Good stuff. Great to hear two things you don't hear enough in these discussions: how technique puts you at higher risk and that how food can modulate risk.

Love it, thanks. Now, what about the shoulder; pain in the trapezius from overhead smashes? Forehand and backhands?

What about exercises to strengthen the fore arm muscles?

You can squeeze a rubber ball or get those hand squeezing spring gizmo. Also on line you can find exercises: lifting light weights with your hand using your wrist.

Really?? Tennis elbow because of driving and eating poorly? Does it mean I have tennis elbow in my left knee?

Yes, really. Texting, playing computer games, really contribute to overused muscles!

Clueless. In tennis, you're hitting a much heavier ball than a pickleball, so why do pro tennis players never have tennis elbow? They hit the ball way out in front of the body. Same thing in pickleball. 18-20 inches in front of your body on contact. You won't get tennis elbow if you hit early with a relaxed arm. People who get tennis elbow make contact with the ball too close to their body or beside their body.

Started tennis since I was 12 (I'm 58 now), picked up racquetball in college, and played ping pong since I was a kid. Never had issues with tennis elbow but I have had some issues with pickleball elbow, even though I use similar strokes from tennis. The big difference between the two is that in tennis, you never do a fast pronation of the racquet/paddle arm in tennis like you do in pickleball. The action at the kitchen doing roll volleys is very different than a volley in tennis. I've found the pronation action at the kitchen is the main reason many of us get issues with pball elbow...which just means we have to train the forearm and tricep to handle this particular motion because it's required in pball for higher level roll volleys. BTW, I know people who did get tennis elbow, because they tried to add top spin by over-pronating that long heavy racquet--ouch!!! So bad technique in tennis leads to tennis elbow. Training, strengthening, and stretching like this video shows, is essential if you plan to move higher up in pickleball and move from hitting flat attacks to top spin roll volley attacks.

I was a professional tennis player. Never had tennis elbow ever. Hit the ball way out in front and pronated heavily hitting forehands hard with a lot of topspin. There is much more torque hitting a tennis ball that is triple the weight of a pickleball. Weight of the ball, hitting late, and pronating late causes pickleball and tennis elbow. A heavier ball causes much more problems for the elbow if you hit LATE.

@@bart1476So you are saying, if my aunt had a mustache, she would be my uncle?! 😜 Guessing you haven’t played pickleball… Tennis strokes are 98% of the time hitting a tennis ball that’s bouncy with tennis strings that are bouncy- also, 98% of tennis shots are utilizing full body weight transition… However, 80% of pickleball shots as you get to more advanced levels in pickleball is based on who has faster hands- at the kitchen line 15 feet apart and go back and forth 10 times in the amount of time as one tennis ball would take to be returned. what’s that mean? Speed ups all the time and tense arms bent close to body when being surprised and hitting back… with no forgiveness on 2 hard surfaces that create much small vibrations, but in a tense muscle situation, that vibration multiple times will cause tennis elbow- absolutely impossible for that to be done in tennis🤷🏻‍♂️

@chrisrossi6534 Like your knowledge of what causes tennis elbow, you are wrong about guessing I haven't played pickleball. I play at the highest level in pickleball. No one that is good at pickleball gets tennis elbow because they hit early. You probably are a 4.0 and hit late most of the time hurting your elbow.
