Hi! I’m a new RU-vidr and was hoping I could have a little support! I started about 2 years ago and have already grown a successful amount! I do lots of cool vids and love and notice every single subscriber, thank you!
I have finally started my venture into the streaming world and it is absolutely insane how much there is to learn and know. Your videos have been walking me through almost all of it, thank you for taking the time to do what you do man.
Had 10 viewers last night on 2k. Lol first time doing those big boy numbers 😂😂 told myself “it’s time to get a webcam” and here I am. Thanks for the tips
This was incredibly well-made and super informative! I started with the C920, then upgraded to the Brio, and now I'm going the DSLR. I'm going for the Sony a6400 but this helped me figure out a couple of other things as well. Thanks a ton!

I am a lifetime fighting game player and before Covid I was a touring musician. I’ve been told by several people that i should start streaming and your videos have been a God send. Thanks for your hard work and information
Thank you . This was very helpful to someone just starting to try to figure out how to do Live streaming. If I may offer a wee observation: Bokeh is related to DOF (depth of field) but refers more to how lights in the background get portrayed with a more blurred DOF. "Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light". (Wikipedia) Photographers usually refer to bokeh as the shape of light points in the background. I think you are referring more to the DOF - how much the background gets blurred.
Everyone, the Logitech C930e is a slightly more expensive (about $10 extra) alternative to the Logitech C920 however, it provides you with that desired wide look with a Field of View of 90° and a noticeably more crisp look! Hope this helps some :)
I just want to thank you so much, although I haven't hit one hundred followers or subscribers on twitch and RU-vid, I always feel more confident when I am following your tips, it has even helped me grow a lot faster rate than I used to. Thank You!
For me I'll be using my DSLR for music videos and street interviews too, so I'm just looking at something that will double as a stream camera too. Pretty good value if I can get all that for $600. But unfortunately, no. Capture card +$100, tripod +$30, extra lens +$100, lighting +$70, background set up +$50, comes out to an even $950
bro this guy gives such wholesome die hard advice love these videos never been more interested in learning videos watch till the last second every time
Larger sensors will not give you a “more drastic” bokeh! If you compare it to a webcam yeah but thats not a webcams intention anyways. You can get an amazing bokeh from a cropped sensor too and thats because bokeh pretty much solely comes from the lens. The sensor just transfers the data. Bokeh comes from aperture because that dictates how much light is exposed to the sensor in term controlling depth of field. Dont go buy a full frame camera because you think itll give you a fancy blurred scene. Invest in a decent lens with a wide aperture like 1.4 or 1.8. Even the kit lenses which are usually 3.5 have a decent bokeh for the bucknif your sole intention is twitch.
Firstly, Greetings from Bonnie Scotland, secondly, I'm a 60 year old gamer, that has just started streaming, I would like too thank you from the bottom of my heart, for your invaluable videos that you produce for your viewers, the information that you give has helped me immensely setting up my stream. I am not a tech head when it comes too setting things up on a computer, far from it, I always require assistance of some sort. However I never give in, one way or another I will succeed in what i am trying to do. And I have you, too thank for that. I'm not rich by any means, I have always got too work on a budget, which you always cover in your videos, once again many thanks for your invaluable help.
I'm starting out, but already have most stuff that beginners should have and watching this and seeing the setups you recommend for beginner/pro is crazy and helped me figure out so much of what I need that would benefit me. Especially with the webcams. Videos like these are great!
Sensor size has nothing to do with bokeh, the lower f-stop your lens is able to go f1.8 -f1.2 = more bokeh, f6.0- f20 = sharper background, The number of blades in the iris controls the quality of bokeh. However, crop sensor will have less field of view when you're using a wide angle lens compared to a full frame sensor.
Sensor size does have an effect on dof the biggest example I can show you is smart phones, they all have small sensors witch if you seen a picture or video you will notice that everything is in focus. If you move up in senor size (keeping the same f stop) you would notice more bokeh. But like you did say f stop does have a impact on dof.
Unfortunately for me, I just started streaming and don't have a webcam. Needless to say I can't get a camera right now because they are all sold out :(
Yeah, everone needs a webcam now for home office and probably a lot new streamers starting aswell... :( In europe you can only get them used for almost double the new price.
I have bean cheeking your how to and videos and whats good and whats not good like this one and I have learned so much from you. I want to thank you for doing this. I have been learning on my own and finally found some one that is not dumb about it. I know you might not be one of the best to explain all this. in my list of history no one comes close. You make it fun and entertaining. SO thanks for that.
"So you're a Twitch Partner. You have a couple thousand subs. You're ready to invest in a brand new camera." Well.....I'm a Twitch Affiliate and have 7 subs but I think I'm going to upgrade to a Logitech BRIO Webcam. Thank you for the video!
He knows his stuff and im learning how to start my twitch with his help thank you for making this video and i hope you continue for a long time to come
Hey your video was super helpful and you are a great communicator. I also appreciate that your content is clean. These days that really stands out and it really makes you come across as trustworthy. Great job friend!!
Besides misleading what causes a blurry background... Aperture, not sensor size dictates... aperture is not adjustable with cheap cameras. It is with better ones, more so DSLR's. Now sensor size, frame rate, and lighting all have a correlation with how you can adjust your aperture... But by themselves have nothing to do with blur. Besides that, great video. Very helpful.
Hey, first of all I want to say that I really appreciate this video! It really helped me with the decisions I made! However, I still need a dummy battery could you suggest me on for the Sony a7? Thanks in advance!
@@mistergameplay9766 Here i am speaking by past experience. 1. The playstation camera could work as a webcam 2. They maybe have a laptop or something where they stream of. Remote play exists

This video was super helpful! I am a streamer who is super sensitive to light and it was good to get all the information. Sadly my budget can't support a full frame camera (I think the brio is what I will end up buying), but it really helped me know what I would get without a cam link and an idea of how each camera could handle light! Thanks!
I heard that using a DSLR for streaming can burnout and cause damage to it because its not necessarily made for streaming. Is this true? Great video btw
I appreciate all the advice brother. I started streaming for shits and gigs and ran into alot of small problems that your videos have helped immensely with
Dumb question but can these cameras be used for Xbox one and PS4? Or do those have different kinds you have to get? I’m new to this equipment so thank you in advance
Very engageable and kept my focus through and through, despite having limited knowledge of the subject at hand. Normally watching something of this nature would have me fast forwarding throughout, but this video, I watched straight through. Great video!
Much cheaper SLR solution: Used GH4 ($375) + Laowa 7.5mm ($400-$500) (equivalent to about 15mm full frame) + Elgato Cam Link ($130). All in all this is about a $1000 rig lol. If you don't need the ultra wide angle you can get a $100 15mm (30mm full frame equivalent) to save some and get the wider lens later. Still really expensive lol but it's versatile, can record ENDLESSLY (without potential overheating issues like Sony) and is a very popular setup for a side gig like real estate photography / videography and other video projects. Your setup is obv better but a lottt more expensive lol (as you mentioned)
Here is why I Subscribed, your videos are professional, they are full of important information based on experience, they are unbiased and well edited. I can use them to make informed decisions on what to buy for my setup as an absolute novice. So thanks for your time and your efforts, they are appreciated.
Your videos have been so helpful to me and figuring out what is the best upgrade for my life streaming as well as blog video content so thank you so much I have been watching all of your videos on camera selection and comparison
Great! Really x10 helped me. I was about to buy a webcam...but realized gotta use all my DSLRs I have lying around. I had tried hooking up one with an expensive software... of course expensive SUBSCRIPTION no less. Got the advice and answer I needed...get a vid cap card/connector. Really really appreciate it. You da man, man....
I know you said the A7 is a good recommendation full frame camera, but there is one option that wasn't mentioned that goes a long way. APSC! The a5100, a6000 (6300, and above) from sony though it is a cropped sensor, it packs great features and image quality that is beautiful (considering you've given your scene goof lighting and exposure). I've seen many Twitch/Mixer Partners go this route due to clean HDMI out and great image quality. The a6000 is trending around 568$! The only thing most don't mention is the small color correction you have to do due to colors in body being flat so that its ready to color grade in post. Canon wins in terms straight out of body color science. That being said, Full Frame is a BEAST and next on my list on camera bodies to get.
This video convinced me to get a A7SII. I don't stream often, but the photo/video quality when I compared it with my smartphone and c920 looked terrible compared. I just wish it was easier to carry these big cameras and lenses everywhere, because even after just a couple hours messing around with it the photo/video quality is on a whole other level.
I have the C920 and its driving me crazy I live stream as well as record via OBS but I am struggling with the light washing out my colours! Any advice? I have tried manual options in the Logitech software and OBS with no luck!! as soon as I draw i lose crispness and colour
Omg Brooo? We greatly appreciate this informative video we been very frustrated with finding the right web cam for live streaming on RU-vid we hate when our videos were lagging when we go live now it all makes sense bro we been following your channel and been learning alot from you bro...
I’ve watched hundreds of streaming videos to get information on good set ups for streaming and none of them were as informative as this video was.. Thanks for all the info!
Your channel/podcasts have been invaluable. Thanks. Your advice and presentation is flawless - from my perspective. Your thought process/justification/decision-making-walkthrough was missing tho': I think from your perspective, you've accrued so much experience, you don't remember the doubt about the outset when you're googling lots of advice channels. You made the natural/perfect choices and bulletpointed the justitifcations clinically, clearly and effectively. But, it was prescriptive (maybe cos you were addressing to your fans who already grew to trust you), and didn't step into the mind of the person who was actually comparing the products. This meant I knew the scale/range/quality of the products, but misjudged what level was right for me(very subjective). I went though, 'cheap cam' - regretted it, then the logitech C920x(on your adivce - feels good), and now i'm thinking about the brio(again on your advice - but I can afford to take my time to skill up too). I'm going over all your videos again. Your channel source was v. influential in my decision making. Good Job. addendum/edit: In retrospect, I think i focussed on the missing element ("the walkthrough") not because you're missing it(I don't *remember* anyone else attempting it ), but because you're the only one that's *almost* - I've noticed - 'going that extra mile' - which it why it's registering.
Haha - hate jump cuts = usually a subconscious trustability issue / what are you covering up?! But your presenting is fantastic, so best cam for continuous one shot presenting upgrade in 2020 info would be great please😁😘 ps. The over-used adage of “edits are required due to shorter attention spans” is a load of b*llox, when humans are interested our attention stays focused & quick flashes actually deter our learning intake via Visual Impact... our eyes take in so much more than we know we see... YOUR content & delivery style is brilliant Harris, you exclude natural #ConfidenceOnCamera, so no need for so many jump-cuts! 🤩💕
