I know! I was just thinking the same thing! And so was I. I used to love dancing around the house to this. So funky! I'm delighted to know that Daryl likes the same music as me!
OMG a Scottish band was playing soul and funky music, best time in my live. I watched them twice live on stage and Let´s go round again was all we need for the rest of the night...😍
If you're listening to this song, and your foot isn't tappin' and your head isn't bobbin', then you might be dead! Wow! For a dude from Scotland, Alan Gorrie (founding Average White Band member) sure does bring the FUNK! And you add Daryl Hall's amazing band to the mix, and it's a SOULFUL, funky good time!
+Roger Plummer I was listening, and scrolling down to read the comments. I hit yours and sure enough, foot tappin' head bobbin'. Now I have goosebumps, I guess I am alive after all. Any day you wake up above the dirt is a good day. Any day you start off with this is gonna be a great day!!
I can't get enough of Daryl's House. This is the greatest show on earth today. It has not received the recognition it deserves. One day it will. Just takes time.
Daryl's third solo album, "Soul Alone," featured writing collaborations with Alan Gorrie. (Hall and Oates' Band and Average White Band have both included Clyde Jones on bass, Clyde even appears on later seasons of LFDH on bass and vocals), Clyde has also toured as the lead vocalist with AWB. I once saw AWB, with Clyde Jones and Alan Gorrie, they opened for Hall and Oates (with T-Bone Wolk) in San Diego @Humphrey's By The Bay, the ending jam featured both bands playing, "Pick Up The Pieces," and iirc they covered the Delfonics' "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)." A good time was had by one and all! Good Times, Baby!
Hahaha!! My kids tell us all the time that we had the best music. I told my parents that too, and their music was WWII era Big Band.. Bottom line? ALL music is the best!!
not really THE most incredible...but it ties for the best with so many of the other "Live At Darryl's " performances...check out the one with Smokey Robinson...and numerous others....of course at the end of the you're expression heartfelt enthusiasm for what is totally awesome...
Me and my wife saw them 4 times in last 40 years, every time was a ball. When I play their double life album, I make sure that my neighbors are listening to it too.
Fantastic masterclass from that drummer - he’s keeping that altogether, no mistake. Exceptional musicians, every one of them. This is the joy of music right here. Wish I could explain it to my kids, lol.
Darrel is in heaven with these guys, he can't stop smiling. He loves good music and thank you for sharing with us is is some epic real, real good funk.
The truly amazing thing about this song is that it was originally recorded by a Scottish band. It's as good a funk tune as any recorded in America (or anywhere else!) by funk bands.
Wouldn't it be awesome to see the Tower Of Power horn section in this band ! These guys did a great job, great lineup, this IS the best version of this song!!
And the fact that they were THAT good and still (depending on your taste) you could find twenty or so acts that were more popular if not more. Shows how strong the 70's were when it came to music. Try and do that today.
I was lucky enough to see Tower of Power twice in my life...they were SO TIGHT! Love the way Daryl is smilin so big when they start to play. That is how I always felt, watching them and seeing them....
Daryl smiles and grooves throughout the whole tune....the acoustics at DARYL'S HOUSE studio are phenomenal. I never, ever get tired of watching and listening to these...
true artists that love what each other's talents are and totally enjoy jammin together,, pure joy to listen to and see the humility and respect they have for each other LOVE IT .
DAMN!!!! This is LIVE as HELL! Look at those seasoned, amazing musicians playing along side the young unz. That's how ya do it. Show the new guard the old ways to keep that groove alive.
I was on tour with AWB in 1991. Didn't even know that was Elliot from AWB in Daryl's band until a month go. Even saw Hall and oates live with Tears for Fears in Miami recently and didn't recognize him on stage. Crazy! Alan was a good guy to be on tour with. Friendly and gracious!
Kids & babies. .this is Real music. Ask your grandparents for their records. Then...Buy you a turntable,, receiver & some speakers. .I promise your brain will love it.
Damn! This has my whole house str8 stankin! Daryl Hall was grinning from ear to ear like a kid the whole time lol you can tell he was greatly inspired by these guys and was honored to play with them.
that was baddas, not sure what was better, the music or the smiles on everyone's face,... just to be there would be a blessing.... a fly on the wall,.... i wish i was there...love all your music bro...
Oh Yeah! I was fortunate enough to catch AWB opening for H&O nearly two decades ago. T-Bone was sporting the biggest smile after both bands came out and jammed. I hope T-bone is resting in peace, he earned it in this life.
Daryl is smiling so much because he knows they're sounding like the old Rhythm Section from back in the day. James Brown's band. Which is where The Average White Band got their funk. The horn section really takes it to another level. It's just plain funky, and that's why Daryl is smiling ear-to-ear and I don't blame him. so am I !
Daryl's House what a happening place who wouldn't want to spend a day there listening to such amazing talent performing and having a great time doing it!!!
Wow, I haven't seen a live version of this, only the album this track came from. Great to see and hear it live after so many decades and Daryl loved playing this, judging by the smile on his face throughout the song. Great stuff and I will also have a smile on my face tonight as I sleep.
@@alanoneill3065 Doobie Brothers show was in 72, 73. AWB was around 73. Many groups played for free in several SF Parks and Berkley had concerts as well. you only heard of free shows on the radio the day of the event. Was able to see many late 60's and early 70's new stars. Before Woodstock, after that they were famous.
@@sammartinez4244 Nice!...I was in London in '73...used to go to the GREYHOUND, Fulham Palace Road ...a big pub with bands most nights...free entry. In ONE MONTH , May I think....I saw AWB, The Wailers, Golden Earring + a band from my home town!
@@alanoneill3065 I remember in the 70's on late night TV, they had Rock Concert, I saw Golden Earring and Focus, Radar Love and Hocus Pocus both these songs were way ahead hard driving. Concerts at Winterland in SF,CA. was cheap. General admission was 3.50 and over ten years it move up to about 6 dollars. You could always get a ticket day of the show when the box office opened. It was very easy to go with a group, take turns in line and I think ticket limit was 10.For about 4 years I went to every Concert of the groups I wanted to see, it was my hobbie. Would spend the whole day in SF, it was Nice and Fun, lot to do. Fresh fish on the wharf, pizza anything you wanted. I miss those days, Now SF, is a Sewer because Pelosi let it go down hill. Not safe anymore. TAKE CARE.
Living one of the best music making nations on earth (the UK) how come there has never been the equivelent to Daryl's house by (________)? fill in the blank. People are crying out for live talented musicians and not the computer generated dross from today.
Now....THIS is music..... Great song, from a great era. Had my band play this as me and my wife were introduced at our wedding reception. Started the party off, and no one ever sat down after it! Thank you, AWB !
It has robe such a thrill not o Lu to have played such a master piece, but to listen to it throughout the decades! How much fun and thank you for Letting us bring such great memories ❤️❤️❤️
