Beam combo, even people who don't play competitively like me. Apparently I was wrong though... I was also dying when he kept insisting on using Giga Drain when he had such a powerful move he could use immediately.

I enjoy their banter and the random way that they select Pokemon is fun but the actual battle gets frustrating when they don't know the type matchups and double swaps and select a dumb move then cancel and select another dumb move then cancel then pick any move but the move that would have been the best. I know I shouldn't care so much but.... Still love you guys 👊

Episode idea, reverse pick. Each person catches 10 pokemon, skips 1 of them, then gives 9 to the other person, who then gets to choose 6 of the remaining 9 pokemon.

I feel like you should do this with only saying the primary tyipings. Like with jirachi you said steel psych and Quick intstantly knew it was good, but if he only knew the steel part that could've made a difference. I think the less you know about the pokes you're choosign rhe beetter.

Video idea: you each catch a team, with skips and known move sets, but you don’t know if your trading teams until the end. That makes it so you need to be careful not to be to weak or to strong. You could use a randomizer, or a some other random way to determine if you switch or keep. Maybe you add up the Pokédex numbers of all the Pokémon you catch and then combine the totals of both teams; odd you switch, even you keep.

I'm not sure how well this idea would work, but randomize the starters from each gen. Then in gen 3, you can use both regions so you will have a total of 9 pokemon (6 for a team and 3 skips). But, you have to start from the first gen and move forward.

Wait, can we point out that the trio of jirachi, torkoal, and machop works type wise! Jirachi has psychic type which is good against fighting(machop). Machop has fighting which is good against rock(torkoal). And torkoal has. Fire which is good against steel(jirachi).

An idea for the next one. You spin a wheel of pokemon typing. If you span a type that one of the 3 "starter" pokemon have, you have to pick it up. You have skips available as usual and if there are multiple choses for the type, you get to choose which one you want.

Challenge idea Catch a team of randomised pokemon 4 skips allowed. Twist nr1 if you catch a baby or NFE you are allowed to evolve or not (some choices might not benefit from evolving like Scyther with good moveset). Twist nr2 you're allowed to pick any items you want on showdown which will also make you consider which pokemon to skip or not.

It was definitely a misstep taking Ground/Psychic over Water/Ice. Because here's the weird thing: Water/Ice has a very high likelihood of actually being good, because Shellder and Seel are both pure Water. As of Gen 3 there were six Water/Ice types and four were fully evolved.

challenge idea: when picking starters both players are completely informed, no hiding what type of pokemon it is, but you don't have skips, instead each player have 3 vetoes allowing them to force the opponent to skip a pokemon. tbh, I think it would be interesting if challenges in the future had something like 2 skips and 1 veto instead of 3 skips, that would allow the players to mess with the opponents teambuilding to leave weaknesses or veto the occasional legendary.

I have a challenge, not sure if you've done this yet but here we go. Though out his journey, ash as used many teams. So using a random number generator. You will pick a team of six This will include all of his teams from the start to current gene. The first number will decide what team The second will choose the pokemon in that slot You will have one skip for team and one skip for the pokemon. If you want to spice it up, you can pick the other number for the other team. Random move sets and abilities. Not by type, to make it more interesting also.

If you can use save states (and didn't do this already): Randomized starters, you choose which ones to take/give/dump (one goes to you, one goes to the other player, one is skipped) Each of you does that 4 times, and you get 2 skips. It's kinda like playing f*k/marry/kill, but with Pokemon
