@OllamhDrab
@OllamhDrab 4 года назад
I dunno about shrewdness. I never buy a car I cannot love in some way. Never. (If I can afford a car in any century, I will need to fix things anyway. That's just my life. If I want something nice, I need to fix or make it. That's just where I am in the American actual class system. As a car gal. OK. I deal. But . The love needs to be there. Or else I will be angry at all the cars. My father taught me a lot about cars, but he was angry at all the cars he bought. He didn't love them. He taught me a lot about them but he yelled and sweated and swore at them. I paid attention cause I saw them as friends to take care of and paid attention. ) Some will never sell a car to someone that will not love it. This is also good. Someone loves this lancer and it shows. Baddabing.

That was well worth waiting a week for this video! 👍 The owner really got a great deal when he purchased the car and did a tremendous job on restoring it! And you missed one detail! Even though the seat belts feature TURBO on the fabric, the driver seat is even better: it has a cover that reads COVER. You can't beat that with turbo badging! 😆 About you getting a similar deal: I think if you would drive to Yokohama you would be able to find a very decently priced Honda City Turbo II in Derek's parking lot. It's a non runner, but that's why it's a project car. Nah just kidding... More seriously: maybe a Honda City cabriolet project? Those are reasonably priced and designed by pininfarina

@Wardy_AU
@Wardy_AU 4 года назад
@@BorkenGarage Nah, they were different again from the Colt we got. It is a weird timeline to follow between MMC and MMA but I will give it a crack, lol Japan - Australia Galant - Sigma/Scorpion Lancer - Lancer Mirage - Colt Colt - Lancer The Lancer here (EX A172A-A176A) was the second generation Lancer and ran from '79-'87. Sadly, we never saw these in Australia. The first generation Lancer we did get (A70) which included the Celeste hatchback was discontinued in Australia in 1977 and replaced by the second generation Colt (A151-155) which in Japan was a Mirage. Interestingly, the first Colts were fully imported but we began production in Australia in 1982. 1983 saw the release of the third generation Colt but we kept building the 2nd gen until 1989. By the time the we saw a Mirage on our shores it was a 2 door Lancer hatch back in around 1992 and then as a thinly disguised Proton Satria in around 1998?

For those who don't know, a yen is about a USD *cent,* so if you knock off two zeroes you're usually in the ballpark. :) That Lancer is so adorable and 80's. I love it. :) It seems some things about Lancers didn't change much, though: my ex had a US version Lancer ES from like 2003 and mostly what I wanted to do for that was just...add a front frame brace and maybe relocate the battery there, as well as put some kind of alloy wheels on. (I also would have wanted to change the rear bracing back there: it was strong enough, but in the way of so much that could have make life easy when we folded the rear seats down that I wanted to cut it out and kinda put roll cage tubing in. Really a wagon version would have been perfect but those were very rare. :) (also I always intended to make up and tap in a foot-heating duct for the passenger side cause yer feet would get *cold* in there in the very northern places we were. Oh, also one of those drifter e-brake buttons for a little more use of my rally-driving skills. :) )

nice :). everyone is loosing theyr shit over lancer evos and stuff, but honestly, this is the one i would actually want haha. recently i got a real good deal on a car too, another micra k11, rhd one even wich is very unusual here. but that one is in a process of parting it out and whats left gonna get scrapped, condition is not great and there is no tittle so its not worth it, but it got alot of useable parts that would run me way more than what i payd for the whole car, and as a added bonus i could atleast shortly experience a rhd car, being in lhd country for whole my life it was an really interesting experience hahaha
@wasabicars
@wasabicars 4 года назад
Nice. Good to hear your able to get parts off it. You mention there's no title. This is a major issue in Japan. Cars don't have "papers" and that means it can never be re-registered. Seems like bureaucratic silliness. Surely the government has records of a car when the owner registers it. The system seems broken.
@gred_cz

@@wasabicars thats actually same here, infact if you want to get rid of papers and keep the car for spares, officially thats not even possible, you need to scrap the car to recieve a paper wich you use to cancel the paperwork lol...but there are ways around it lel. this k11 was never even registered in cz before, someone imported it from uk, but the uk papers are gone/lost too at this point lol

I think it was kind of the same with my first car in America, a Plymouth Duster. An uncle was maybe trying to sell that but the price was kind of high, for what she was at the time, cause he was attached, but I think my Ma said, 'Help! I tried restricting my daughter's car budget from her earnings and now she's going to buy two and a half rusty old Porsches!' Uncle was like, "Ok, you're worthy of this :) " Sold for a token sum. :) Come to think of it, a lot of the coolest cars I ever *had* were cause someone I knew was trying to fix me up.Back when few *wanted* a lot of the cool stuff no one wanted, everyone knew, "Olive's gonna love this 77 Celica GT liftback like few others.' And they were not wrong. All the one I had needed was a windshield, but those were expensive at the time. For the same price I got a donor car to rebuild that Duster instead, so I did that. But I really wanted to put that Celica in a time tunnel for later. :)
