Pickle Gulch is a sweet trail and has been on the list for awhile. Real fun obstacle-wise and great views all around. It passes 3 mines and there are a bunch of old buildings and camping all around. The clip starting at 1:50 with the hill and that rock ramp after it has a bypass. Any drone shots have my girlfriend Tia at the wheel, she filmed everything else except Michigan Hill which she drove the length of. Have fun!

My Tires:
amzn.to/2whk2MF
I love these tires. The only others I'd take are the BFG KO2 but they don't make them in this size and the KM2's are amazing. You can probably imagine the amount of driving I do weekly and how much abuse my tires get. These things last, everyone knows this, you've seen it in my videos.
My Tire Deflators:
amzn.to/2nYVxzU
These tire deflators have many $15 copies but the others just don't hold up or are inaccurate. I don't know what the deal is, they look identical to me too but read the reviews- they're bad. I've been using these Staun's for over a year and never had a problem, I air down a lot. Set them at the trail so your tires will be the same temp when you get to the trail next time.
My Compressor:
amzn.to/2PuerLH
There are better ones but I'd just get a bigger VIAIR, not someone different. Airs up all my 33's from 14psi to 37psi in less than 10 minutes. The in-line gauge is inaccurate when the compressor is on because of the pressure passing through. You need to switch it off to get a real reading. You can combat this by figuring out what incorrect reading corresponds to the real one. When mine is right at 3 Bar (43psi) it's slightly over 37psi. I put it on another tire and then use my real gauge to set it exactly.
My Microphone:
amzn.to/2P1S3sb
My microphone is the worst good mic you can get. BUT don't be fooled, it's a very good mic. Picture me getting in my car for the 50th time after I just ran up and down a hill... for the 50th time. Do you see me disconnecting my mic and gingerly setting it in some sort of nice case? No. It stays connected to the tripod, gets thrown into my all plastic cargo area and bounces around with other heavy items until the next one. It gets terrible interference from WiFi so you must make sure that it's off on your camera or phone. If you are trying to use this with your phone you need to get a TRS to TRRS cable which RODE makes. This is required because your phone will think the mic is headphones.
My Tripod:
amzn.to/2o8h6hL
As mentioned, I'm hard on the entire setup. I went through 2 tripods in 1 month, a $20 and a $30. Buy it nice or buy it thrice. This thing gets opened and closed MANY times per week in rain, snow, dirt, and even in the middle of rivers. I love the 2-stage legs so i can make it real low in 2sec instead of shortening all the legs.
My Drone:
amzn.to/2Ug6qMD
The Mavic, I think it's fantastic. You can tell how easy it was to progress through my videos. Besides maybe five times, you've seen every bit of flying since I got it. I don't fly in the city and I don't go to the mountains and not make a video. It is VERY easy to use. Took a little bit to get the settings dialed in but I learned everything I know on RU-vid.
My Drone ND Filters:
amzn.to/2MHV0R0
The filters are a must. Again I have the worst ones and I am still very pleased. My first use was video #35 and I think it is very apparent. Illinois Gulch (#34 obviously) has a completely white sky, way too much blue. I'm still not even good about selecting the right one or changing them out but it's 10x better than nothing.
My Books:
amzn.to/2wmd20O CO
amzn.to/2BzDIBc CO North
amzn.to/2ByPuvy Moab
FunTreks books are great. I like to bring as much information as possible when I go to the middle of nowhere. There's also no substitute for books or maps. Unless you drop them in the fire, they're going to work. They have coordinates and maps for everything, very in-depth info on sturdy pages.
This is the stuff I've tested, this is what I like. I am very hard on all of my equipment frequently and it still works. I back all of these items and each company seems to back their product very well too. I guess it's easy to offer a warranty when your stuff doesn't break.

I love your videos. It's nice to get a first hand account before we try to tackle the trail blind. As luck would have it, you're doing a lot of the trails that we have in mind👍

awesome! the channel is a tool, use it! i built the channel to be exactly what i was looking for, based on comments i've been reading and making for a decade. i quickly realized why no one films this way but it was too late haha. no surprises on the trail, pretty regular vehicle to compare to mine, no fluff or filler, no commentary, just "here's what it is!" i love and watch MANY other channels but the night before a trail this is what i was looking for. have fun out there and thank you!

I really wanted to bring the drone up to Fordyce on our trip but wasn’t sure what to expect. Those shots of yours turned out great 👌🏼

B Roll Offroad I prefer watching the old Ford truck. 👍
@BRollOffroad
@BRollOffroad 4 года назад
@@blackjackshellac3886 yea i liked that truck, i've never done any paint work like i did in the topper before and i loved it. unfortunately over the course of a year i dealt with 3 different mechanics in 2 different shops who put in 2 clutches, 3 slave cylinders, 8 master cylinders and resurfaced the flywheel. i was still bleeding my clutch every 2-5 days. calling Ford only got me a: "bring it back to the dealer or try a new dealer." "try a new dealer? you think i should go give a THIRD place $1,800 to do the exact same thing and you think that'll fix it?" "yep." i gave up, ate the $4k i'd lost, lost another $4k on the sale and gave up on Ford forever after owning 3 of them. i was in the shop 2-4x a month, once my plates expired and i realized i'd been dealing with this crap for a year that was it.

Are lockers needed? Just got my first 4x4 and want to take my daughter up there! I’m just rocking an XJ with 31” boggers and a 2” lift but not lockers or a winch yet.. Sweet video! 🤘🏻😷👍🏻
@BRollOffroad
@BRollOffroad 4 года назад
i didn’t use my locker but this thing has traction control with the brakes. the hardest spot is probably the loose rock from 7:00 - 8:00 but if you have good tread on the tires you’re probably good. the other major flex spots are my own doing and a different line would mellow them out a lot.
@BRollOffroad
@BRollOffroad 4 года назад
also the 2:26 obstacle has a bypass.

Great video! I saw you while you were doing this, I was in a red LJ and told you I liked your videos. I was there earlier that week too with frontrange4x4.com, we cut the fallen tree you passed at 6:50, there's a video of it on my channel.
@BRollOffroad
@BRollOffroad 6 лет назад
no way i'm glad i found you then, that was so cool to hear. no way about the tree! i took the corner and out loud was like "thank you someone." pretty weird i saw you earlier and didn't know it was you, then found you on the internet later by accident haha. this world gets smaller every day.

Is the hardest part of this trail at 2:00 ?
@BRollOffroad
@BRollOffroad 5 лет назад
probably, that shot is also continuous into the next clip but that whole hill with the obstacle at the top has a bypass. the only other part that comes to mind is at 7:20 (also goes right into next clip) which is real steep and loose.

Rub at all with the new tires?
@BRollOffroad
@BRollOffroad 6 лет назад
nah, the fender liner bulges out in 2 places for no reason and i had to heat gun those and just push them in and they cool in the new position. they call it "the melt mod" on the xterra forums, very common easy one. pretty sure since i got the skinnies i didn't even have to do it but it was like 10mins.
