There was something very classy and commanding about the old Pickfords colours of glossy dark navy blue and post box red wheels with white signwriting, always made a superb impression when you saw one of their magnificent lorries on the road. When they changed to a lighter blue with white stripes and orange wheels and signwriting it didn't anywhere near look so good or classy in my humble opinion. The classic four in line low loaders from back in the day still look great, several British manufacturers such as Cranes and Dysons etc built these versatile trailers that were the backbone of many heavy haulage fleets, sadly nothing much like them these days except a few left in preservation or languishing in farmyards and scrapyards. Great upload once again, many thanks! 👍🇬🇧
Great memories of being a kid, down the liverpool dock area.remember seeing many an odd, large, heavy cargo being transported by Pickfords. The main Pickfords yard was just across the road from our house. Inbedded memories for me, Being the mischievous little boy I was.ha....!
Bringing Pickfords a bit more up to date with the Volvo’s . I notice a Scammell with a load for shipment to Ceylon. A lot of people today will say Ceylon ?
