George your place is awesome. I have learnt so much from you. I am planting like mad over here in country WA in my back yard. I have 80 acres - but I still have a ‘back yard’ area. I am going for the ‘dense jungle’ look. Loquats, mangoes, white sapote, black sapote, guavas, Feijoas, stone fruit, citrus. A lot of inspiration is from YOU. Your videos have actually somewhat changed my life,

It’s interesting you say Greek cuisine doesn’t have vegetarian dishes. Most Greeks who follow a more traditional Greek diet don’t eat meat every day, in fact it used to be eaten only a couple of times a week. And they don’t eat any meat for the 40 days before Easter, so there’s a great variety of Greek vegetarian dishes to cater for all these times they don’t eat meat. If you search for nistisima fagita you will find lots. I grew up in Cyprus and the variety of vegetarian foods we were eating was similar to Indian cuisine!

You are right, regarding nistisima or fasting for Easter, but that is for religious Greeks, not for the majority. Another point is, Greek vegeterian dishes are usually made with dairy products. Like I said, vegan dshes are far and few other than those are centred around beans, greens, soups and salads which are the healthiest Greek foods.

It's the very last of the warmer winter days for me in the Newcastle region of New South Wales meaning that up until Saturday we will have 22-23°C days up until the weekend when the weather will become cold & wet at 15-17°C which is the warmer weather giving into the cooler winter months. I know that you can create a subtropical environment near Melbourne in Victoria, the subtropical climate really just denotes the warm tropical air masses during summer time as well as the mild low pressure systems which blow in from the east & which brings us rainfall which also makes it very humid during the warmer months. You tend to get blocked off from that weather system by the great dividing range in Victoria although Wollongong has a bit more of a marine climate. I do know what you mean about creating that subtropical environment & I commend you for doing that in Victoria, there are people in my area who don't like me beginning to create my own subtropical or tropical ecosystem basically,I get bored with the regular plants a lot of people come to expect in my area so I am not just going to shove an orange tree in the ground and that's it. Like not many people grow papaya plants in my area but one person is growing a bisexual papaya plant in my next major town 11 kilometres away & they're getting fruit off it,I might even try growing a coconut palm which someone at Forester is growing on the mid north coast of New South Wales. I have black sapote, Cherimoya & custard apple plants to plant as well,I have mango, pineapple 🍍 & banana 🍌 plants to plant next year when I move. Most people can't be bothered or they want to maintain the "status quo" but this woman who I went to school with whose a Ward whose on my side of the family & whose parents used to live in the estate that I am moving into said to me at our local Bunnings one day that they're going to talk about why I am putting all of them down when I move into there because they know that I want to plant a tree there & that I am going to !

That's why I like going north when possible, I hate the constant layering of clothes when I'm out in winter.

What a beautiful place! 😊 I have a question. Eating so much fruit is supposed to be unhealthy because of all the sugar intake. In your own life experience, haven’t you gotten any issues with your blood sugar levels? It would be nice to have your feedback on this subject. Thank you George! 😃

I'm not an certified expert on this topic, but you can watch this video for answers. nutritionfacts.org/video/how-much-fruit-is-too-much/ .The take home message is that saturated fats like from meat and dairy products are the core issue, not excess fruit and veg.

I'm not sure, I'm guessing Mammoth. I bought it from Bunnings over a decade ago.
