During her travels around the world, Pickford was famous to return with lavish gifts that ultimately turned her pad into a museum complete with antiques, paintings, swords, costumes and a pair of Chinese carved rhino horns.
They were the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes of early 1900s Hollywood. Now you can own one of more than 700 pieces of fine art, furnishings and jewelry that graced the home, dubbed Pickfair, owned by Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks.
This amazing two-day auction, conducted by Julien's Auctions, and broadcast live on Auction Network (auctionnetwork.com) will be held at the Beverly Hilton, Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23, starting at 10am/8c both days.
Pickford was known as "America's Sweetheart" during Hollywood's Golden Age of silent films. Dinners there were legendary with guests including Charlie Chaplin, Albert Einstein, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Some of the storied and exotic items from Pickfair up for bid include rare artworks such as two oil-on-canvas still life paintings by Paul de Longpre and Philip Mercier.
If you can't make it to Los Angeles for this event, you can get a front-row seat on the Auction Network. Be sure to register now for this event. It's free, and easy to Watch, Bid, and Win on Auction Network!

What gets me is the mean spirited creep who demolished PICKFAIR without regard for early film history or architecture. Oh yes I heard stories about the structure being weak etc. and I say BULL!

They LATER claimed-via Pia Zadora and her old man millionaire husband, Ricklis-that it was because of a ghost/haunting: complete hogwash-they just wanted to tear PickFair down.

Pickfair should have become the very shrine , museum of all Hollywood . Pia had no business “ renovating “ it to the point completely destroyed now . Believe these days even that does not stand any longer .

They didn't "renovate" anything, they tore down everything but the gates and a small guest house in the back. Her husband was a pos.

Kirsten Dunst resembles Mary Pickford.

It would be appropriate to donate what belonged to Pickfair to a Museum.

What is really depreciated and sad at the same time is that this golden palace with it's golden actress is being remembered through an auction geared towards the almighty dollar. Look at we have done with technology. The real story of movies begins with her and grandstands of beginners like Chaplin. Without Keaton and Arbuckle as masterminds of comedy-would society know where to begin? Probably not-look where we have landed? The element of surprise is past and gone. Phones that do everything for you and computer apps that tell you what you should do in situations of the heart. Is anyone real anymore or are we to remain a product of our conduct for the last 30-40 years? And who might decide that? I am one who does remain against that vitality-I refuse to own a cell phone. I remain human-If I have something to say-I say it in person. I have maps in my car and can stay my course. My point is that forgetting those that gave us a leap in the movies to give faith or truth to ourselves might be worth considering to be remembered in a better surrounding than that of a fortune hunt. Where are the human minds? That is my question.................

I myself and pretty anti-capitalist and anti-consumption but I'm grateful technology has the power to allow younger generations, like mine, to learn about past idols and stars. You sound a bit like a Luddite. And as far as comedy with Laurel and Hardy, their routines were similar to that of Vaudeville Stars who traveled all over the country in the world, the only difference being, they perform their gags and front of a camera to be etched on celluloid. Society has always had clowns. But, while their jokes and acts are memorable and a part of American pathos for sure, so are some of the Vaudeville acts that weren't ever on film. Just remember, when you downplay the importance of technology, that the film industry also employed technology and was its own Silicon Valley in a way.

Qué desgracia no esperan que la gente se termine de morir para hacer esguaces con sus cosas, esas cosas que ella compro no debería poseerla sino sus familiares o seres queridos y si ya estan muertos sus descendientes..Que arrecho..
